Crew Godley created some wonderful artwork today, using pointillism to create their menorahs.
Crew Godley have been working hard, to get smart this week so that they can make their millions in years to come! We started our new unit, all about money. Jax was a superstar and could name and order the coins by value. We matched coins to values and then played a game on the iPads to reinforce our learning, well done Crew Godley!
KS1 have been exploring the artist Steven Brown as part of our expedition. Today we carried out a gallery walk, looking at the work of Steven whilst adding our notices, praises and wonders. We all agreed the colours he used were so eye catching and really made his work stand out. We then collected ideas for our own artwork, looking at animals native to the UK. We had lots of fun practising applying our skills in the style of a Steven Brown.
Our do now today allowed us to consolidate our learning around length. We used our rulers to measure a series of lines then had a try at drawing some lines too. We then moved onto looking at the perimeter of shapes which we all enjoyed doing. We will continue with this tomorrow 🙂
After a very windy week, Y2 took to the school grounds to clear up all the mess that the wind had blown in. They took great pride in ensuring it was spotless and ready for the week ahead.
Wow! I am so proud of the crew today, getting smart to produce beautiful work. We ensured we reflected on our presentation, sitting our letters on the line, using finger spaces and the correct punctuation. It was a lot to think about! We wrote with pride and I couldn’t have been more prouder at our first attempt to produce display writing. Well done Crew Godley!
During our expedition lesson, we had to piece together an image which was the map of the world. However, this map had new information that we hadn’t seen before. We learned that the Earth is divided into 7 divisions which are:
North Pole (Arctic Circle)
Northern Hemisphere
Tropic of Cancer
Equator
Tropics of Capricorn
Southern Hemisphere
South Pole (Antarctic Circle)
We then split into groups to do some research on one of the divisions before feeding back to the rest of the crew.
This morning, we had lots of fun whilst working on our communication and listening skills. We were able to play lots of different games where we worked as a team to achieve a common goal. We can’t wait for next weeks session ☺️
