What a fantastic start to the week! It was lovely to see the children back in school today along with some crew members we’ve really missed ❤️

Highlight of the day:

The children really impressed me in Crew this morning and circled up quickly and quietly. It was like we’ve never been away and we remembered to display learning behaviours which demonstrated we were working hard to be ‘green’ standard. We enjoyed sharing our adventures over the half term holidays – it sounds like the children had a lovely time sharing time with their families, going on lots of walks and trips to the park 🌳🦮☀️👩‍👩‍👦‍👦

We also had a fantastic time in PE today, developing our listening skills and following three step instructions. We had to be sneaky pirates 🏴‍☠️  today and steal treasure 💰  from the pirate ship pirate 🏴‍☠️ whilst avoiding a sneaky crocodile 🐊  trying to eat us!

Howl Heroes:

🟥Work Hard: Zach for his perseverance and concentration when writing his name today. Not only did he write his first name independently but his second name too! His handwriting was also beautiful in phonics when were we practising our letter formation.

🟦Get Smart: Roseanne for her consistent attitude her learning, even after six weeks off school Roseanne worked so hard to show me that she was ready to learn.

Well done everyone, have a lovely evening in the sunshine

Wonderful Wednesday ✔

Highlight of the day: Children worked hard today in our Write Stuff lesson, using the ‘noticing’ lense. We have really enjoyed the story ‘Bringing down the Moon’ and we thought about how mole looked and felt. Many of us had not seen a mole before so this led to some interesting discussions and internet research. We also spotted the moon when we were on our daily moonwalk, we concluded that we wouldn’t be able to bring it to earth!

We explored the word ‘reflection’ and SJ demonstrated he was ‘getting smart’ by using what he already knew to explain how mole could see himself in the water.

We had some beautiful work produced ❤

HoWL heroes:

SJ and Shelby for their beautiful writing, they worked independently and thought carefully about the steps they needed to take to ensure they were successful.

Today we were so excited by the snow! When we went out to the daily mile we discovered that the muga pitch resembled the moon with its dusting of snow. We made giant strides in the snow just like Neil Armstrong!

In math’s today the children used their measuring skills to measure how tall the aliens were, find the corresponding number and the write it! The children worked in perfect partners to help each other when things became a little tricky.

Todays HoWL heroes were:

Lilly-Mae – Lilly has worked so hard today to get smart. She has applied her phonics and her math’s skills.

SJ – SJ wrote a beautiful valentines card today. He applied his phonics skills to spell some really tricky words.

Highlight of the day:

PE – The children worked so hard with Coach Dylan today, our mission was to ensure the gorilla didn’t steal all the fruit from the jungle 🌴🌴 The children had to move around the jungle in various ways – monkeys, snakes and jaguars 🐒🐍🐆 It took skill and great listening skills to ensure we didn’t wake the gorilla – we had three step instructions which we all tried really hard to follow 🦧

Todays HoWL heroes were:

Teddy – Teddy got smart today by writing his name independently. He has worked so hard on this and very proud!

Zach – Zach worked smart today and produced some lovely handwriting. He has shown great skill and determination when working on his handwriting.

Noah – Noah is always kind and respectful to his peers and teachers. Noah always shows ‘green standard’ and never lets this slip.

Taylor – Taylor has worked hard today to ensure that he is working hard and showing green standard. He has listened carefully and followed instructions first time. Well doen Taylor – keep it up!

Highlight of our day today was RWI.

The children at home and in school have been working so hard to recognise their speed sounds and blend CVC words together using Fred talk 🐸

Keep practising everyone 🙂

The children worked super hard in math’s today recognising and ordering numbers to 10/20.

We will be setting a home learning challenge for all children to be able to recognise their numbers to 10 or 20 over the next two weeks. There will be a special prize for the children who make the most progress. More information will follow tomorrow 😊

Today HoWL hero is…….

Get Smart – Dominic

Dominic has worked super hard writing his name, he has persisted and kept going when it became a little tricky. So proud of you Dominic!

Wednesday ✔

Work hard Wednesday has been our motto today! I am so proud of how the children have settled back into work today after a fun day in the snow yesterday.

Highlights of our day include:

Making alien patterns in math’s – using two and three colours. The children really enjoyed this and some children even made alternative patterns using three colours – super clever!

Write Stuff – exploring how Albie, the main character in ‘Welcome to Alien School’ felt throughout different plots points. The children blew me away with thier explanations about how and why he was feeling the way he did. This seems to be one of the children’s favourite stories so far and I’m sure if you asked them they would love to tell you all about it!

You can find it here:

HoWL Hero today was…….

Get Smart – Sydney. Sydney absolutely loves phonics and her confidence keeps on growing. I have to share with you a little video which showcases how hard Sydney works when she is at home. Keep up the great work Sydney!

Work Hard Heroes!!

We have our first HoWL hero of the day! Shelby is working so hard to ‘get smart’. I am so proud of our Crew and their dedication to produce beautiful work. I would like nothing more than to keep updating our Crew blog with your beautiful work produced at home.

Shelby’s been super busy already, she’s re-told her favourite story, The Runaway Pea and her favorite character is the runaway pea! We love this book in our crew and often compare it to the ‘Super Potato’ collection. I wonder if you could tell your grown up what is the same and what is different about the stories.

Look at this beautiful writing! Fantastic letter and number formation Shelby!

SJ has been up super early making his fantastic Snowman! It’s nearly as tall as you SJ!

Lydia and Millie have also made some fantastic snowmen! Followed by number work 🙂

Summer has produced some beautiful work – look how well she has sat her letters on the line! Beautiful handwriting, Summer! I love your snowman too, Summer! You look so proud 🙂

What a fantastic way to practise writing your name, Zach!

Sydney has been working super hard on her name! Well done 🙂

Crew Godley ☺️ Snow Day ⛄️ Home Learning

Good morning everyone!

Today is all about ‘no screens’ how exciting!

I’m sure you’ll all want to be outside playing in the snow and making some wonderful snowmen ⛄️ I would love to see your pictures on class Dojo.

I have some challenges for you today, I’m sure being super smart you’ll be able to show me how hard you work at home too!

Challenge 1: Can you write your name? Remember to keep all of your letters the same size and sit them on the line.

Challenge 2: Recite your numbers to twenty and write down as many as you can! Can you say which number is one more / one less than any number to 10/20?

Challenge 3: Use your phonics keyring to do your super speedy sounds! Can you take the sounds off your keyring and make as many words as you can? You can make real words and alien words. Your grown up could film you reading them to share with our Crew.

Challenge 4: Can you re-tell your favourite story to a grown up? Remember to read with beautiful expression! Can you tell your grown up what happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story? Who was your favourite character and why?

Other challenges you might want to try are:

Get building! You could build a Lego model, a tower of playing cards or something else! Can you count how many pieces you have used? Name the colours?

Build a reading den. Find somewhere cosy, snuggle up and read your favourite book!

Use an old sock to create a puppet. Can you put on a puppet show for someone? You could make an alien puppet!

Do something kind for someone. Can you pay them a compliment, make them something or help them with a task?

Design and make an obstacle course to train to be an astronaut!

Junk modelling! Collect and recycle materials such as yoghurt pots, toilet rolls and boxes and see if you can create a rocket or a spaceship to help fly the alien home.

I can’t wait to see all of your beautiful work ☺️

Daily Blog Crew Godley 29.01.2021

We have been super busy today in F2 perfecting our handwriting! The children worked incredibly hard in RWI followed by a handwriting session to perfect our letter formation ✍🏾

The children really enjoyed observing a rocket 🚀  launching into space 🌍  it was very exciting! We then discussed what we would like to take in our rocket, lots of children said they would like to take their families and friends which demonstrates to me that the children really value the importance of crew! We then used our phonics skills to write down who and what we would like to take to the moon. I was so impressed by the children’s independence, especially SJ who wrote some really tricky words! Keep up the great work everyone!

HoWL heroes today are:

Being Kind – I would like to praise several children for always setting a fantastic example to our crew, they are:

Kyla

Evelynn

Teddy

Noah

These children always, always show green standard, they work hard on the carpet, always have their listening ears on and show that they are ready to learn. You are little superstars!
