Crew Gerrard (10/2/21)

Wonderful Wednesday! We’ve had another great day online, for Crew Gerrard. We kicked off our day by thinking about the logo for Carcroft and then moved onto reading. We then cracked our maths today and worked hard to really understand that. The best part of today though was expedition, where we are working on researching latitudes and creating information in an exciting way. I can’t wait to see the finished projects! So many of our Crew could have been one of HoWL heroes today, but the chosen three are:

Work Hard: Ellie-May – you made sure that you understood the maths and even kept working through the start of lunch to make sure of that 😁

Get Smart: Evie for flying in maths, you were so confident with the work 😃

Be Kind: Jolie – you are such a cheerful person and your positive attitude helps everyone us all in Crew 😄

Our HoWL average was 2.8, so lets make sure that we improve tomorrow!

Today, we could’ve given anyone HOWL hero… but the lucky 3 were:

Work hard: Chloe – for a great improvement in her reading answers.

Get smart: Deacon – for fantastic ideas in expedition.

Be kind: Abigail – for helping out her classmates online.

🤩 We are super proud to say that our HOWL average today is 2.2! We’ve worked super hard to achieve this and we’re really now thinking about what each HOWL really means.

Crew Shields and Crew Longley – 9/2/21

A busy day in Crew Shields and Longley as we have continued to explore the Romans. We enjoyed a practical session that looked at the Roman army formations used in battle. This allowed children to understand how the Roman Army was effective and successful in building their empire.

Longley Crew Average:  3.1

Shields Crew Average : 2.5

Targets for this week : 3.2

How can we improve?

To improve our scores we need to ensure that we are listening to instructions so we understand what we have been asked to do. Demonstrating active listening allows us to get smart.

Crew Shields Get Smart Howl Hero – Alicia
Alicia always listens carefully to ensure that she can give her learning 100%. She is trying hard with her handwriting and letter formation.

Crew Longley Work Hard Howl Hero – Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn has been a superstar today. She actively listened and completed her learning to the best of her ability.

Snowy weather in nursery means exploring and adapting our learning ❄️☃️ We went out on the MUGA to do our daily mile and whilst we was walking around, we was discussing the snow and the different patterns we could see. Then at lunchtime we did some mark making with powder paint in the snow 🎨 ❄️ We observed what happened when the powder paint mixed with the ice and snow and made lots of different marks, the children had so much fun. Outdoor play and learning is so important ❗️We are in the process of trying to enhance our outdoor area and we received a very kind donation today of wood chippings bought for us. Thank you so much ❤️ We are looking forward to you all seeing how we are going to improve the area 🙊

We continued learning about Chinese New year today and we tasted some yummy Chinese food. We tasted prawn crackers and sweet and sour noodles 🍝 They were delicious and the children all tried them, as the saying goes you don’t know you like something unless you try!

We are working hard to build on our tidying skills and help each other to look after our classroom. Well done Eveah for always doing the right thing the right way and aiming for green standard, even though she has only been in our class a few weeks! 🤩

Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 9/2/21

We’ve had a tremendous Tuesday in Crew Wilson!

Highlight of the day:

Our expedition lesson, where we have created swords as part of our learning about castles. We worked fantastically as collaborators with this project and we are so proud of how our work has turned out! Tomorrow we will be moving on to shields, and once they are completed we will be effectively protected ready for our fierce crew battle after half term!

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: Daisy for staying on track with her learning this afternoon even with distractions, and following the instructions to ensure her sword was beautiful!

Get Smart: Stevie for having great listening ears today and correcting her writing independently, well done!

Be Kind: Mia for looking after the classroom and always asking for jobs so she can help teachers out!

Howl Average:

3.0 – a slight dip due to listening skills and paying attention, some children have had to lower their ‘Get Smart’ scores for today but are aware of their personal improvement target for tomorrow! Let’s get to 4.0 by the end of the week Crew Wilson!

Crew Marsh: 9/2/21

✨Star moment✨

Star moment today was seeing the crew work together as a team in PE. This was great to see as it is something that Crew Marsh can sometimes struggle with. Keep up the crew spirit!! 👍👍

Average is: 2.4 – this is a massive drop and a real shame 😢

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.1

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Crew Marsh need to continue to make sure they are fully concentrating on their learning and listening to instructions, we have been chatty again today and I think this is effective our positive attitudes towards our learning.

Howl hero:

Work hard today is Mia!

I was super impressed today watching Mia in PE, is was great to see her joining in and having a lovely time. Great positive attitude Mia!!

Crew Ferguson and Crew Flaherty Reading Ideas

We are really trying hard to improve our reading skills in school, and thought these ideas were great to support children at home.

Have fun reading at home everyone Please make sure you share all your reading photos with us 👍

We love to hear all about your favourite stories. Xx

What a terrific Tuesday we have had today!

The children have continued to work on their 2nd expedition case study and looked closely at materials and their properties. We worked in mini crews and together located different objects around the classrooms to discuss what materials they were made out of. We then deepened our understanding of materials by discussing the materials properties. We found out that windows were made of glass, which is both strong and fragile. We also found most glass objects are transparent.

The children are loving their expedition this half term, keep up the great work everyone.

Our HOWL average today was 3.1! Amazing everyone 🌟
