Experimenting with Fronted Adverbials
This week we’ve been mastering the art of fronted adverbials. By adding words and phrases at the beginning of our sentences, we’ve learned how to describe when, where, or how something happens. From ‘Later that evening’ to ‘He quickly dashed,’ we are trying to make our writing more exciting and descriptive.


Xp Ooutdoors
Crew MI had a lovely time in out forest school . First we started with a bit of crew building which was loop de loop. The aim of the task was to pass the hoop round the circle without letting go of the persons hand next to you but to also not use your own hands to step through the hoop. After this some of the children explored the forest area by making dens, climbing tree or just having a walk round and the other made a twig letter. This was making the first letter of their name out of sticks and wool.
















Forest School
Crew McGlone really enjoyed been in our forest area today. They were on the swing and looking at the roots from one of our trees thats fallen down.




A new week, a new book!
To hook us into our new book we used our sense of touch. Mrs Robson allowed us to put our hand into the box and see what we could feel. This was our first clue to our new book. We came up with lots of adjectives to describe what we felt.

Next we completed a jigsaw of the front cover to reveal the name of the new book. We used our prediction skills and made links to books we already knew such as Little Red Riding Hood.

Finally we had another guess about what might be in the mystery box. We opened it up to reveal a turnip. Aimee in the kitchen had kindly cooked some for us to try too!

Crew Frost really enjoyed their bit of time in the forest exploring the new fire pit circle , climbing the trees and looking what else they could find.










Case study 3 continues in MI
Today we started to gain an understanding of the different food groups. First of all we thought about why all living things need food and we explored the word nutrition. We watched a variety of different clips on what a balanced diet is and what it includes. We used our previous knowledge on digestion too to support our discussions. Next we explored the eat well guide, thinking about what a healthy meal should be made up of. We then demonstrated our knowledge through a quick quiz. Next we continued to build background information on the food groups. We worked in mini crews to gather facts on each food group. Each person in the crew went to one of the food group information sheets in the classroom and found a fact. They brought this back and added it to to their group paper. At the end each person shared their facts to the rest of the group. From here we continued to demonstrate our knowledge, each mini crew had a go at creating their own eat-well plate. Our final activity allowed us to analyse a variety of menus, deciding if each meal on the menu was balanced or not. We thought about which meals were the most healthy and which were unhealthy. Finally we took part in a kahoot quiz to consolidate our learning!
