In our writing lesson today, we have looked at different diary entries and discussed what features are included. We found that there are personal pronouns, time fronted adverbials, date, Dear Diary and it is written in past tense. We all worked incredibly hard to find these features in a Roman diary entry.
Today we have cleaned our dirty hospital, so the soldiers can get better. Florence Nightingale bossed all of us about in order to make sure everywhere was clean: we swept the floor, mopped the floor, scrubbed the tables, scrubbed the floor and tidied up all of the dirt. We did such a good job it was sparkling clean!
Today we thought about the Lorax’s appearance and personality. We worked in mini crews to build ideas together and then shared our ideas with the rest of the crew. We all had a go at writing an idea down and everyone shared one of their own. We will use our chotting after the holidays to create our own character description.
This term we have been writing about and reading Little Red Riding Hood. For our experience morning, in Crew Pashley, we made a witches potion ✨ for the Bad Wolf🐺 from Little Red Riding Hood. We discussed other ways to get rid of the wolf, like scaring him. The potion is used to get rid of the wolf when he eats grandma by turning him into a frog. We included lots of different things in our potions, including beads, pasta, rice and pom poms. We practised measuring out the potion into containers using a fake syringe, cups and the spoons.
In today’s experience lesson we visited a hospital – it was really dirty with blood, sick and dirt. It wasn’t very nice or friendly. We decided we would not want to be looked after there.
Today we were thinking about the Big, Bad Wolf and what he looked like. We started off by making split pin wolves and thought about the different parts of the wolf. We then went on a hunt around the room and looked at pictures of real wolves to generate some vocabulary for our writing tomorrow.
Today we have snuck to Grandma’s house as the wolf and got in her bed!!
Today we pretended to be the Big, Bad Wolf and crept quietly to Granny’s house. When we got there her bed was empty, we think she’d been scared by all the howling! Some brave wolf’s even tried out Granny’s bed!!
In our writing lesson today, we have focussed on developing our editing and redrafting skills. First, we read the writing to see if it makes sense. Then, we checked it for features such as: capital letters, full stops, spellings, fronted adverbials and conjunctions. We discussed how we use purple pen to edit the errors in our work. Tomorrow, we will continue to write plot point 4 so we can put our editing and redrafting skills into practice.
