Crew Wilson Daily Blog : 17/09/2020

Today I want to give a massive shout out to the whole Crew – they have worked so hard to show all of their teachers what “Working Hard” looks like in different areas of our classroom and school. They know what is expected of them and have displayed it in many different ways – well done Crew Wilson, I am very proud!

HOWL Heroes.

Work Hard – Tommy T has had his best day at school so far! He has listened carefully to instructions and worked so hard in every single lesson today resulting in some beautiful work being created, well done Tommy!!

Get Smart – Debbie-Mae has also really worked on her listening skills today. She has also taken on a leadership role by guiding her group through their independent activities, ensuring they are all meeting their learning intentions, fantastic effort Debbie-Mae!

Be Kind – Finlay has been such a great collaborator today, working hard in his group to go above and beyond what we expect. In our writing lesson, Finn worked fantastically to sound out some very tricky words, and then helped others when they were stuck too, keep up the good work Finlay!

HOWL Average:

4.0

Some more very honest reflection today, but we agreed as a Crew that we had all met our criteria for awarding 4’s as we had worked so well both independently and collaboratively across every lesson, we have really turned a corner in terms of our attitude towards learning, well done Crew!

Crew Gerrard blog (17/09/2020)

Hi everyone!

What a day we have had in Crew Gerrard – it’s been our best yet! This morning we continued to work on adding 1000, 100, 10 and 1 in our maths, which we continue to grow in confidence with. We also continued to work on building up our team work, during PE.

After PE, we then looked into our class book The Giver. The children are beginning to really understand more about this community and the main character Jonas.

This afternoon was really amazing to teach, as the children worked really hard and began to explore how to make video games on scratch. The team work and enjoyment the children had was great to see, with many not wanting to log off.

Our HoWL heroes today were:

  • Kian for working hard and trying to really improve and understand the maths, amongst other lessons today. Well done!
  • Lucas for giving his all today in every subject, you should be really proud of yourself!
  • Everyone for keeping really calm today. I was really impressed with how you all handled yourselves today.

HoWL average for today – 3.4

I am really proud of your effort today Crew Gerrard, keep it up!

Crew Kent Blog 17.9.20

What a fantastic day!! Crew Kent started off the day with a brilliant P.E. session working hard on a variety of skills such as throwing, catching and balancing. Next the children worked on their math continuing to adding and subtracting 1000’s, 100’s, 10’s and 1’s. Next the children edited and improved their writing looking at adding more alliteration and description to their work. In the afternoon children excelled in Computing learning to code computer games using Scratch. This was a very enjoyable session with children very focused and determined to get their coding correct. Keep up the hard work! 👍👍

Howl average for the day = 3.4

Daily Blog – 16.09.20

Good evening,

Star moment of the day:

Our star moment of the day was the enthusiasm and excitement to begin our lessons on coding in computing.  I think it’s safe to say we may have found a new favourite lesson…for now!

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.2

We’ve improved again on yesterday’s score and this is certainly down to our positive attitude in computing and hard work in writing; great work!

How can we improve this tomorrow?

To improve on this tomorrow, we’ll need to ensure we listen carefully at all times to be able to follow instructions to help us with our learning.  A Cojo challenge to start the day will be a good test for this.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Get Smart – Maddie!  Maddie has started to learn Bulgarian at home to try and be a better friend to one of our crew.  She shared this with the rest of us when we circled up today and is now helping us to all learn some basic words so that we can truly become crew!

Crew Mcloughlin Blog 16/09/20

Today’s highlights

We started the morning off with discussing how happy we felt and displayed lots of positive attitudes for the day ahead! Miss Mcloughlin was super impressed with how hard we worked adding 1000s, 100s and 1s. With more practise we will all be accessing the reasoning and problem solving tasks! Our Crew has definitely got some keen mathematicians to help us along the way. In reading we have continued to read our key text ‘The giver’. We focused on our identity and what makes us who we are. This provoked some quality discussion between the Crew and really made us think about ourselves.

During the afternoon we looked at our pictures of Carcroft we took on yesterday’s walk and again the children spoke about how much fun the they had participating in this active learning. We started to draw our field sketches which we will perfect next week and put some pictures of these on here for you all to see.
