Crew Gerrard (11/11/20)

Hi everyone,

We’ve had a pretty solid day today and have been really challenged in our learning today, especially reading. I need to see just a little bit more resilience tomorrow. It was difficult to choose the HoWL heroes for today and they are:

Working hard: Riley 🦸‍♂️

Get smart: Amelia 🦸‍♂️

Being kind: Ruby 🦸‍♂️

Our HoWL average was 2.9!

I know that tomorrow we will show even more resilience! 😆

Crew Kent Blog 11.11.20

Today, we could’ve given anyone HOWL hero… but the lucky 3 were:

Work hard: Lexie 👩

Get smart: Roxanne 🤣

Be kind: Kai 🤣

🤩 We are super proud to say that our HOWL average today is 2.7! We’ve worked super hard to achieve this and we’re really now thinking about what each HOWL really means.

Well done Crew Kent 👍

Thank you 🥰

We have been so blown away by the support shown towards our Foundation Stage Banner and we reached our target in less than 24 hours. Wow!. Thank you so so much.
However, we know that some parents have been unsure whether they can still donate despite the target being met…. the answer is YES PLEASE!
Mrs Godley’s and Mr Wilson’s family have been so generous and have donated a third of the amount we needed just on their own. This is amazing. But it did mean that we reached the target so much quicker than we ever thought. Thank you to both families, it means so much to us.
However, we know that parents would like to be able to say that they played a part in supporting the school with the banner too but when they got round to it, we had smashed the target!
Therefore, please feel free to continue to donate to our banner fundraiser if you wish to do so and anything that we do not use on the banner  will be used to buy some lovely new resources for your child’s class. We have not been able to buy loads of new bits this year with us having a restricted budget, so we would use this to replenish and improve our resources for Foundation Stage pupils. We will work with the children in crew time to decide on what they would like to use their pot of money on. We will share the amount left over from the banner and will then share some photos of what the children have bought to further improve the provision in their classroom.
This way, everyone can feel that they have played their part in the creation of the banner as well as supporting Crew Foundation to make it an even better classroom to learn in.
Your donations do not have to be big ones, just a £1 or £2 goes such a long way when we come together like this.
Thank you to those parents who did donate yesterday, we can spot a couple of names.
Here is the link to the Just Giving page.
Thank you in advance.

Crew Elmer Daily Blog 10.11.20

Turmoil Tuesday! 😵 Today has been a little crazy to say the least but as a Crew we have managed to pull through! 🙌

For those of you who are not aware… I am currently isolating due to a member of my household awaiting a Covid test result. Despite this I have been doing some live teaching via ‘Google Meet’ with the children and will continue to do so. I also have an incredible amount of faith in Miss Hart and Miss Clarke and know that they will run things well in my absence. If you have any concerns or queries then don’t hesitate to send me a message on Dojo. Thanks for your understanding during this time 😊

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Despite not being physically present in the classroom I managed to ‘dial in’ and see a number of lessons and activities today. The moment that was a highlight for me though was when the children and I finally got to see each other on screen this morning! 😄 The children were smiling and saying hello and how much they missed me already but with technology the way it is these days it was so nice to be able to ‘catch up’ 😊. I also caught the end of the The Write Stuff lesson this morning and it was great to hear some of the fantastic sentences that the children had written 👍 Great work Crew Elmer! 🙌 Well done! 👏

Todays HoWL average is: 3.3

This is a great score considering the number of changes that the children have had to encounter today! Well done Crew Elmer! 👏

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.3

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Elmer need to make sure that despite the fact that I am not physically present in the classroom that they still continue to follow the HoWLs at all times!

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today I got to listen to all of the praises via Google meet which was lovely after not being there all day and it was really positive to hear that the girls had been getting on well at Crew playtimes. However, the HoWL hero was awarded to Harley for ‘getting smart’. Harley was nominated by lots of crew members due to the resilience that he showed and that he did not give up when it would of been easy to do so! Excellent Harley! This is a great skill to have and sure will enable you to get super smart! Well done! 👏👍🙌🤩

What a lovely way to begin the week with our new expedition topic ‘who will we see in the woods today’. We read our new class text ‘Owl Babies’ and then did some mark making of owls🦉The children drew some lovely owls (better than mine 🙊) and as always, were so proud of their work!

The children came back into school for our bedtime story around the fire in the forest school with hotdogs and marshmallows 🔥 They were all so well behaved and it was a lovely experience 💕

HOWL Hero

Working hard – Franklyn-Ray

Franklyn-Ray is new to our class and has settled in lovely. He has worked hard to follow instructions and get used to a new classroom, new friends and new expectations so well done Franklyn! 🌟

Crew Godley Daily Blog 10.11.20

What a fantastic start to our new expedition 🌳🦉

“Who will we see in the woods today?”

We began by circling up and discussing as a crew our thoughts, feelings and wishes about our new expedition. We though now who and what we might find in the woods, what senses we could use to explore and which stories we would like to explore. We began by exploring the text, ‘The Owl 🦉 Babies’. This is one our our favourite texts to read! The children amazed me today with their independent work by drawing and labelling the owls from the story.

This evening we came back to school to immerse ourselves into our expedition. We shared the story of the Owl Babies in our Forest School🌳 We had hot dogs and toasted marshmallows as we read the story around the campfire 🏕 We’ve had such a wonderful evening, we can’t wait to do it again 🥰

Our HoWL heroes today were:

Logan – working hard. Great work today in phonics and maths ⭐️

Shania – being kind. Shania is always trying to engage her peers in learning and was doing a great job today motivating children to mark make outside. A teacher in the making!

Dylan – getting smart. Dylan, after a period of absence has come back to school today ready and raring to go trying his best all day and applying what he knows in his learning.

Crew Longley – 10.11.2020

Today, we have been thinking about a character’s emotions and how their body reacts and working on our calculation skills. We really need some help to learn our addition skills to 10!

Today’s HoWL average 3

This Week’s HoWL average: 2.6 (This meets the minimum expectation)

Our HoWL target is: 3

How can we develop  Working really hard to apply our addition and subtraction skills. We have been getting them mixed up when we applied them by ourselves.

Howl Hero

Lydia B. She has really blown our socks off across all the lessons today, especially maths.

RWI Reading and Homework

We have sent home the new RWI books and homework today. We are looking for  3 lots of reading and the questions completed to be ready for a lucky dip treat.
