Perfect Prints!

Crew Hamill worked really hard to complete their art project last week. Over our first 3 days we carefully designed a print that was inspired by “What makes me, me.” We created a draft of our design which was something that represented us – our house, our pets, our hobbies. We then transferred our designs onto cardboard and carefully added string, meticulously following the lines we had drawn. Finally, we painted our string using two different colours and printed this onto card. We’re really proud of our results.

Our first week as Crew MW! ✨

It’s been a fun-filled first week back in Crew MW. We have been extremely busy exploring our new learning environment, working together in provision and catching up after our summer holidays. We have particularly enjoyed playing in the home corner, listening to stories on the Yoto player, and getting our groove on in the music area!

Perfect, pictorial printing!

Today we completed our art project, printing! Over the last 3 days we have carefully designed our print, crafted the template and then printed it onto card. First we had to think about the design, something to represent us and our hobbies. We then meticulously added the string to our template, making sure we followed our design and had the string in the right places. Finally, we then painted the string on the design and printed it onto card. The results are fantastic and really show how hard Crew Thompson worked and concentrated. Well done! 🎉

Day 2- Crew Marsh working hard to get smart in English

Today I had the pleasure of spending an hour with Crew Marsh during their first English lesson. They listened again to the Rainbow Fish story and talked about how this linked to our ‘be kind’ HoWLs. Then they completed some activities linked to their ‘be kind’ story to help them to really understand the importance of being kind in Crew Marsh and how being unkind can make people feel.

I was blown away by the way they all concentrated throughout the lesson. They carefully watched Miss Marsh model sentence writing and then had a go. I cannot believe how amazing they did. I also loved seeing the children work independently in their labs creating their fish.

Budding Artists

Crew Robson and Crew Godley have been working hard, to get smart today by creating their own colour wheels using their art skills. We will be using our background knowledge to create a piece of crew art work tomorrow – watch this space!

We began by exploring what a colour wheel is and how we can vary shades and tints of colours by adding black or white. We were amazed by the children’s resilience and determination to achieve the desired effect.

Printing

Today we carried on with our art learning. Children had to create their printing block based on their interests. They’d been asked to create an image that represents them. It was lovely seeing some of the children supporting their peers when they’d completed their own.

Then it was time to print which required children to work quickly and carefully. It’s important to not allow the paint to dry otherwise the print would be unsuccessful. We discussed how we could improve if we were to complete the project again. Children suggested making their images bigger or using more paint which would allow a clearer image.

Welcome back to the new MI

We have all been busy today developing our new crew. We have taken part in lots of team building and communication activities which have allowed us to work together effectively. We really enjoyed building a marshmallow tower, seeing who could construct the tallest tower. We also played railroad tracks where Mrs McClare called out different opposites and we had to decide which we preferred! We also used balloons and slips of paper to get to know each other a little better. We all wrote a question on our slip of paper then placed it inside our balloon before blowing it up. We then circled up, taking it in turns to pop our balloons and read out the question inside. We all shared our answers.

We also started our art work on printing. We discussed lots of things about ourselves then used this in our art work to create a picture that represents us. We created a key where different shapes represented different things about ourselves. We then printed our shapes using different colours and we also tried to layer our shapes in different ways.

Celebration of learning – Spring 2023

It was lovely to see so many parents join us this afternoon for our celebration of learning. Our Spring celebration was delayed slightly as we wanted to wait until we had the board before inviting parents in.
We shared a video of all the art work and then went to see the board.

They really did a wonderful job of the art work.
