We’ve worked really hard in our expedition lesson today, learning all about different types of castles and how they have evolved over time. We went on a treasure hunt to find the different castles and then learnt about the different parts and their names 🏰

HOWL Heroes:

Get smart: Nathan👏

Be kind: Scarlett👏

HOWL Score: 3.2 Well done Crew Welburn!🌟🌟

Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 23/02/21

We have had a terrific Tuesday in Crew Wilson!

Highlight of the day:

Another fantastic expedition lesson learning all about the different types of castles and how they have developed over time. We had an exciting treasure hunt around the classroom trying to find pictures of the different castle types, such as a motte and bailey, concentric and a stone keep!

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: This goes to April for her fabulous attitude to learning today, well done!

Get Smart: This goes to Declan for his massive improvement in regards to listening to instruction today!

Be Kind: This goes to Eva for her kindness to the whole Crew, well done!

Howl Average:

3.1 – A slight dip in ‘get smart’ scores, hopefully we will have improved listening skills to get it higher tomorrow.

Crew Elmer Daily Blog 23.02.21

Terrific Tuesday!

Despite the wet start 🌨 and the cold wind 🌪 outside today we have had a great day in Crew Elmer! 😁

Star moment of the day:

Today’s star moment today has got to be in ‘The Write Stuff’ lesson this morning. I was super impressed with how well the children could retell the story of Romulus and Remus as well as remembering the different characters, settings and key events. I was also blown away with the storyboards that the children created, the illustrations were neatly presented and the captions were well written. This is really going to help us to write our playscripts next week!

Todays HoWL average is: 2.9

A slight dip from yesterday’s HoWL average but this is still a good score and not too far off 3.0! 🙌⭐🤩

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Crew Elmer need to make sure that they are working hard at all times and are actively involved in every lesson enabling them to complete their learning and get smart!

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today’s HoWL Hero was Ryleigh. Ryleigh has proven to be a ‘dark horse’ today! Ryleigh will admit that she isn’t always that confident in maths and will often think she cannot do something when she can. Today we all completed an arithmetic test paper and Ryleigh blew us all away with her score! She came second in the whole crew and was the highest scoring girl! I really hope that this news gives Ryleigh the confidence boost she needs and makes her realise that actually she is a very smart girl!  👏⭐

Crew Kent Blog 23.2.21

Today, we could’ve given anyone HOWL hero… but the lucky 3 were:

Work hard: Kai – for working hard on his first day back.

Get smart: Roxanne – for starting to understanding mixed number fractions.

Be kind: Lexie – for supporting people online.

🤩 We are super proud to say that our HOWL average today is 3.2! We’ve worked super hard to achieve this and we’re really now thinking about what each HOWL really means.

Crew Ferguson Daily Blog 23.2.21

Terrific Tuesday! We have had a fantastic day today. We used our investigating skills to decide which material to make our own model Lincoln Castle. After vigorous questioning and testing we have decided as a crew to use cardboard. We found that cardboard was light to use (as it floated),  it was easy to join together using both glue and masking tape, it was easy to paint and it could stand up easily.

Over the next few weeks we will be looking closely at Lincoln Castle and making our own mini version using cardboard. We will be working in mini crews to create a model which will be shown on display in Lincoln Castle itself. We are so excited!

Our crew HOWL average today was 2.9! Well done for the improvement.

Crew Marsh: 23/02/21

✨Star moment✨

Star moment today was seeing how the children applied themselves to their arithmetic paper, they did great! They all really concentrated and made sure they answered all of the questions, even if some of the questions were tricky. Good resilience Crew Marsh!! 👍🙌

Average is: 3.0!!!

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Crew Marsh need to continue to make sure they are fully concentrating on their learning and listening to instructions and making sure they are not chatting whilst completing work.

Howl hero:

Work hard hero today is Lottie!

We have loved having Lottie back in Crew Marsh today! Lottie has got on with her work, like she had never left! Even though she has learnt online for the last 5 weeks!! Well done Lottie, I am so interested with how hard you have worked. 😁💕💕

Crew Gerrard (23.2.21)

Tuesday is now complete! It’s been another solid day day from Crew Gerrard, which I am happy to hear about. They have worked hard on their drama skills in preparation for writing, improved their confidence in maths and tried to understand more about how the world works. It’s been a difficult choice, in the best possible way, to choose our HoWL heroes and they are:

Work Hard: Kian for fantastic knowledge and enthusiasm during expedition 😁

Get Smart: Tyler for a great attitude and determination during maths 😃

Be Kind: Hassan for having a really positive attitude all day 😄

Our HoWL average was 3.0, so let’s see if we can build on that tomorrow 😆

Year One – The Battle of Carcroft Primary

Year One have used their weapons to attack or defend the castle, in what we have dubbed ‘The Battle of Carcroft Primary’.

Watch the video below to see our epic fight to the death!

(No children were harmed in the making of this video – they look fierce and angry but it is just acting!)
