Crew Elmer Daily Blog 16.10.20

Yay! It’s finally FRIYAY! 🙌 We have had a very busy week in Crew Elmer this week and we are all very much in need of some rest this weekend! 💤 Let’s hope we all come back refreshed on Monday ready for our final week! ☀

Star moment of the day: ⭐

This was a tricky one for me to pick as I was out for most of the morning! However, just seeing all of the Crew smiling when I came back into the class and greeting me with lots of lovely comments was pleasing to see and really put me in the ‘Green Zone’ after feeling very ‘red’ and ‘blue’ this morning😊.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

Another good HoWL average for Crew Elmer today! I think this means that we might get a spin on the wheel next week! 😁 Watch out Mr Tucker!!! 🤣

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.1

How can we improve this next week?

Next week, Crew Elmer need to make sure that they are following all of the HoWLS. It might be the last week of half term but it is crucial that we are still behaving as we would any other week of the year!

Today’s HoWL Hero: 🙌

Today I nominated Leo for ‘working hard’. At times this boy doesn’t always have a positive attitude towards his learning and often finds some tasks frustrating, but today Leo worked really hard in Maths. He participated well during the lesson and worked hard during our diagnostic 5 and fluency tasks. Excellent work Leo! Please can we see more of this Leo! 😊

Golden Ticket Winner for Handwriting: 📝

Unfortunately as much as Crew Elmer know I love cake… they didn’t vote me for the ‘Golden Ticket’ this week! 🤣 However, well done to Harry for winning the ‘Golden Ticket’ for most improved handwriting in Crew Elmer this week. Harry has been consistently joining his handwriting in all subjects, including maths and has ensured that it is legible at all times. Miss Laing was busy today but remind me on Tuesday morning that you will be getting your ‘cake and shake’. Another opportunity for Mrs Elmer to try and pinch some cake for lunch! 🤣 🍰😛

Learning legend: 🤩

This weeks ‘Learning Legend’ was Ryleigh! This girl doesn’t always get the recognition that she deserves during her time in school due to her quietness however this week she has really stood out to myself and her crew members. She has been ‘working hard’ in all lessons , even on Friday when we were learning about World Mental Health Day. She is also getting incredibly smart especially in Maths and her writing in The Write Stuff is really coming along and she is also trying really hard to get the Golden Ticket for her handwriting and presentation. Many of Rhyleigh’s crew members have also praised her for her kindness at playtimes and lunchtimes. It hasn’t been an easy time with Miss Hart not being here but this girl has really played her part and tried to keep the peace at crew play times so thank you for this Rhyleigh. Keep up the great work, you are often very hard on yourself but this week you should be feeling incredibly proud of yourself! Well done! 🥇👏👍🙌🤩

Weekly overview:

See below our exciting phase video to sum this week up! 👇

Crew Attendance:

Our latest attendance was 93.3% This means that we are working towards the minimum expected standard (97%) this week! I wonder if we can improve this next week? Don’t forget the Halloween Challenge! 🎃

Crew Godley Daily Blog 16.10.2020

What another wonderful week completed in Crew Godley! Today, I have observed our children and I am so proud of the progress they are making in all areas of the curriculum. The children are so enthusiastic and eager to learn, we just need to keep this up by showing ‘Green Standard’ all of the time. I am sure we can achieve this as the children who find this tricky at times are being encouraged by their peers to do so. We all want to work together to ensure all ‘Crew’ members work hard and earn our whole class, crew rewards.

We began to put final piece of our expedition together today, we are so excited to present it in a few weeks time. SJ took on the role of official photographer to gather resources we need to present our work. SJ even identified the shapes we might need to use for our final product – square, semi circles, rectangles and even compared some of the shapes to pizza slices!

Our HoWL heroes today were Grace and Freddie.

Grace and Freddie were using resources in provision to ‘get smart’. Grace found number four which is her age, she was able to tell me how old she was on her previous birthday and how how she will be on her next birthday! Well done Grace!

Freddie was excited to find number three as this was his age last birthday, he confidently told me all about his 4th birthday and how he was excited to be 5 years old next year!

I was impressed with Grace and Freddie as they both spoke confidently and in clear sentences which is such an important skill to develop at this age. We had a lovely conversation with some great turn taking skills.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!I can not wait to see the children on Monday, we might even have a little surprise for them! I wonder what that could be.. 🧙🏼‍♀️

Crew Boswell – 16.10.20

A good end to the week and we even enjoyed a second consecutive non-uniform Friday.  We enjoyed exploring states of matter in science and even began to look at what it means to conduct a fair test.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.1

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 2.8

I wonder if…

I wonder if everyone can spend 20 minutes practising their times tables over the weekend and manage to read each day.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Be Kind hero today is Ethan!

Ethan continues to show his kindness and today he was an easy choice for our HoWL Hero.  Knowing how frustrating noisy places can be himself, it was great to see him being supportive of one of his crew by asking those around her to quieten down a little as she didn’t like it.

Learning Legend:

Joseph!

Joseph has been fantastic this week. Whether it’s supporting his crew, practising spellings and hand-writing at home or asking what he needs to do next to improve, Joseph is a green standard superstar! Everyone is grateful for your help and we’re glad that you’re part of Crew Boswell!

Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 16/10/2020

Another week is over, and we have whizzed through so much learning.

The Crew have been working on resilience and independence this week and we have seen some fantastic work produced as a result. We’ve got messy in Theme and sniffed some stinky scents in Science. You can check out some more of what we have been doing on our Phase Blog at the link below👇:

Jemma really has been amazing over the last few weeks. She is really trying hard to read, practising red words and working on her phonics. Crew Shields – 16/10/20

Crew Shields have had another great week. I am really proud of how well they have settled and how hard they are working. We had the pleasure of working with another school this week when we sent them our Be Kind videos. They had lots of positive things to say about the work they have been doing. We also had the opportunity to take part in a work shop with Parliament which we all found very interesting.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.7

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Next week, Crew Shields need to continue working on being kind and how their actions impact others.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Work Hard hero today is: IJ

I have been really impressed with IJ’s positive attitude to learning and how eager he is to take part in his RWI lessons. IJ is starting to use the skills from RWI in all his lessons.

Learning Legend: Holly

Holly has been working hard on her independence since we returned in September. She is becoming more confident and willing to give things a go before asking for help. She is becoming more resilient and perseveres even when she finds something tricky. This is demonstrating a positive attitude to learning and shows she is eager to learn. Well done Holly.

Handwriting Hero:

Our handwriting hero for this week is Georgie.

Crew Nicholson Daily Blog 16.10.20

I think it’s safe to say this week has tired nursery children out! (And staff 😂😴) Each week we are making small steps in our progress and I can’t believe the difference in the children  when I think back to week 1 🥰 They come in lovely in a morning, they know to find their coat pegs and sit ready waiting for morning crew time. They have adapted to school routine and structure and are really thinking about their learning behaviours. They all really want to stay on gold standard 💛Lets keep trying really hard with our listening and keep being kind to get our HOWL average up.

One specific highlight for me this week is noticing the children’s relationships and how they look out for each other. It is funny how at this age when their best friend wants to play with someone else, they say they have had ‘the worst day of their life’ or their ‘heart is broken’. These moments may be comical but it is how children learn to regulate and manage their emotions, which is a big part of the Early Years curriculum.

We have some fun learning activities planned for next week and a surprise for the children on Monday… I wonder what that could be.. 🧙🏼‍♀️🧙🏼‍♀️🧙🏼‍♀️

Have a lovely weekend everyone ☺️
Some of my fave pictures from this week 🥰

Crew Welburn’s weekly reflection

I want to give a big shout out to the 6 children in Crew Welburn who earnt their chocolate bars by reading 4 times this week! 👏👏👏 I am really proud of you all for trying so hard to practice your sounding out and blending at home and I can’t wait to see how many more of you earn a chocolate bar next week 📚 🍫

Our HOWL Heroes:

Work Hard: Darcie 🙌

Get Smart: Evie 🙌

Be Kind: Heartley 🙌

This week’s Learning Legend:

This week’s learning legend is Charlie. Charlie has been amazing since returning to school in September. He goes above and beyond in every lesson to work hard and makes sure that he is always listening and ready for the next instruction. Recently, Charlie has been trying extra hard to make sure he shares his ideas by putting his hand up. Well done Charlie!

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.5 ✅
