Happy new year everyone! We hope you had a wonderful Christmas.
It has been so lovely to welcome all the children back into school. We have had a busy couple of days! Children have made a great start to hook week, they have taken part in both a Geography day and a Science day. The children have really enjoyed both days and have made a great start thinking about our next expedition.
On Monday children thought hard about climate change, what it is, how it has an impact on the world we live in and what we can do to help. We watched a variety of clips to support us with this. We then thought about climate change in our local area and the wider world.
From here we started to think about the benefits of rainforests. We used a variety of media to support us with this. Next we started to think about what Geography was. We discussed the different types of Geography and our thoughts on our next case study. From here we started to discuss key terms and showed these terms on a map and atlas. We then got creative and took part in an activity outside looking at key terms. We had to use a map and coordinates to do this.
In the afternoon we started to think about the country Colombia. We worked together and took part in a Kahoot quiz. We then built a bank of facts for our display. After this we looked at the story of coffee before taking part in some Colombian dancing!
