Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 18.3.21

Highlight of the day: We had a bit of a change to our timetable today and had expedition as our first lesson of the day. In this lesson we practiced design technology skills in preparation for creating our final product, and worked hard at scoring, cutting, layering and bending card. I was absolutely blown away at how amazing the Crew’s listening skills were, they worked so hard and collaborated brilliantly together! Our visitors were very impressed with our learning and we had a fantastic lesson, well done everyone!

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: This goes to Aleks today for his great work in expedition, Aleks listening carefully to the instructions and worked brilliantly in his group to practice those creative skills, well done!

Get Smart: This goes to Eva today for always being ready with an answer for every question I asked, and for using our working walls to help her remember what we have already learned about, great work!

Be Kind: This goes to Stevie today for being kind to her teachers by always being ready to learn, well done!

Howl Average:

3.9 – lots of 4’s across the board today, well done Crew Wilson! Let’s see if we can get a full house for the last day of our week 🙂

Tiring Thursday!

I’m not sure if it is my pregnancy or just these busy weeks but I have definitely felt tired today! It is reassuring to know that the children are feeling the same! Not long to go guys! The weekend isn’t far away!

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Today’s ‘star moment’ has got to be Expedition. We had a great morning listening to our school nurse, Sarah, talk about dentists, teeth and mouth hygiene. It was incredibly informative and we learnt lots! Thank you Sarah!

Todays HoWL average is: 3.3

A slight dip but still great that we are above 3.0! 🙌👏👍

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.4

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Our crew need to work together to ensure that EVERY crew member is focused on their learning and remains positive at all times.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today’s HoWL Hero was Ryleigh! Ryleigh was chosen by myself for working incredibly hard all day. In writing Ryleigh often struggles with her spellings and ensuring that her sentences make sense, so today she had a lot of ‘purple pen’ work. However, she didn’t let this faze her. She picked her purple pen up and edited all of her writing ensuring that it was the best it could be. I was super proud of her attitude and her determination, and like I said to the rest of our crew she is a great role model for others. A positive attitude will get you a long way! Great work today Ryleigh well done! Oh and not forgetting your excellent explanation in maths, informing the rest of the crew what ‘equivalent’ meant! 🙌🤩👏👍

Thrilling Thursday! We have done so much exciting learning today! Where to begin?

This morning we thought about how we can help our alien friend 👽 they are going home next week so we had to help them prepare for their journey. We talked about what makes a healthy pack lunch and started making sandwiches for the journey! Outside we thought about how to keep our bodies healthy so that we can show the alien how to keep fit on the journey. In choosing time we built a house for the alien to live in till his journey home, we think he’ll be very happy here till he heads home!

This afternoon we loved looking at the zoo animals outside. The children lead their own learning and wanted to look at images of the animals we have. We learnt that there are lots of types of elephant and that not all lions have a mane!

Today’s HOWL hero is Riley! He has lead so much of his own leaning today! Amazing independence 👏🏻

Crew Gerrard (18/3/21)

Terrific Thursday 🤗 We have had a great day in Crew Gerrard today. We have shown great perseverance in our writing of non-chronological report and especially in our maths. I am really impressed with this great attitude on display at the moment. Today, in our check out Crew, we were able to make some fantastic pledges to ensure that we have an even better day to end the week. Today, our peers chose HoWL Heroes and they were:

Work Hard: McKenzie has a great attitude to learning (Lucas) 😁

Get Smart: Evie has been praised a lot by her Crew Leaders (Amelia) 😃

Be Kind: Sapphire for putting a smile on our faces, listening well and being a great friend. She is kind to everyone (All of Crew G). 😄

Our HoWL average was 3.0! I wonder if we can keep showing that perseverance, especially in our tricky writing? 😆

Thursday✅

What a day we have had! We loved our expedition lesson today and we worked really well as a crew. We had to practice the skills that we would need to be able to make our model of Lincoln Castle today. We practiced things like scoring, bending, attaching and building up.🌟

HOWL Heroes:

Work hard: Harry 👏

Get smart: Nathan 👏

Be kind: Heartley 👏

HOWL Score: 3.3 Well done Crew Welburn! Keep it up!

Crew Marsh: 18/3/21

Star moment

Star moment today was seeing the children listen to our visitor. The children fully listened to what she had to say about dental hygiene. I wonder if anyone can remember any of the facts that we learnt! 😁😁😁

Average is: 2.7

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Crew Marsh’s target for tomorrow is to make sure that they are putting their hands up if they need something, we are starting to get out of our seats again far too much. Make sure tomorrow… hands up!

Howl Hero:

Our Get Smart Hero today is Mark!

Mark has blown me away with the knowledge he has remembered about teeth! He could tell me what every tooth was in our mouths and explain what purpose they had. Well done Mark!!

Crew Shields – 18/3/21

Crew Shields have had lovely day as we have had the opportunity to refine some of our learning and practice our Maths skills. The children haven’t been finding division easy but they have preserved and they are getting there. Children are going to try and practice their number knowledge at home to support them in their Maths lessons.

Crew Shields Average : 2.9

Targets for this week : 3.2

How can we improve?

To further improve, Crew Shields need to ensure that they are not fidgeting and playing attention.

Crew Shields Work Hard Howl Hero – IJ
IJ has been working really hard today on his maths and phonics. He has tried to work independently on some tasks and is working hard on his letter formation. Well done.

Red Nose Day

Don’t forget to wear something Red tomorrow.

We’re asking for a voluntary contribution of £1

Crew Longley – 17.03.2021

Today we have continued to discuss how we can improve our handwriting and presentation to become smarter and work harder. We have looked at ‘great’ examples from our school.

We have also been learning to use the ‘bus stop’ method to divide, developing our dialogue writing skills and learning how to dribble, pass and not lose an ankle in hockey.

Our HoWL average was: 2.9

Our HoWL target is 2.9

Miss Shelley chose today’s Hockey HoWL Hero. She chose Lydia S for her determination to listen and improver her skills. A great example of getting smarter in sport!
