I’ve just had a little chat with the Teachers regarding a little bit of a break down in terms of communication regarding the local visits this week that I’ve picked up on across some year groups
We would like to apologise for any confusion we may have caused this week and will ensure that this does not happen moving forward.
The Teachers had the children’s best interests at heart; they wanted to do the visits this week to ‘hook’ the children in which is great but time ran away for some of them and therefore things became a bit rushed and not executed as well as they could have.
Despite a little bit of confusion, the children have had a lovely week out and about with the vast majority loving it (although they were a little peckish after).
Some crews will be heading out next week… We are going to confirm Crew Elmer and Crew Boswells on Monday when we have finalised staffing. Please bear with us… 🙏🏻
Thank you for bearing with us this week whilst we ironed out a few ‘return to school niggles’.
Finally, Mrs Wilcox is sending a text to KS2 parents sharing that we are not going to operate the snack system as we did before due to Covid regulations.
However, KS2 children can bring a healthy snack from home from Monday. This could include: fruit such as banana or apple or a cereal bar. Children will be able to have this throughout the morning.
Have a lovely weekend.
This letter outlines some of the new initiatives in which we have launched at Carcroft this year in order to make our school the best it can be for our pupils. This letter will also be sent via Parent Pay.
I have tried to format the letter so it should read okay on smartphones, because if you are anything like me, you often read things on your phone. I would appreciate any feedback regarding the ease of reading this letter- thank you.
The admin team are going to send out another letter later today, which will cover some general bits and pieces including PE days, snacks etc. Watch this space!
September School Improvement Letter
We’ve had such a lovely day! So many smiling faces, the classrooms were filled with chatter and laughter and the eeriness or lockdown was finally behind us. Our school felt how it should after many months of feeling very strange. CPS we have missed you all!
Day 1 was a huge success.. now on to the rest of the term. We’ve made a few changes over the last few months because we wanted to use the lockdown period to further improve what we do in school to make it a better place for our students. I will sent out a newsletter tomorrow.
As you may have heard, pupils are venturing out and about in the community in the next few days. We want to provide more opportunities for active learning within our curriculum and this is the first step! Field work in our local community; we will post photos and videos of the students to show case their adventures. Watch this space.

Coming back together even stronger than before…
Dear Parent/Carer,
I hope that all of our families are having a lovely summer break and although the weather is not the best today, make the most of the bank holiday weekend together.
I am writing in advance of our return next Wednesday, the 2nd of September. I recognise that out there, we will have parents feeling all sorts of emotions and it’s our role as a school to try and make parents and their children feel at ease as much as possible.
Please click on the link below to read more information about the children’s return to school.
What hope have we got?
In April 2020, a selected group of children from Carcroft Primary School began its first ever Learning Expedition.
During the current Covid-19 lock down, a group of children from Carcroft Primary
School have partnered up with Greentop Primary and XP Trust to design and create
cards with a message of ‘hope’ for members of their local community, Carcroft.
The children completed this product through accessing live sessions from home
which consisted of history, poetry and art lessons. Although the children were not
in their usual learning environment, they worked hard to create a quality product
whilst showing increased independence. The children decided that they wanted to
create cards for the residents of China Cottage Care Home to bring some happiness
to their day. They have thought about how this current situation has similarities with
the World War and related this to current times. We hope you enjoy reading the
poetry and looking at the wonderful art they have created.

Visit the Lockdown Expedition page to see more of the amazing work.

🚨 Covid response: promotion for schools 🚨
✏️ Carcroft Primary School has signed up to receive FREE healthy breakfast food as part of the Covid response offer, under the National School Breakfast Programme (NSBP), which is being delivered by the charities Family Action & Magic Breakfast. As part of this government funded programme, we will be offering children a healthy breakfast at school. The plan is to provide our pupils with a classroom breakfast consisting of a bagel. 😃👍
So “Bagel Buddies” we cant wait to give you the opportunity to have a little socially distanced catch up and an healthy settled start to the day. ☀️
