The Write Stuff✍🏻📖
Crew Mcloughlin are throughly enjoying our new writing stimulus, which is The Lorax! Read on to find out what we have been getting up to in writing this week.
We then went on to grammar day 1 where we focused on applying cohesive devices. We were all really successful and had lots of sentences to use in PP1.

Scotty’s Heroes
This week’s session was enjoyed by all. The children started off playing games to get them warmed up which was evident when all their coats came off despite the cold weather.
They then had to work in pair to give each other instructions while one of them wore a blindfold. Have you ever tried walking in a straight line with your eyes closed? It’s not as easy as you’d think which was why clear communication between partners was vital.
Xp Outdoors
Well we couldn’t get into our forest area due to the rain but that didn’t stop us from getting outside. Crew Thompson enjoyed playing a game of basketball with the Crew Haddock.
Coding in AP
The children have had a lovely session in coding again today where they have supported the rest of their crew when they were struggling. Team Work🫶
Who were the Celts?
This week, we wrapped up our history case study by learning more about the Celts who occupied Britain before the Romans invaded.
We found how they lived very interesting.
New reading text
This week, we discovered our new reading text for this half term linked to our expedition. Lots of children excited to see what happens and learn more.
What makes me a good friend?
This week, we have been discussing the qualities that make us a good friend. Children shared with their peers how they were good friends to others. Lovely to hear them saying they are helpful, kind, thoughtful and considerate towards others.
Practicing our aim🏐
This afternoon Crew Thompson started dodgeball in PE. We focussed on developing our aim as this is a key component in a dodgeball game. We first had a hoop on the floor that we had to aim for. Then this progresses to picking the hoop up and moving it. We discussed how the throw would change depending on speed and distance. We can’t wait to keep developing our dodgeball skills and eventually play a huge game! 🏐
Maths in Crew MW!
This week, we have been grouping objects and talking about similarities and differences in maths! We’ve used our natural objects to create groups, and used the language, ‘more than’ and ‘less than’ to compare the groups.
