Daily Blog – 18/9/20

Hi all,

Star moment of the day:

Today in writing, we managed to get through the 3 chunks for the plot point for today. The children tried hard to keep to the timings and they encouraged each other to keep going.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.8

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Next week, Crew Shields need to work on their listening and ability to follow instructions.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

This week we are concentrating on working hard because if you work hard, you get smart!

Our work hard hero today is: Maddie!!

Maddie always models good listening skills and shows a good attitude to crew. She completes her learning to the best of her ability.

Learning Legend:

Georgie –

Georgie  has been a great role model for Get Smart and Be Kind. When completing her learning, she always tries her best and is using her prior knowledge to support her with tasks. She is always eager to support her crew and help them if they find something challenging. This demonstrates a great crew attitude by ensuring no one is left behind. Well done.

Summary of the Week:

During this week, the children have really started to settle back into school life. We have been trying hard in all aspects of learning and I know this will continue in the coming weeks. It has been lovely to see the children tapping into their prior knowledge to support them with their learning. The confidence of some children is starting to bloom and I’ve every confidence that this will grow for all, as we move through the year. Have a lovely weekend!

Crew Attendance:

Our latest attendance was 100%. ✅ This means that we have exceeded the expected standard (97%) this week!

Crew Kent Blog 18.9.20

Well done Crew Kent another brilliant day!! First thing this morning the children enjoyed a socially distanced Learning Legends assembly in classrooms. Children then spent all morning working hard on their Science. They had to match up cards and then talk about the development of a baby within the mothers womb. After a fantastic game of Myth and Fact the children then created a timeline to show the development of a baby including information and pictures. Lunchtime came very quickly again with all the children being very focused throughout the morning learning how to greet each other in Spanish. After lunch children enjoyed a quick singing lesson before the end of the day.

Howl heroes for today – Work Hard = Deacon, Get Smart = Kai and Being Kind = Maxi

Learning Legend = McKenzie Groom

Have a fantastic weekend!! 😊

Daily Blog 17.9.20

Such an amazing day in our CREW today.

Highlights of the day:

All the children worked hard to partition numbers up to 100 using base 10 equipment. In English, the children have blown me away with their writing by including adjectives in their sentences to describe the delicious food at Coffee Corner.

HOWLS

Our Crew average for the day was: 2.4. A little lower than yesterday but still a fantastic score. Well done everyone.

HOWL Heroes:

Work Hard

Kelsey – for having a positive attitude to her learning.

Get Smart

Lacey-Jo – for listening carefully in every lesson.

Be Kind

Maria – for always using her manners.

Daily Post 17.09.20

Happy Thursday Everyone! 😁

Today has yet again been a great day in Crew Elmer! 👍

Star moment of the day:

Today I was blown away by the work that children have been doing in our ‘expedition’ lesson. We have been looking at ordnance survey maps including symbols, keys and routes. The children were great at guessing the different symbols and then used this knowledge to create their own keys for Carcroft. The children also had a go at drawing their own OS maps using the knowledge that they gained from our ‘mini expedition’ around Carcroft last Friday.

I was also pleased to hear this morning in Crew that Harry had a fantastic birthday and enjoyed eating lots of cheesecake! Not jealous at all! 🤣

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

Today our Crew average is lower than previous days. However, I believe that this is due to us agreeing on some new high expectations within our crew, as well as the children being incredibly honestly about their HoWLs. Excellent self reflecting Crew Elmer! 👏

This week’s HoWL target is: 2.9

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Elmer need to make sure that we are continuing to be kind to each other especially during partner work, and that we continue to work incredibly hard in EVERY lesson.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Crew Elmer nominated Ray for HoWL Hero for ‘being smart’ all day. Ray is always listening in class which really help him to get smart. In several lessons today Ray has also achieved ‘green standard’ and produced some beautiful work that he should be very proud of! Well done Ray! 👏

Crew Thiede 17.9.20

Highlight of the day

We have had a busy day in Crew Thiede today! The children have been drawing maps of the route we walked to get to Coffee Corner. They could recall all of the human and physical features that we saw on our walk, and were able to locate them on a map. Well done! 😀

HOWLS

Our CREW average for the day was 3.2 ⬆️

Our HOWL heroes were:

Work Hard

🌟Talia – For working really hard and focussing in every subject today.

Get Smart

🌟Rome – For persevering and trying so hard with his spellings to create a beautiful sentence.

Be Kind

🌟Sasha – For being kind to me and the class by listening when we are talking and respecting everyone.

I can’t wait to see who our HOWL heroes are going to be tomorrow! 😀

Crew Mcloughlin Blog 17/09/20

Today’s highlights

This morning we worked hard to consolidate our understanding of reasoning and problem solving when adding 1000s 100s and 10s. We also had time to refresh ourselves of rounding numbers ready for tomorrows lesson so we can get a head start. This really gave the Crew confidence and made them enthusiastic about tomorrows maths lesson. The Write Stuff lessons were jampacked with adjectives, parenthesis and alliteration! The Crew are loving writing and are already filling our inspiration station with fantastic sentences to magpie. In Book talk, we read another chapter of The Giver and got very competitive when having a tables chapter quiz.

In the afternoon we had our Kikks PE lesson which tested the children’s stamina and agility. The Crew definitely burnt lots of energy off so we finished the day by listening to calming music and ensuring we had proofread our writing and our presentation was perfect in our Write Stuff books.

HoWL Heros🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️

Our HoWL average today is 2.8

I praise how much our Crew feels like a school family already because of how lovely you all are!

I wonder if every Crew member can achieve our expected expectations and some go above and beyond and achieve 4s by going out of their way to Work Hard and in turn Work Smart.

I challenge us to have our expected standard tomorrow! We can do this and be the best Crew!

17.09.20 – Today’s Blog

Good evening,

Star moment of the day:

Our work on maps this afternoon in our theme lesson has to be our star moment, I think.  Not just with the detail of our maps but also the excitement that came when discussing our community!

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

A strong score today but we all know we can do better, especially if we want to beat last week’s total.  I praise everyone in our crew for their honesty and support of others though in correcting anyone’s reflections that are too low.

How can we improve this tomorrow?

We need to have a good day across the crew tomorrow in order to improve on this and we’ll have to Work Hard to achieve it; stay positive, try our best and ask for help if we need it!

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Be Kind – Ethan!  Ethan has really worked hard to show his kindness today and has been a good friend for all the crew in looking out for them and helping to ensure we all stay safe.  Keep this going, Ethan, well done!

Daily Blog 17/09/20

We have had another exciting day in Foundation learning new skills whilst also having fun! We have been baking some tasty buns 😋🧁 We learnt about the ingredients we needed, measured them out, mixed them together and of course the best part, we got to taste them! The children worked really hard following instructions and listening carefully, which isn’t always easy to do when we are so excited about the task we are doing!

I am also so proud of how the children have taken pride in their classroom today and worked as crew to help tidy up! It is really important we help each other and look after not only our own belongings, but our class belongings and our learning environment. Keep up the great work 👍🏻

Our HOWL Hero

Being Kind – Riley-Jay

Riley-Jay always uses impeccable manners, especially at snack and lunch time. Riley-Jay is new to nursery and already an excellent role model to his peers, well done!

Daily Blog – 17/9/20

Hi all,

Star moment of the day:

Today in Geography/PHSE, the children have been learning about what is meant by community and why it is important. It was lovely to hear the children talk about the different communities they belong to both in school and outside of school.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.0

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Shields need to continue working on their listening skills and incresing their pace when completing learning.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

This week we are concentrating on working hard because if you work hard, you get smart!

Our work hard hero today is: Kaylum!!

Kaylum has been working hard on his listening skills this week which has really shown in his writing today. It was clear in his independent sentences that he had taken onboard the ideas we had discussed as a class.
