Crew Shields – 12/11/20

Today in Crew Shields, we have been working on our crew skills and ensuring that we are working together to complete a challenge. It has been lovely seeing the children develop these skills since September. Being kind and supporting each other is something we have been encouraging daily as we want each other to succeed.

How can we develop this tomorrow?

To improve further, Crew Shields need to ensure that they tak

Our Get Smart hero today is Chloe!

Chloe has been consistent since joining Year 3. She always listens to and takes on board the feedback given to her daily. I can really see progress with her writing and I love reading her book because I can see glimmers of her personality coming through in her writing.

Crew Longley – 12.11.2020

Today, we have been creating successful similes, working hard on arithmetic, exploring our text and developing communication and team work in Cojo.

This Week’s HoWL average: 2.9

Our HoWL target is: 3

How can we develop  We really need to continue working on our addition facts to 10. The children must know these without thinking to help them be able to work on other parts of maths effectively.

Highlight of the day

Today we thought a lot about remembrance and had some really meaningful conversations. We learnt about why the poppy is the symbol of remembrance and read Flanders Field.

We thought a lot about the people who made the ultimate sacrifice to give us our freedom. We talked about the sacrifice made at home as well as in battle and the soldiers we remember now as well as in the World Wars.

The children had some wonderful discussions and asked really good questions about remembrance and what it means.

HOWLs

Today our HOWL score was 3! Another good day crew!

Our HOWL heroes were

🌟 Work hard – Theo

🌟 Get smart – Jude

🌟 Be kind – Isaac

Crew Boswell – 11.10.20

Another positive day for us today, building on the things that we did well yesterday and showing kindness and support towards each other.  Let’s keep this going!

We also joined the nation for the two-minute silence with maturity and sincerity, discussing the difference between Remembrance Day and Armistice Day.  We will remember them.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.1

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

I wonder if…

I wonder if we can continue to develop our writing skills and look to deepen the moment with greater independence by using our knowledge of the writing lenses.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Get Smart hero today is Ellie!

Ellie has had a great day and continues to take pride in her work and develop her handwriting.  She has also been working on her times tables and has done well to improve her scores in our weekly times tables test, well done!

Wonderful Wednesday ✅ Today we have continued with our work around the text ‘Owl Babies’ and the children have learnt some new DT skills making split pin owls. The children learnt how to make the wings move using split pins and also incorporated some maths by choosing the correct shapes for the eyes and the beak. Watch this space for the pictures of the finished products… 🦉🌟

The children are thoroughly enjoying learning about owls and today we discussed what ‘nocturnal’ means. Test your child and see if they can remember! We then watched a fantastic video of some baby owls hatching and learning to fly. We also watched a live owl camera where we saw the owls sleeping 💤

We are looking at a colour of the week, which is Yellow this week. We explored the colour making yellow collages and talking about yellow objects. The children are already showing great enthusiasm about their homework they have been set and some children have already brought something yellow in for our colour of the week, so well done!
