Wonderful Wednesday ✅ Today we have continued with our work around the text ‘Owl Babies’ and the children have learnt some new DT skills making split pin owls. The children learnt how to make the wings move using split pins and also incorporated some maths by choosing the correct shapes for the eyes and the beak. Watch this space for the pictures of the finished products… 🦉🌟
The children are thoroughly enjoying learning about owls and today we discussed what ‘nocturnal’ means. Test your child and see if they can remember! We then watched a fantastic video of some baby owls hatching and learning to fly. We also watched a live owl camera where we saw the owls sleeping 💤
We are looking at a colour of the week, which is Yellow this week. We explored the colour making yellow collages and talking about yellow objects. The children are already showing great enthusiasm about their homework they have been set and some children have already brought something yellow in for our colour of the week, so well done!
We have had a wacky Wednesday in Crew Wilson and have had a great day!
Highlight of the day:
My highlight of the day has been another fantastic Write Stuff lesson – the children are working so hard on building their sentences and choosing brilliant adjectives, well done!
Howl Heroes:
Work Hard: Finlay for his brilliant sentence describing Ravana!
Get Smart: Tommy F for trying so hard with his sound blending to write his sentence independently, well done!
Be Kind: Mia for offering her help in the cloakroom to any children who struggle zipping their coats.
Howl Average:
2.8 – we’ve taken a slight dip from the previous day. We know we need to work hard and do super listening in the afternoon, even when we are tired!

RWI Reading and Homework
Please could you remind children to complete today’s reading and homework.
Today we have enjoyed PE because we have been starting to look at some dance moves. We learned the importance of stretching and warming up before we take part in exercise. It is important to warm up our muscles so we don’t cause ourselves an injury. We look forward to exploring different styles of dancing over this half term.
Today’s HoWL average is: 2.8
Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0
How can we develop this tomorrow?
To improve further, Crew Shields need to ensure that they are listening carefully so they know what is required when completing their learning.
Our Get Smart hero today is Lacey!
You’d never know that Lacey had just moved into Crew Shields this week. She has settled really quickly and has been trying really hard to learn our routines/structures. Lacey has come up with some great sentences in writing and tried her best. Well done Lacey.
Today we’ve remembered our heroes and celebrated Remembrance Day. We watched ‘Poppies’ on CBeebies and discussed what this meant. We then represented poppies in lots of different ways. We painted poppies, made collage poppies using the laminator and drew and labelled them too! We’ve worked so hard!

The children wrote some fantastic sentences in The Write Stuff today, we discussed the ‘feeling’ lense and how the owls might have been feeling.

We had so many HoWL heroes today who were demonstrating ‘green’ standard – working hard, getting smart and producing beautiful work ⭐️ They were:
Being Kind – Noah and Teddy
Working Hard – Evelynn, SJ, Zach and Summer
Getting Smart – Sydney
My star moment today was listening to the children show off how well they are remembering their 6 timetables! This really impressed! Well done Crew Marsh, lets keep this up!! ✔🎂👏👏

Wonderful Wednesday! 🌹 Despite being at home and having to ‘dial in’ to do live teaching sessions it has been a successful day for Crew Elmer! 😊
Star moment of the day: ⭐
This has got to be the fact that my mother in laws Covid test result came back NEGATIVE meaning that I will be returning to school tomorrow! 😁 There was no way I was going to miss wearing my pjs to work on Friday either! 😄👖👕💤
The other ‘star moment of the day’ for me was teaching Hooked On Books live with the children today. They all listened to the text well and were able to make lots of chottings and scored lots of Book Talk points. I was also impressed with how many of them included the sentence starters and bonus words! Well done Crew Elmer! 👏 This really brightened up my morning! ☀
Todays HoWL average is: 3.5
WOW! As I said to Miss Hart live on screen I think I need to retire! 😂 It sounds like you have all had an amazing day without me! I hope that when I return tomorrow we all have another successful day like this! 🙌
This week’s HoWL target is: 3.3
How can we develop this tomorrow?
Continue to be as amazing as you have been today! ⭐ Also please make sure that you read EVERY night and remember to bring your book and reading sheet back to school 📝✏📒📚
Today’s HoWL Hero:
Today I again got to listen to all of the praises live on Google meet and again there was LOTS which was great! 👍 A few that stood out to me were the ‘acts of kindness’, including Hannah-May sharing how Rowen had helped her on the computers, this was lovely to hear 💕 However, the HoWL hero went to Laila for ‘getting smart’. Laila asked for help in maths this morning and this allowed her to achieve Gold standard and ultimately get smart! ⭐ Laila could of sat there and moaned but she showed a really positive attitude and this allowed her to be successful in today’s maths lesson. Excellent work Laila! Well done! 👏
