Crew Thiede – 15.9.20

Highlight of the day

We have had a busy day in Crew Thiede today! The children have been discussing the human and physical features that we saw on our walk to Coffee Corner. I was so impressed with their writing about the different shops that we saw on the our walk. I look forward to seeing the brilliant sentences the children come up with the rest of this week!

Crew Mcloughlin Blog 16/09/20

Today’s highlights

We started the morning off with discussing how happy we felt and displayed lots of positive attitudes for the day ahead! Miss Mcloughlin was super impressed with how hard we worked adding 1000s, 100s and 1s. With more practise we will all be accessing the reasoning and problem solving tasks! Our Crew has definitely got some keen mathematicians to help us along the way. In reading we have continued to read our key text ‘The giver’. We focused on our identity and what makes us who we are. This provoked some quality discussion between the Crew and really made us think about ourselves.

During the afternoon we looked at our pictures of Carcroft we took on yesterday’s walk and again the children spoke about how much fun the they had participating in this active learning. We started to draw our field sketches which we will perfect next week and put some pictures of these on here for you all to see.

Crew Gerrard blog (16/09/2020)

Hi everyone,

This morning Crew Gerrard have been working hard on being able to count in steps of 1000, 100, 10 and 1. This has really challenged us and we will work hard to keep getting better at this. We have also added to our writing, which continues to improve.

This afternoon we finished off improving our field sketches and also had our PE session. We were working on being athletes and managed to complete a scavenger hunt, which we will continue to explore during the next couple of weeks.

Today’s HoWL Heroes are:

  • Riley for working hard in all subjects, you kept going and showed great resilience, especially in your maths.
  • Zane for getting smart. We could see how much effort you put into your writing and the pride you took in it.
  • Emily for being kind to all of your peers, it really shows your Crew how much you care for them (thanks for the doughnuts as well!). Make sure that you read Emily’s second paragraph below!

Our HoWL average score today was 3.3!

I know that tomorrow will be even better!

Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 16/09/2020

We have had another fantastic day in Crew Wilson!

Highlights from today:

Counting backwards from 10 in maths – children have loved working on this today, special shout out to Tommy F for helping out some of his group when they got a little bit confused with their numbers.

Another superb writing lesson following The Write Stuff . Shoutout to Perrie and Jake for collaboratively sounding out the word ‘ecstatic’ – not a word I thought I’d hear from Year 1 only 3 weeks into the year!

We played ‘Capture the Flag’ in PE and it was great to see the children developing tactical plans, taking on the role of attackers and defenders and working together to win – although some are a little more competitive than others…..

HOWL Heroes.

Work Hard – Dalton has given 110% in every lesson today, working so well alongside others and really applying his knowledge to his work, great stuff Dalton!

Get Smart – Luke is our Get Smart champ of today as he has listened carefully to questions and thought hard about his responses. Luke has contributed to every discussion in crew today, well done Luke, we are so proud!

Be Kind – Daisy is our Kindness Queen of the day, checking on her friends when they were upset, organising games on the playground and taking pride in our learning environment by tidying up. Well done Daisy!

HOWL Average:

3.7

Some very honest self-assessment from the crew today, we’ve had a 0.1 dip in the average but they have promised that tomorrow we will get that number higher by listening first time and taking their time with their learning to ensure it is of the highest standard!

Well done Crew Wilson, another day smashed!!!

Work hard: Scarlett

Get smart: Lylah

Be kind: Tiana

Well done!

Our crew average today was 3.3! This is brilliant! I could see all day that you were all working as a crew to Work Hard, Get Smart and Be Kind!

Daily Blog 16/09/20

We have had a very busy day in Foundation! We have been so impressed with the children’s attitudes towards their learning, it’s hard to believe some of the children are new to school! 💕
We have had some fabulous name writing practice, the children have tried hard to use the correct pencil grip and recognising their name. This is such an important skill in foundation! ✏️

The children enjoyed taking on the role of construction workers building towers with the bricks, experimenting with balancing bricks and seeing how high we could make it! 🚧🏗⚠️This was also great team work and listening to our crew members suggestions!

Our HOWL Hero’s!

Being Kind – Shania

Shania did some excellent tidying outside and is always so helpful! She is a fantastic role model, well done!

Working hard

Henry – Henry remembered the forest school rules and did so well following them. He did excellent listening and knew that he needed to follow instructions to keep safe!

Shelby – Shelby did some excellent work in maths today! She was able to identify ten’s and one’s when counting beyond 10!

Daily Blog – 16/9/20

Hi all,

Star moment of the day:

Today in Geography, the children have been using a map to locate different areas within their local area. They had to locate different areas and consider the activities you would do in these places. e.g. Bullcroft Memorial Hall

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Shields need to work on ensuring that they are following instructions and asking questions if they need support.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

This week we are concentrating on working hard because if you work hard, you get smart!

Our work hard hero today is: Ava!!

Ava has been working hard on her independence and ensuring that she is starting her learning without being prompted by an adult.

Daily Post: 16.09.20

Good afternoon 😊

We have had another fabulous day in Crew Elmer! 👏

Also Happy Birthday to Harry! Hope you’ve had a great day celebrating with your crew today! Enjoy your cheesecake! 😛

Tomorrow Crew Elmer need to make sure that we are continuing to be kind to each other especially during group work.

Crew Kent Blog 16.9.2020

What an amazing day Crew Kent!!! You really smashed Arithmetic out of the park with lots of children able to add using column addition very quickly. In Math’s children worked very hard adding and subtracting 1000’s, 100’s, 10’s and 1’s. In writing children have been working hard building on their sentences. Take a look at some fantastic sentence stackers from Grace and McKenzie.

In the afternoon children really enjoyed their P.E. lesson doing lots of activities that enabled children to work on their communication and teamwork. Well done Crew Kent.

Howl Heroes for today – Work Hard = Crystal, Get Smart = Lexie and Be Kind = Deacon
