Today we pretended to be the Big, Bad Wolf and crept quietly to Granny’s house. When we got there her bed was empty, we think she’d been scared by all the howling! Some brave wolf’s even tried out Granny’s bed!!

Today in KS1, we explored the bible and why it is important to God. We began by playing ‘spot the bible’. We wondered and noticed which bibles were the same and different and the reasons why this could be.
We then read one of the stories from the bible, ‘Jonah and the Whale’. We worked together to retell the story in mini crews.
Today we have taken our song ‘Tony Chestnut’ and looked at how to play a call and response melody on the glockenspiel. We made sure that we knew the sequence of the notes we needed to play and practised repeatedly. Miss McGlone started the piece by playing the ‘call’ part of the melody and we then played the ‘response’ part as a crew. We showed great resilience when practising to perform together and gave critique on what we did well and what we needed to do better next time. The end product sounded amazing and we can’t wait to get even better next week and add in singing whilst we are playing too! ✨
During our writing lesson, some children access labs of learning to enhance their knowledge of vocabulary which they then use in their pieces of writing. Today the children were shown how to use the iPads to access a QR code which then led to a step by step video teaching them how to draw Little Red Riding Hood. The children worked in pairs to do this and all worked extremely hard to use these new skills and produced a great piece of art work!
As part of our expedition we have been looking at the British artist, Dennis Creffield. He used charcoal to draw every cathedral in England. We have been using charcoal to draw our school building. We have also thought lots about re-drafting and how we can use kind critique to help each other improve. These are a few of our final pieces 🏫
We have started creating our background to produce our final piece of art work, watch this space……
Today in Crew Pashley, we practiced counting different amounts using different objects. We are practicing counting amounts larger than 20 this week. Today, Charlie counted how many treats we had in our treat tub, and how many conkers Miss Haddock had given us. We also matched the number card to the correct amount of apples on the matching card.
We went on a walk today to visit Granny and take her a basket of fruit and just like Little Red Riding Hood we met the big, bad wolf hiding in the trees! Afterwards we talked about what we saw and heard in the woods and how we felt when we saw such a ferocious wolf. We can now use all these ideas in our writing tomorrow!
What a start to the day! This really challenged our thinking and encouraged some really effective communication skills and team working skills. Well done Crew MI 🙂
We started our new writing topic today by reading Little Red Riding Hood. Then, we chose items for our baskets to send to Granny’s house🏡We talked about which foods are healthy 🍌🍓🍎and not healthy.🍬🧁We chose which foods we would like when we are sick like Granny👵🏻.
We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped and supported KS1’s bake sale, we managed to raise £109 for Doncaster Changing Lives. This is just the start of KS1 being heroes in the Carcroft community, look out for what we do next!
