Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 25/11/2020

Another whirlwind of a day in Crew Wilson!

Highlight of the day:

We have been exploring Christianity as part of our expeditionary learning and today we learned all about how Christians follow Jesus and explored the story of his life. My highlight is from our class discussion about what we had learned, Daisy asked “So Jesus died on a zebra crossing?”. Not quite the right answer but it kept us entertained either way and we all appreciated the laugh, thank you Daisy!!

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: This goes to Miami for her perseverance with her handwriting – today she has produced her most beautiful work to date, well done!

Get Smart: This goes to Jake today for showing off with his two enormous sentences in our morning writing task, great work!

Be Kind: This goes to April today for being kind to teachers by consistently showing green standard in the classroom, keep it up!

Howl Average:

Our average has taken a bit of a nosedive today but after some deep reflection this afternoon, the crew are confident we can get it back up to win a spin on the reward wheel, watch this space!

Crew Marsh: 25/11/20

My star moment today has been seeing how hard the children worked in their writing lesson. All children made sure their writing looked neat and took care when forming their sentences. Well done! 😁🙌

Average is: 2.9

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.3!

How can we develop this tomorrow?

We have had a fussy day again today, so I think our target for the week is for Crew Marsh to listen and follow every little instruction given. 👍

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Be Smart hero today is TommyE!✨🙌

Tommy’s handwriting has blown me away today! He worked so hard in our writing lesson this morning. Well done Tommy, I am so impressed!!

Crew Shields – 25/11/20

In PE, the children have been learning different types of jumps which is part of our dance curriculum. They have been encouraged to focus and use their core muscles to help them balance. Over the next few weeks, they will be starting to learn a dance based on a particular style.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

To improve further, Crew Shields need to ensure that we not allowing ourselves to be distracted by others.

Our Be Kind hero today is Tommy!

Tommy was recognised in PE for supporting his peers when they were struggling to perform some of the jumps in PE.

Crew Longley – 25.11.2020

A fantastic day. We have been working Miss Shelley to learn about a Christmas themed dance. We have been learning to travel, jump and land.  We have worked on our 8 times tables and completed our 99  club challenge.

Today’s HoWL average 3.3

Our HoWL target is: 3

How can we develop  To get smarter tomorrow, we are going to keep reading and working on our phonics.

Howl Hero

Our Hero today was Keaton. He has really worked hard today and even showed off a hidden dance talent. Well done Keaton.

Homework.

Please remember to bring your reading and homework back each day.

Water Bottles

We have had an increasing number of children without water bottles. Unfortunately, we do not have any way of providing cups or bottles at the moment. Please could I ask that everyone brings in a water bottle. Thanks

Crew Boswell – 24.11.20

What a day!  After a little reflection at lunch, we’ve had an amazing afternoon.  The highlight of the day has to be during PE.  After learning the start of a routine to some Christmas music, it was a pure delight to see the impromptu freestyle EVERYONE did after the routine.  It was so surprising that I’d even stopped filming the video of their dance.  Typical.

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.2

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.3

I wonder if…

I wonder if we can all score 4s for Work Hard tomorrow by having the same positive attitude in PE today throughout all of our learning tomorrow.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Get Smart HoWL Hero today is Nate!

What a day for Nate!  He’s been working hard trying to slow down his work to support him when producing beautiful work and it has been great to see his consistency developing here and his maths work especially is benefitting from it.

Crew Thiede 24.11.20

Another busy Tuesday in Crew!

Highlight of the day

The children had another great session with Coach Shelly today! We worked on our jumping and turning skills. We were very dizzy by the end! 🤪 And with only a month till Christmas Eve Coach Shelly put on Christmas songs which got us really excited 🎄

We then started to write our instructions ‘How to make a Diva lamps?’ 🪔 The children produced some really beautiful work and tried so hard with their nouns and ‘bossy’ verbs. 📋

This afternoon we started to make our expedition product. We were colouring sand in lots of bright colours, any guesses what we could be making?

HOWLs

Today our HOWL score dipped a little to 3. This showed us how important attendance is to our crew and how we all need to work together ❤

Todays HOWL heroes were

🌟 Work hard – Jude for a great attitude in PE

🌟 Get smart – Milena for achieving expected standard with beautiful work in writing

🌟 Be kind – Charlie R for being a role model to our whole class with his gold standard sitting on the carpet

✨🌟My star moment today has been watching the children learn their Christmas street dance in PE. The children loved independently adding moves into the routine. See if they can show you the routine so far at home as they remembered the routine so well!  I cannot wait to see the final production!🕺👯‍♂️

Crew Longley – 24.11.2020

Today we have been working on our 4 times table, writing the ending to The Present and continuing to learn about Sikhism and the Langar.

As part of this afternoons learning, we have retold the story of Guru Nanak and the Chapati. Click on the link to hear the children reading retellign teh story.

Today’s HoWL average 2.9

Our HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop:

We need to ensure that we are working hard all day. Some parts of the day have seen children drifting through lessons. I am sure we will work hard and get smart tomorrow.

HoWL Hero:

Our Hero today was Ava. Ava has been working hard at home to continue developing her phonics knowledge. Miss Holdsworth was blow away today with the improvement. Well Done!

Working hard: Amelia 🦸‍♂️

Get smart: Belle 🦸‍♂️

Being kind: Evie 🦸‍♂️

Our HoWL average was 3.4!

I want to see more of the same tomorrow! 😆

Today in crew we had a great time writing invitations for our Gruffalo party. The children used their phonic knowledge to write to the different characters in the story. They were encouraged to use their fred talk and phonics boards to write more sounds independently. 🐸We cant wait to celebrate tomorrow! 🎂

We also recapped our new maths learning using the whole/part model. The children were great and remembered lots of different ways of making the number 5. They loved pulling the numbers apart!

We also looked at the equal sign in more depth and how we use this in our maths learning. We had great fun.

Our HOWL heros today were Grace for being kind. Grace showed lovely manners and caring attitude towards others at diner time. We love having her in our crew. Logan received our HOWL hero for getting smart as he tried so hard during his phonic session and then used his new knowledge when writing his invitation. Well done both of you 🌟
