Today we were artists and found out about the French post-impressionist artist Georges Seurat.
Seurat used pointillism to create his artwork. After a gallery walk and a critique session we had a go at using the pointillist techniques.

We had lots of fun completing our COJO challenge this morning in Crew MW. We flew to the jungle and had to tip toe through the swamp without waking up the crocodiles! We balanced, climbed, jumped and crawled our way through the swamp, and we managed to do it without waking up any of the crocodiles! 🐊
In our book talk lessons this week, we have looked at a different page in our book “Guardians of the planet”. We have read the text, unpicked key vocabulary which we didn’t understand and asked questions about what we had read. We have learnt lots about renewable energy and wind energy whilst adding lots of key vocabulary to our glossary.
Crew Haddock are having another bake sale on Thursday 29th February at 3pm. We are hoping you can all come and support us in raising more funds for our AP unit.
Crew Haddock loved Scotty’s today and Sharni-Mae was Scotty’s Hero ..Well done Sharni-Mae
In Crew Haddock today the children have been using the areas where they had to sort the picture cards into the right recycle bin.
Today, we started Case Study 2 – Science. This will support us in answering our guiding question: How can we protect our wonderful world? During our first lesson, we looked at a range of data about Svalbard and discussed what this told us. We were shocked to discover just how much things are changing due to climate change and the impact this has on Svalbard.
Today in book talk, we delved deeper into our text for this week – Wailing Winnie’s Carboot Sale. We used our fastest finger first skills and had a think in our pairs to find the answers to some questions related to the text. We loved reading about Winnie accidentally selling her husband’s pair of old, smelly trainers and the mission she had to go on to get them back.
Today in maths, we were exploring finding 1 more. We chose a number from the spinner, made it and found 1 more! We were really confident in making the number and then showing what 1 more would be using our tens frames and counters.
This morning, we had a video from our school office from the cameras in school. We’d had some visitors last night in our classroom…A group of gingerbread people had snuck through our class and are hiding somewhere in school! We worked out that the next book that we will be looking at is the Gingerbread Man! We read through the story and joined in with the familiar phrases. We are really excited to explore the story and to answer the guiding question, ‘How can we help the gingerbread man to cross the river?’
