Mirror Mirror

I love the Crew activities that Mrs Rhodes challenges us to on a Tuesday. Today the children had to work with a partner to decide how they would get from one side of the playground to the other. Sounds easy enough, however, they had to be in sync with each other and mirror each others moves. There were lots of giggle this morning as children collaborated on how they would complete the task. Some fantastic speaking and listening happening between the pairs. We had some children doing the crab, ballet, skipping and even cartwheels. Lots of fun had by all.

Multistep Maths

Oh the brains in Crew Shields were tested this morning. We have finished up our addition and subtraction unit with multistep problems. This is an area that children can find tricky as there is more to think about to ensure they arrive at the correct answer. It was great seeing them get stuck in and challenge themselves. Good job everyone!

Making Jam Sandwiches!

As part of out expedition this week we are writing a set of instructions so what better way to practice following instructions than to make a tasty treat. We used imperative verbs and time connectives to write some collaborative instructions and then followed them. Great work CrewRobson!

A busy day in MI

We started our day with our caring curriculum in Crew. Here we thought about friendship and what makes a good friendship.

We also made a start on our non chronological reports in writing and started to think about our gravity sections. We thought about the subheading and built our sentences using our gold and green targets. Tomorrow we will finish our chunk 2 then edit and improve our work. We are also looking forward to building an interesting fact box which we hope will engage our reader further.

In maths we thought about mixed numbers and improper fractions and converted between both. We built an anchor chart together before applying to our books. We then looked at subtracting fractions!

Some great work in MI today! 🙂

Great HoWLs 🤩

During Crew time, we celebrated those pupils with HoWLs that are ‘Great’ meaning their HoWL average is 3.5+. We showed our appreciation for how hard they work with a little cake!

Crew Gerrard Litter Picking! ♻️✅

It is fair to say that Crew Gerrard were absolutely buzzing with the litter picking this afternoon and thoroughly loved it. It was great seeing so much enjoyment, Crew work and effort in making sure our playground is treated well. They were truly kind and want to make sure that it looks beautiful! What a fantastic effort guys! 😆

Stewardship in KS1

As a School we have noticed that there is a lot of litter on our school site, this is not being kind to our environment and we believe something needs to be done about it!

KS1 went out with Titch to help make our site look beautiful and pick the litter up in outdoor crew sessions.

Fireworks in Nursery!

The children this morning used their fine motor skills to create fire works in the tough tray. We spoke about all the different sounds the children are going to hear on Bonfire night. The children loved making lots of firework noises and we pretended we were the different fireworks by shouting loud bangs for rockets and being crackling little Roman candles. They are all very excited for Saturday!
