A kahoot quiz is always a great and fun way to practice some of the skills we are learning. This afternoon we had a quiz to help us select appropriate coordinating conjunctions to complete sentences.
Today we finished our second book talk lesson. We spent some time enjoying we understood the vocabulary and reminded ourselves that if something starts with a capital letter it’s the name of a place or person. We enjoyed a game of round table where the children had to take turns finding nouns in the text then we did a whip around sharing our answers.
We worked together to do a sequencing activity to order events in the text.
While reading the text, we had some questions to allow us the opportunity to give us reason for reading.
In Crew Haddock we worked together to sort out the past and present pictures in Doncaster.
This week, we have been learning about different geography topics, including the weather and seasons. We started by looking at the seasons and which weather we can find in each one. Then we looked at different animal habitats and discussed which ones live in a hot climate or cold climate🥶
This afternoon we got out the ropes and practiced our climbing skills.
Today in Maths, we practiced counting in 3s altogether then we used our 2D shape knowledge to name then cut out the shapes ✂️to make some different animal pictures.
The Staff Day in January saw the launch of our proposed teaching and learning model as part of our Festival of Learning. The event took place at XP Doncaster and was attended by staff from across all schools in the Trust. All staff had the opportunity to explore the model in more depth as well as attending other workshops on different parts of the model.
This is part of the Trust’s commitment to ensure that we expose more students to more impactful teaching more of the time.
There is now an awesome display at XP to celebrate the Christmas Carol Study Guide – the beautiful work of last year’s Year 11s. Be sure to go and admire their hard work on display!

Crew MW began exploring capacity this week in maths. We looked at the vocabulary, full, empty, half full, nearly full and nearly empty and then showed what each of these words looked like with our cups and the water. We then had to find a container that would hold more and less water than our cup would. We loved exploring how much water all of the different containers could hold, and we found out that containers with holes in cannot hold water, as it all leaks out!
This week, we chose to read ‘Slug needs a hug!’ when we visited the library. We loved talking about why slug should like the way he looks and that he shouldn’t change to look like someone else, because it would be very boring if we all looked the same!
