Dancing the day away 🕺

Crew Shields have been showing off their dance moves today.

They started the day off by completing some team building activities then they started to learn a new dance routine.

I absolutely love how they are all trying to active participate in the learning even the children who don’t finding dancing enjoyable. This really shows us working hard to get smart! 😁

Massive well done Crew Shields ⭐

Young Voices 2023 – Charity Single with Heather Small!

When we went to Young Voices at the beginning of February, we were part of a recording of the song ‘Proud’ alongside the legendary music artist Heather Small and the rest of the Young Voices choir. On Monday 6th March, this song is being released to raise vital funds for the charity Place2Be, and children’s mental health. Check out the teaser below!

Writing – Freeze Frames

In writing, we have started to prepare ourselves for our independent write by starting to generate ideas to support us on writing days.

We used scenarios similar to what we would be writing about to help us relate to the event and really put us into the moment.

Some fantastic discussions and freeze frames by the crew. I love how Jack is contemplating how to ’work around the system’

Maths – Fractions

This morning in Maths we have had some time to really focus on equivalent fractions. We used Mymaths which allowed us to work at our own pace through the lesson before completing the online homework. This has helped children to really think about the process when finding equivalent fractions. Do we need to multiply or divide? Have we remembered to use the same operation on the denominator and the numerator?

World Book day

World Book day was the perfect opportunity for us to spend some time in our lovely library. The children were able to get themselves comfortable and read their book. It also allowed myself and Mrs Rhodes to listen to children read.

Beautiful work

Last week, we started to write our plot points which were a recount/ description of Martin Luther King’s I have a dream speech. It has been lovely seeing the children’s writing styles and how they’ve been ale to meet their targets.

We have been having a huge focus on productivity as we get the children prepared for when they enter Year 6, however, we’ve talked that yes, we want more writing but it still needs to be of a high quality. This is one such example of where they have produced more but kept the quality in place. This work also screams beautiful work which we have shared in crew as the standard we are aiming for.

Massive Well done to Scarlett for this beautiful piece of writing!
