We’ve been enjoying making our own race cars in construction so this week we decided to create a race track to use them on. We worked together to attach pieces of paper together before using our phonics to write ‘start’ and ‘finish’, as well as add details and decoration to it.
We have been practising the colourful technique of Steven Brown so we can apply it to our final piece of a hedgehog.
I have been really impressed with how artistic Crew Marsh is.🖌️
After reading the Three Billy Goat’s Gruff, we decided we wanted to build a bridge that crossed the water tray so that the animals could cross over safely. Harlow and Hunter decided that it would be a good idea to use wood from the small world area but after trying to lay it across the tray, they realised that it was too short to cross on its own and so they tried to lay two pieces of wood across the tray. This made it longer but they were not secured and so kept falling into the water below. They worked together with Carsen and Kingsley to wrap tape around both pieces to secure them together. This worked and the bridge successfully provided a route for the water animals!
Crew Godley created some wonderful artwork today, using pointillism to create their menorahs.
KS1 have been exploring the artist Steven Brown as part of our expedition. Today we carried out a gallery walk, looking at the work of Steven whilst adding our notices, praises and wonders. We all agreed the colours he used were so eye catching and really made his work stand out. We then collected ideas for our own artwork, looking at animals native to the UK. We had lots of fun practising applying our skills in the style of a Steven Brown.
Today we began the art section of case study one by looking at the modern artist Steven Brown.
First we did a gallery walk to immerse ourselves and then shared notices and wonders.
We then had a go at being creative by drawing lines in the style of Steven Brown ready for our family learning on Wednesday where we will paint a hedgehog in this style.
Today in crew Marsh we made some bunny’s out of paper plates and cotton balls.
