Year 2 music – playing the tune to Tony Chestnut on the glockenspiel 🎼 🎶

Today we have taken our song ‘Tony Chestnut’ and looked at how to play a call and response melody on the glockenspiel. We made sure that we knew the sequence of the notes we needed to play and practised repeatedly. Miss McGlone started the piece by playing the ‘call’ part of the melody and we then played the ‘response’ part as a crew. We showed great resilience when practising to perform together and gave critique on what we did well and what we needed to do better next time. The end product sounded amazing and we can’t wait to get even better next week and add in singing whilst we are playing too! ✨

Case study 1 reflection 🌍🛡️

Today we completed a kahoot quiz to really test how much we have learnt during case study 1. It was great to see the kids really engaged in their learning and remembering what they have learnt. Our top 3 children were 3 – Shelby, 2 – Charlie and 1 – Lydia. Well done guys! 🎉👏🏻

Roman Towns – What were they and why?

In our expedition lessons this week, we have found out lots of information about Roman towns. We focussed on six Roman towns in England: Londinium, Eboracum, Viriconium, Isca Augusta, Deva, Aquae Sulius. We used a map to help us locate where the Romans settled in the United Kingdom and then identified the main uses for these towns.

Basic Training – Roman Style!

To help us with our plot point in writing, Crew Hamill became Roman Soldiers for the morning. We went outside and took part in all the activities Roman soldiers have to do when they first join the army. Their basic training last for a whole four months – we were tired after just doing it for half an hour! We did a route march, some weapon training, battle drills and a keep fit class.

Tag Rugby 🏉

In active fusion we have been learning about the sport tag rugby. We learnt many techniques of how to throw and catch the ball. We found out that if you throw the ball forward it would be a fowl throw. Then we practiced the scissor technique until we got the hang of it. We cannot wait for the tournament that is coming up to see who will get chosen. Here are the stars of the lesson, well done girls!

Edit and redraft in MI

Wow, wow, wow! Crew MI have blown me away today in our writing lesson. Today we edited and redrafted two sections of our narrative. I am so proud of what we have achieved today and I can’t wait for our next lesson. We have really got smart by reflecting on our achievements and challenging ourselves to improve.
