Crew Marsh have loved sharing their writing with their adults 💕
In groups we tried to build the biggest tower using blocks to see if we could make Big Ben. Then we listened and counted how many chimes Big Ben did. He did 12 chimes which told us it was 12 O’clock – nearly our lunch time. Unfortunately, the king has still not found his crown!
I cannot wait to read Crew Marsh’s sentences tomorrow.
I am so impressed that 8 children got 17/17 on our arithmetic test! Well done guys, keep up the hard work! 🙌🏼
Did we manage to find the King his crown at the London Eye? The answer is no! We loved creating the London Eye outside and understanding how the pods constantly moved. We also loved watching videos of the views you can see from the eye. I cannot wait to read the writing tomorrow!
We have loved celebrating the King’s coronation in school today. We started off the day by celebrating all of the home learning the children had completed at home – this was amazing to see and really put a smile on our faces.
We then all created our own crowns to wear for the “street party” picnic in the hall. This was so fab! We all enjoyed our picnic food and singing the national anthem.
Finally, we spent the afternoon making flags and pictures to put up in our houses to celebrate the King’s coronation.
Have a lovely long weekend celebrating!
It is very important that children in KS1 are reading to a grown up at least 4 times a week an having this recorded in their reading record books.
Children in year one and those children in year two who still do RWI should also be practicing their sounds ready for the phonics screening in a few weeks.
Thanks
KS1 team.
With the phonics screening getting closer in June, we are really trying to push reading at home. Unfortunately there is only 4/25 that have read more than once this week. I am no longer sending home any other homework other than a reading book and RWI sounds. Please can this be completed with children at least 3 times a week.
The reading cafe has had a massively positive impact with reading on a Thursday with 10/25 adults reading with their child in this session. We really appreciate parents/carers spending this time to read with your children.
Please can all RWI books come back in again next week as we are missing a lot of books and I need to look through what we are missing and charge for missing books.
Thank you, I know by giving this a massive push at home too over the next few weeks we will see a massive difference in the children’s confidence in reading and your child will move up RWI groups.
I have felt so proud this week of how far Crew Marsh has come with their independent writing. It has been great to see all of their amazing ideas and their new found confidence when putting pencil to paper. Special well done to my super writers of the session! 💕
Today we looked for the King’s crown at London Zoo, we saw tall giraffes, roaring lions, cheeky monkeys and stripey zebras. We still did not find the King’s crown.
In Crew Marsh this morning we have been out cloud watching, we could see: a heart cloud, crocodile cloud, horse cloud, lion cloud and the clouds were moving.
