Today, we had to run through an obstacle course where every challenge was unlocked by a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors! We had to defeat obstacles (us!) with the right move, and sprint to the finish. Strategy, speed, and quick thinking led the children to victory – it was such great fun and lots of positive sportsmanship observed!

In our book talk and demo comp lesson this week, we have focussed on a range of comprehension skills. We have used a variety of different lenses such as, trawling for evidence, inference and language. We worked really hard to explain why and use evidence from the text.

The children have been working super hard on their writing skills. Now in a morning they write their names, numbers to 10, and now affirmation sentences. They have been amazing at recalling the properties of a sentence such as adding a full stop at the end. Well done crew F2.

After reading our story ‘Zombies don’t eat veggies’, in writing today a few of us in Crew Marsh spoke about what type of foods would be changed to fit the cuisine of a Zombie. We got so engrossed and came up with lots of great ideas including brain pizza, knees on toast and gut bolognaise! We then put all of our ideas on a slide and presented these ideas in our small group. We are working on orally recalling sentences and the children showcased this amazingly today, by linking their ideas to the story and using the characters names. What a gruesome experience!

In our crew session we continued with our discussions on mental and physical health. We talked about how mental health allows us to feel good about ourselves and also cope with challenges. It allows us to build strong relationships, enjoy life and be more resilient. We discussed that we care for our physical health by eating well and exercising, and how we need to do the same with our mental well-being in the same way. We then listened to some mindful music whilst completing some mindful colouring.

We have been fully immersed in our first sentence day when writing our introduction, so much so we didn’t want to go for dinner!
Today in crew we started to explore the significance of being mentally healthy alongside physically healthy. We thought about what it means to be happy, activities that help us to feel good and why we think our feelings are important. We then completed a fitness circuit 🙂 Our debrief allowed to explore what mental health is and reasons why it is important to take care of it. The circuit really did set us up for the day 🙂
