Crew Gerrard Blog (19/4/21)

Today has been a busy start to the week for Crew Gerrard! We have been thinking about how we can improve our art work for expedition, during Crew. We then worked on converting mixed number fractions ready for our fraction lesson, which we are becoming more confident with. After that, we started our new reading and finished our final preparations for our Gravity writing. We then finished off our letters, ready for purple pen improvements tomorrow. Our HoWL Heroes today are:

Work Hard: Emily for showing such superb knowledge with converting improper fractions to mixed number fractions! 😁

Get Smart: Chloe for helping and supporting others with fantastic ideas in writing! 😃

Be Kind: Alicia for having such a positive attitude for everyone all day! 😄

Our HoWL average was 2.9! I wonder if we can all work hard to achieve our best tomorrow? 😆

Our favourite animals were the dog and the tortoise called Meg! 🐶🐢

Carcroft’s Academic Calendar 2021/2022

Thank you to those parents who have provided us with feedback regarding the XP Calendar. I have looked through parents comments and have made some slight changes to our final version of the 2021/22 Academic Calendar.

Carcroft staff will work the same number of days as outlined on the Local Authority Calendar. However, you will see that we will start our term, 1 day earlier in-line with the XP Schools. Then, in July, we will continue our term for a further 4 days once the XP Schools have broken up for Summer.

I would like to thank parents for their understanding in terms of the rationale behind us proposing that we would like our staff to attend the 5 additional INSET days alongside XP Staff, as we truly believe these days will be essential in terms of moving our school forward.

The calendar is never going to be straight forward, as everyone’s context is different. However, I do believe that this calendar is going to be a really good fit for us as a school next year. Staff will have 5 additional days to improve the education in which they provide to your children, whilst aligning the dates with the local authority calendar for 2021/22.

We will then fully align our calendar with the XP Trust from September 2022, but there will be more to come on this in the Autumn Term so that you can plan for the following academic year.

In the meantime, if there are any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me via email on [email protected].

Please can I ask parents to refrain from commenting on the post over the weekend period, in order to allow school staff a little bit of a respite after a busy first week back.

Thank you,

Miss Laing

Crew Shields – 16/4/21

Amazing first week back! It has been such a great first week with Crew Shields and we’ve loved being back together and building up crew again. The children have settled back into our routine and continued to support each other. I have been extremely impressed with the positive attitude to learning that they’ve all demonstrated this week.

Crew Shields Average : 3.4

Targets for this week : 3.2

How can we improve?

To further improve, Crew Shields need to ensure they start responding to feedback without prompts.

Crew Shields Work Hard Howl Hero – Tommy

Tommy has been working extremely hard on his presentation by working on his handwriting. He is even working on his fine motor skills/handwriting at home to ensure he is getting lots of practice. Keep it up.

Our Weekly Howl Target is 3.0

This weeks HoWL average was 2.9

We need 8 more ‘3’s’ to earn our Nelli day! 🐶🐶

Today’s Howl hero was Alkim. He has worked really hard today (and this half term) to improve his writing and to blow the reader away.

Our Learning Legend this week was Lydia B. Lydia was chosen because of her teaching skills. She has been heard and seen teaching a crew mate and helping them to get smarter. She has such a sweet manner and helped them to achieve. Well done !
