Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 18/11/2020

We have had a tremendous day in Crew Wilson!

Highlight of the day:

We have been investigating candles as part of our expedition learning. Today our task was to create a labelled candle design, and the results were excellent! Lots of collaborative learning going on too, the Crew are so good at helping each other out when they are stuck, well done!

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: April for her fantastic attitude to learning today, such a role model!

Get Smart: Perrie for asking for help in writing when she was stuck so she could finish her sentence.

Be Kind: Toby for assisting his friends with their learning without being asked, well done!

Howl Average:

3.35 – a very slight increase from yesterday but I’m feeling positive that we are still on the rise!

Crew Godley 17.11.20

Today in crew we were blown away by some of the childrens learning in phonics. One group moved onto reading “Ditty” stories using partner work and fred fingers. 🐸 The children we so proud of themselves. They started by believing they couldn’t read the sentences and finished believing they could! 🌟 Well done everybody.

We have tried so hard as a crew today to improve our HOWL scores. Some of us have managed to up our scores 1 point! Well done Crew Godson! 😁

Well done to Dylan who received our HoWl here for getting smart today. Dylan has tried every activity within the classroom, amazing!

Well done to Skyla who recieved our HoWL heor for being kind today. She really is a superstar and such a good friend to everybody.

Crew Kent Blog 18.11.20

Today, we could’ve given anyone HOWL hero… but the lucky 3 were:

Work hard: Grace 👩

Get smart: Chloe 👩

Be kind: Crystal 👩

🤩 We are super proud to say that our HOWL average today is 3.1! We’ve worked super hard to achieve this and we’re really now thinking about what each HOWL really means.

Well done Crew Kent 👍

Crew Shields – 18/11/20

Today Crew Shields have had a great day. It’s lovely to see our Howl average increasing throughout the week. The children have really enjoyed the afternoon because they have been extremely active. They had the opportunity to explore different styles of music where they had to find the beat. They also showed how they would move/dance to each of these types of music. There were definitely some interesting dance moves!

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.4

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

To improve further, Crew Shields need to ensure that all members are participating even when it’s an activity they don’t particularly like.

Our Get Smart hero today is Reece!

Reece has been making more of an effort to complete his homework in the evenings. I know that this is huge for Reece. I’m confident that this learning at home will benefit him in lessons.

Crew Elmer Daily Blog 17.11.20

Wow! What a very busy Tuesday! Today has been non stop for everyone in Crew Elmer but we sure have all learnt a lot! 👍

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Today’s ‘Star moment of the day’ had to be Hooked on Books! ✏📚📒 During the ‘do now’ task I was super impressed with the children’s knowledge of the text that we have been looking at as part of our previous expedition. They were able to tell me 3 things about Storm, 4 things about Tom and 5 things about mining. As part of our ‘Book Talk’ session the children were all great a finding quotes, phrases and words in the text around the lenses, action, noticing and taste. Great work today Crew Elmer! Well done! 👏🙌🤩⭐👍

Todays HoWL average is: 3.3

Another great score Crew Elmer and we are still on track for a spin on the wheel! 👍

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.4

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Some crew members need to make sure that they are being kind to each other at crew playtimes as we had a few incidents yesterday. Crew Elmer also need to make sure that they keep a positive attitude and are respectful to all crew members.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

I again got the privilege of listening to the children’s praises for each other 💕 As a crew it was decided that Jazmin would be our HoWL Hero for working incredibly hard in all lessons today! I also noticed during Hooked on Books and lessons this afternoon that Jazmin had her head down and was keen to achieve ‘Gold Standard’. Excellent work Jazmin! Well done! 👍⭐🤩🙌👏

We have had a brilliant day full of learning in Crew Wilson!

Highlight of the day:

Today we have been very reflective about our writing, we looked at our previous work and decided how we were going to make it better. Following this, the whole classes handwriting improved for our new sentence in the Write Stuff and we were so proud of how beautiful our work was, fantastic work!

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: Jake for his massive improvement with his handwriting and presentation, well done!

Get Smart: Daisy for listening carefully when she read back her sentence and correcting it when it didn’t make sense, great job!

Be Kind: Tia for being a brilliant assistant crew leader and keeping the tables and cloakroom at green standard, well done!

Howl Average:

We stay steady at a 3.3, but with our new handwriting pledges I think those scores will soon shoot up to 4’s for consistently working hard!

Crew Thiede 17.11.20

Evening everyone!

Highlight of the day

We had another great dance lesson in PE today. We are coming on loads and are learning some great skills.

Our big focus for the rest of the week needs to be sitting calmly during learning. We have had the wiggles so far this week. This means that we can’t listen carefully which makes it harder to get smart.

HOWLs

Despite this we have a seen a big improvement in our HOWL score today, 3.2!

This is because attendance is up and our be kind scores are something for us to be proud of!

Today our HOWL heroes are…

🌟 Work hard – James

🌟 Get smart – Charleigh

🌟 Be kind – Catalina

Crew Boswell – 17.11.20

Another good day for us today has made this the best start to the week that we’ve had since we started in September.  Can we push on to make it the best week?  We’re continuing to develop our resilience and maths today was a test of that.  Things won’t always be easy and we’re learning that the challenges we face in our learning are what help us to progress and develop; they’re what we need to relish!

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.3

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.1

I wonder if…

Now that we are becoming more familiar with the writing rainbow, I wonder if we can start to push ourselves to use it more independently to write more in our morning session.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our HoWL hero today is Max!

It’s been a great day for Max today who has pushed himself to green standard in his writing and has definitely shown us all how to get smart!  If this wasn’t enough, his kindness has shone through with helping others in the crew when they’ve needed it and has even spoken out to support those with less confidence.

Crew Nicholson 17.11.20

Well, it’s safe to say today has been a busy day 😴 This week is World Nursery Rhyme Week and today we celebrated this focusing on one of our favourites ‘5 Little Speckled Frogs’. The children independently accessed the resources set up to sing the song, practising their counting and I also noticed some excellent group work as they took it in turns with the frogs 🐸 I wonder what rhyme we will be focusing on tomorrow 🤔…

We continued reading our class text ‘The Gruffalo’ and we then practised our mark making skills drawing the Gruffalo. The children did fantastic drawing using shapes and even drawing the purple prickles on his back! Amazing work 🌟

This week our colour of the week is Red and we have made collages using red materials. Well done to those children who have demonstrated their understanding of learning the colour by bringing in something red from home. We are also progressing in our creative skills by being able to glue and stick independently now 🙌🏼

HOWL Hero

Working Hard – Porsha

I observed Porsha playing in the speckled frogs tray today, doing some lovely singing and counting. Porsha can sometimes be shy, it was lovely to see that although she can be quiet in large group work, she is still learning and this shone through today. Well done Porsha 🤩🌟

I would just like to thank adults for supporting your child with their homework. I understand there are mixed opinions about homework, however the tasks set are really simple and to support the child in their development. It is great to see the children so proud of their work too ❤️
