Crew Challenge

Children in Crew Godley took on an exciting Crew Challenge – to work together and build the tallest free-standing tower that could hold an object for 10 seconds! Using teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving, every crew rose to the challenge. The results were fantastic, with towers of all shapes and sizes showing just how much we can achieve when we collaborate and show determination.

Why did the Romans invade Britain?

In our expedition, Coming to Doncaster, Why then, Why now? We have been exploring why the Romans came to Britain. We learned that they wanted treasures like gold and silver, as well as land and power. After that, we wrote a letter pretending to be a Roman soldier on their way to Britain. We enjoyed imagining what it would be like to be making such a voyage.

Magic Mathematicians!

Today in maths, we have been exploring place value with numbers up to 10,000. Crew Godley worked hard to read, write, and partition large numbers, showing great resilience when faced with tricky challenges. I am so proud of the determination and focus they showed as they deepened their understanding of number!

Creating Roman Coins

As part of our hook into our new expedition, the children had the opportunity to design and create their own Roman coins out of clay. They carefully considered the symbols and designs used by the Romans and thought about what might be important to feature on their own coins.

Carcroft Crew Graffiti Project

Today we worked together as a whole school crew to design and create our very own graffiti wall! With the support of expert graffiti artists, we learned new skills and used our creativity to celebrate everything that makes Crew special. From sharing ideas and sketching designs, to choosing colours and spraying the final masterpiece, we collaborated as one team to bring our vision to life. Our graffiti wall now stands as a bold reminder that when we work together, we can achieve something amazing!

Fieldwork to Murton Park

KS2 have had an amazing day at Murton Park immersing themselves into life as Romans. We have made oil lamps, learnt Latin, joined the Roman Army and fought the Celts.

The children conducted themselves so well and we are extremely proud of them all.

Hopefully everything we have learned today we can build on over the course of our expedition as we learn more about the Romans and why they decided to come to Doncaster.

What do our HoWLs look like in crew?

This week, in crew, we have have been busy exploring our HoWLs (Habits of Work and Learning). Together, we thought carefully about different scenarios and discussed whether they showed Working HardGetting Smart or Being Kind. It was fantastic to see the children reflecting on their choices, sharing ideas with one another, and recognising how our HoWLs help us to grow not just as learners, but as kind and responsible members of our Crew.
