UKS2 Celebration of Learning
Thank you to everyone that joined us yesterday for our celebration of learning 🙂 We all loved showcasing our spring expedition!
Collage skills
Following on from learning about a new artist, we had an opportunity to practice some collaging using paper from old magazines. We discussed the important of cutting different shapes, overlapping and ensuring we filled in the blank spaces.
Having fun in provision
We’ve had so much fun in our provision today! We’ve watered our seeds to help them to grow, made patterns on the Easter eggs in the tuff tray, and talked about what you would see on the farm at the moment.
Making numbers to 10
This afternoon, we have looked at making numbers to 10. We started by selecting a number from the magic bag, and then choosing two representations from the pile of tens frames. We counted up all of the counters on the representations to see how many we had altogether and to see if we had made the magic number or not. After that, we made dominoes using our play dough and beads. We talked about how many were in each part and how many altogether.
Book talk continues in MI
Today we continued and finished our lesson from yesterday where we continued reading about famous inventors. We used a read around the robin today along with a chorus read. We then looked at our reasons to read.
Our entry ticket for todays lesson allowed us to work on our inference skills where we explored a picture. We thought about the girl in the picture and how she was feeling. We thought about who the characters were and what was happening in the picture. We explored the setting then thought about what the characters may be saying. There was lots of great discussion and thoughts expressed 🙂 From here we recapped the vocabulary we had explored yesterday with another entry ticket reminding ourselves of word meaning. We then moved onto looking at some written questions and worked independently to do this.
Money in MI
What a fantastic maths lesson! Today we continued our work on money where we converted between pounds and pence 🙂
Poetry in MI
On Friday Crew MI thought about Easter and what it means to Christians and what it means to us personally. We created an anchor chart all about Easter then put our ideas into a whole crew acrostic poem. We then created our own poems to go inside our Easter cards that we have created during our latest art slice 🙂 We are looking forward to taking these home and sharing with our families.
Shape Practice
Nursery had lots of fun in maths today practicing drawing different shapes and learning their shape names ready to practice sorting them tomorrow. Ruby even chose to practice drawing rectangles in provision this morning.
Publishing our writing in MI
MI are really enjoying publishing their non chronological reports on tigers! They are loving seeing their writing come to life whilst adding their own title, sub headings and pictures to their work. We can’t wait to see them all completed later in the week 🙂
