🌟star moments 🌟
The children are working hard to get really smart at writing their name. Our morning task is to now come in and find our name and practice writing it. Some children are writing it independently without their name card now, this is fantastic! If you can spend 5 minutes with your child practising their name, this will really support them to progress in this skill, especially as we now head towards thinking about starting reception 🙊
We absolutely love mark making in nursery and today we made marks on tin foil! The children love experimenting with different media and materials!
We shared some books and the children chose a friend to share their story with. They talked about the story together and looked at the pictures. Encouraging your child to read and sharing stories together is so rewarding for them ❤️

What a wet and wonderful Wednesday ☔️ 🌧
What a very wet and windy day! This didn’t dampen our spirits though 🌧 we continued with our maths this morning recording the weather and observing how it had changed during the course of the week. We are excited to create a tally chart on Friday to show our findings. We the explored numbers and sounds outside while singing along to our favourite tunes underneath our umbrellas 🌂 ☔️

HoWL heroes today:
Being Kind: Sydney, Prince and Shania. These lovely lot helped tidy the outdoor area collecting rubbish and leaves. We’ve been a little disappointed this week in our crew as it seems visitors to our playground don’t look after it as well as we do and drop litter 😞 We are going to be creating posters to show other people how to keep our area tidy. We want it to look beautiful and something we are very proud of. Keep up the great work foundation it’s showing you take pride in your environment 😊
HoWL average: 2.9
We’re nearly back up to that 3. A few tweaks to carpet time and I’m hopeful we’ll get there 👍🏼
Wonderful Wednesday! Another great day in Crew Elmer today! 🤩
Star moment of the day: ⭐
Today ‘s star moment has got to be ‘The Write Stuff’. This morning I was really blown away with the children’s chotting ideas and how well children applied these to their own writing. We had some amazing alliterative and repetitive sentences as well interesting verb choices. Great writing Crew Elmer! Well done! 😁👍
Todays HoWL average is: 3.1
Another great score! Well done Crew Elmer!
This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0
How can we develop this tomorrow?
Tomorrow, we need to continue to make sure that we are all aiming for 3’s in every HoWL to ensure that our HoWL score is the best it can be!
Today’s HoWL Hero:
Today’s HoWL Hero was Lily-Beth! Lily-Beth was praised by several crew members for being kind throughout the day today. She was also praised by myself for her amazing writing in ‘The Write Stuff’ this morning. The quality and quantity of her writing blew us all away! Well done Lily-Beth! 🤩👏🙌📝✏👍
Star moment
Star moment today was reading the children’s ideas in our writing lesson, the children have so many great imaginative ideas that have really impressed me! Well done Crew Marsh! 😁😁
Average is: 2.6 – 😢😭😭
Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0
How can we develop this tomorrow?
Crew Marsh’s target is to make sure they are concentrating on their learning and not as much talking, today this seems to have been all day and I have had to constantly remind children about what working hard and getting smart looks like.
Howl hero:
Work hard hero today is Harper!
Harper has worked her socks off today, she has made sure that she has worked really hard in all of her subjects and showing that she really cares and wants to do well. Well done Harper!
We have had a much improved day in Crew Gerrard, so a massive well done! A highlight of our day has definitely got to be how well the children have learned how to add fractions and even convert them into mixed number fractions. We showed great enthusiasm and perseverance when doing this. We have decided that these fantastic Crew members deserve our HoWL hero today:
Work Hard: McKenzie for putting in 100% to his learning. I know that you have given your all in each lesson – well done! 😁
Get Smart: Amelia for work well in her pairs and for wanting to learn. Your desire to get smart has been an example to all! 😃
Be Kind: Sapphire for always being a role model in listening carefully during lessons! 😄
Our HoWL average has been 3.2 today. I wonder if we can show our fantastic listening skills all day tomorrow? 😆

We have been surrounded by sounds today!
This morning we shared books with our Crew mates. Lots of us remembered which way we turn the pages and treated our books with care. We explored the colours and some of us told stories using the pictures.

We enjoyed our books so much some of us went straight to the reading corner to look at some more! We also explored lots of sounds while we used the playdough.

Today’s HOWL hero is Layla! Her confidence is growing each day and it is wonderful to see her becoming more independent in provision.
Wednesday ✅
Wow! We’ve worked so hard today in our writing lesson today! We started writing our letters to Zog and we had so many brilliant ideas to share between each other so that the opening sentences to our letters were the best they could be. 🌟

We have continued to explore letter writing today and worked so hard writing them in the correct format – we have written an address, greeting and an introduction. Hopefully Zog and the Flying Doctors will receive our letters soon and will be able to help us!
Howl Heroes:
Work Hard: This goes to four boys today – Bobby-J, Luke, Brandon and Tommy F for their hard work in writing today – they concentrated so well and have started creating some beautiful letters.
Get Smart: This goes to Stevie for thinking hard about the sentences she was writing, and completing them independently, well done!
Be Kind: This goes to Tia for keeping the classroom in order and offering to complete jobs for teachers, well done Tia!
Howl Average:
3.6 – we’ve stayed steady with our score today, massive improvement for getting smart by listening, let’s see if we can get it even higher tomorrow!
