A Mysterious Blue Substance Hits Crew Godley!

Crew Godley’s investigation took an unexpected turn when a mysterious blue substance filled the room! The police came to make sure everyone was safe and a scientist has taken away the mysterious substance.

Not ones to stay silent, we’ve decided to write to the Doncaster Free Press to share our concerns about this ever-growing mystery. Today we have started to plan out our own newspaper reports, Firstly, we carefully unpicked an example report and discovered that similar strange events have been happening across the whole country. As we analysed the newspaper report, we looked at lots of important features, including headlines, quotes, the what, when and where. Using these features, we are now ready to plan and write our own reports about the mysterious events at Crew Godley.

Exploring Relationships

In Crew Godley, we are learning how to recognise our own feelings in the moment and understand how others might be feeling too. In our Crew session today, we explored different everyday scenarios and decided which ones made us feel happiest and which made us feel least happy. We challenged ourselves to explain why we felt this way.

By sharing our reasons, we discovered that everyone can feel differently about the same situation and that all feelings are important, building empathy.

Solar Sounds

Crew Godley had a blast in ‘Create Your Own Verse’ today! We explored space through poetry, thinking about what we could see, hear, or feel, and turned our ideas into short, creative lines. We also practised reading our poems aloud to the crew with expression. It was lovely to see how hard everyone worked.

How does Earth move through space?

Children in Crew Godley have been exploring where we live in the universe. They have created their own informative video, using key scientific vocabulary to explain their ideas. This was a great activity to deepen their understanding of how the Earth rotates on its axis and revolves around the Sun.

Balloon Rocket Challenge: Exploring Forces in Action

Today, Crew Godley took part in an exciting Balloon Rocket Challenge, exploring ‘Our Place in Space’. They put their scientific thinking to the test as they explored how rockets travel through space and the forces that make them move.

The lesson began with a crew discussion about rockets and space travel. We shared our ideas about how rockets launch and what helps them move. We then worked together to construct balloon rockets. As the balloons were released, children observed how air rushing out created a force that pushed the rocket forward along the string.

We measured and recorded the distance the rockets travelled, comparing results, noticing that rockets travelled different distances depending on how much air was inside the balloon. This led to thoughtful discussion and excellent use of scientific language.

We concluded that a stronger force created more motion, helping the rocket travel a greater distance.

We have discovered fascinating facts about the planets and proudly created our own fact files, brought coding to life through fun Star Wars themed projects, and begun designing our very own solar systems. Watch this space to see our solar system evolve!

Walk to the North Pole

This week our pupils are taking on an exciting and ambitious challenge: walking the distance to the North Pole to raise funds for our school. Step by step, mile by mile, the children are working together to reach their goal – showing resilience, teamwork, and incredible determination along the way.

We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and commitment – even in the glorious British weather! Thank you to everyone who has supported the challenge so far. Together, we’re proving that no distance is too far when we’re walking with purpose!

Today, Crew Godley took time to reflect and remember those who have served and sacrificed in times of conflict. Through thoughtful discussions, art, and a special remembrance activity, the children explored the importance of respect, gratitude, and community. Our crew showed great empathy and understanding as they considered the significance of Remembrance Day, ensuring that the bravery and dedication of others are honoured and never forgotten.
