Crew Nicholson Daily Blog 19.10.20

We began our final week of term with some spooky activities today 🧙🏼‍♀️💀 Hope it was a nice surprise for the children when they arrived at school to see all the staff as witches! I had them tricked I was magic and had some magic spells to keep them quiet 🤣We listened to the story ‘Room on the Broom’ and the children loved joining in with the phrases.

During PE with Kixx, we continued our Halloween theme, pretending to be Zombies, bats and vampires collecting the cones. The children did fantastic at matching colours too!

We made some witches with different shapes and the children worked really hard to identify shapes and put them together themselves in the right places.

HOWL Hero

Working Hard – George

George worked hard listening in PE and he was a great model to his peers, demonstrating what he should be doing and following instructions. Well done George ⭐️

Crew Marsh: 19/10/20

At the end of the day Crew Marsh circled up for crew time. It was lovely to hear members of the crew giving compliments to each other and being kind. Picking out peoples strengths and mentioning where people had made improvements today.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.1! 👍

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.2

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Tomorrow, Crew Marsh need to chat less about thing that wont help with the task, save these chats for break time.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Get Smart hero today is Millie!

The crew voted for Millie again, they said she showed good listening, on task and completed all of her learning.

Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 19/10/2020

Here we are already; the final Monday of this half term, and we have had a jam-packed day in Crew Wilson!

Highlight of the Day:

Today we have finally finished our paper-mache trees  and they look amazing!. As we didn’t have a lot of time to finish them off, some children were painting, some were cutting leaves and some were gluing leaves on a conveyor belt type system, the highlight of this day has been watching the children work together as Crew to achieve their goal. I’ve seen so much kindness been demonstrated between the children, helping each other out and celebrating successes, well done!

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: This Howl goes to Bobby-J today for his fantastic input in our maths lesson, where we have learned about the greedy crocodile who always wants the greatest number, well done Bobby-J!

Get Smart: This Howl goes to Tommy F, as he has had some time off of school recently, but has come back today and got stuck in with everything like he hadn’t missed a single day, keep it up Tommy!

Be Kind: This Howl goes to Tia for being so kind and offering to tidy up the resources from our Theme lesson, well done Tia!

Howl Average:

2.9

We’ve had a bit of a dip from our 3.0 average on Friday – we have established that we are all tired, but have decided that we need to power through this week and work as hard as possible, then we can have a good rest in half term. Lets aim for those fabulous fours tomorrow!

Monday ✔

What a great start to our week! We have begun our Halloween celebrations by exploring the text, ‘Room on the Broom’. I’m sure if you ask the children they will be able to retell the story with great expression!

You can see the story here 🧙‍♂️

We also began to create our final expedition piece, a banner to celebrate what wonderful things we do at Carcroft. In the words of Shelby, ‘we want everyone to come to Carcroft School. It’s the best place to be’. We used our knowledge of shapes to begin to create the front of the school.

Our HoWL heroes today were:

Working Hard – Noah and Declan.

Noah and Declan worked ever so hard in RWI today, they confidently blended Fred’s words together to say the real word. Declan also asked to practise his handwriting after our RWI sesion had finished – he was certainly ‘getting smart’.

Being Kind – Dylan. Dylan was being kind today by looking after his crew base. Whenever he had finished in a learning area he made sure it was just as he found it, without being asked to do so! Great work Dylan 😊

Crew Gerrard (19/10/2020)

Being kind: Evie 🦸‍♂️

Our HoWL average was 2.9!

Let’s make sure that we continue to improve tomorrow and beat our score from today.

Work hard: Olivia 🤣

Get smart: Lexie 😊

Be kind: Abigail 😘

🤩 We are super proud to say that our HOWL average today is 3.2We’ve worked super hard to achieve this and we’re really now thinking about what each HOWL really means.

Well done Crew Kent 👍

Crew Shields – 19/10/20

Today, Crew Shields enjoyed setting up and completing an investigation in Science. They put a flower in water mixed with food colouring to discover how water transports through the plant. Over the next couple of days they will observe the changes.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.8

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

To improve further, Crew Shields need to ensure they complete all learning to the best of their ability.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Work Hard hero today is Maddie!

Maddie has given 100% to all of her learning today and always tries her best. She is also working hard to ensuring her handwriting is consistent.
