We’ve had a lovely day celebrating World Book Day in Crew Welburn today. We’ve shared our costumes, talked about our favourite stories and made character masks!

Last week in Crew Welburn, we were exploring capacity! We used new vocabulary to describe how much water was in the containers and compared how much each container could hold. We had lots of fun!

We have loved having parents in again for our Y1 reading cafe today, thank you again for spending the time to come and read with your children! 💕

During our DT case study, Crew Godley have been exploring where their food comes, we have learnt so much. we cant wait to create our own healthy plates 🐷🐮🌳🌾

Some of our recent provision activities linked to our work on plants.

We have started to see some progress with our sweetpeas, carrots and wildflowers! we keep watering them and making sure they have everything they need to grow into strong, beautiful plants!
We have been discussing the life cycles of plants and trees within our expedition lessons. we used pictures to order the life cycle of a sunflower before using natural materials to show the life cycle of a sycamore tree.

A little late in posting due to technical difficulties, but Crew McGlone celebrated pancake day in the best way… by making pancakes and decorating them with lots of yummy toppings! They were delicious, thank you to Mrs Gilliland for helping us making the pancakes.

In writing, we have started to prepare ourselves for our independent write by starting to generate ideas to support us on writing days.
We used scenarios similar to what we would be writing about to help us relate to the event and really put us into the moment.
Some fantastic discussions and freeze frames by the crew. I love how Jack is contemplating how to ’work around the system’

This morning in Maths we have had some time to really focus on equivalent fractions. We used Mymaths which allowed us to work at our own pace through the lesson before completing the online homework. This has helped children to really think about the process when finding equivalent fractions. Do we need to multiply or divide? Have we remembered to use the same operation on the denominator and the numerator?
