We are scientists

Today in KS1 we started the science case study of our expedition. We started by completing a blast off and KWL chart about different materials before working in our crews to sort lots of different materials by their properties. Well done KS1, you impressed us all with your knowledge!

Our KS1 Historians became Lords for the day!

Imagine what it would be like to be at the top of the Feudal system ordering the peasants around! The KS1 children had this opportunity and took great delight in creating the ‘rules’ for the afternoon. The children took great delight in setting the rules and ordering their crew leaders to be at their beck and call. it was interesting to whip-round and ask children where they would have felt most comfortable in the feudal system, some preferred the craftsmen role and some even doing the the work when they took on the role of the peasants.

Blindfolded crew challenge

This morning Crew Marsh and Crew Robson were challenged to take their partners around a circuit with their eyes shut! I think we had some peaking eyes as the children conquered their challenge. Next week we are going to dig out the blindfolds to see how they get on!

KS1 Historians become craftsmen for the afternoon!

KS1 children delved into the history the the crafts trade within the castle, creating their own clay pots. We explored the how the craftsmen used clay to create their own pots and fine wears for the Lords and Lady’s to feast from. It was not as easy as we thought to manipulate the clay as the craftsmen would have done in the medieval times with very little tools.

Y2’s Banner is up!

During their time in EYFS, Year 2 created a beautiful banner which was brought to life by our Comms Team. This was their first full year in school and they worked so hard to create this to show what a great place Carcroft Primary is. It shows they Worked Hard, to Get Smart and most importantly Be Kind to one another. The children collaboratively designed the banner and with the help of our wonderful families kindly donating to help us print it, creating a lasting legacy for all to see. I wonder if you can spot it on the way into school in the morning 🙂

Lots of focus this morning in EYFS and KS1

Music – Crew Marsh 15.9.22

Today in music we have continued to look at making beats with our percussion instruments. We started off by working with a partner to create patterns and then repeat them back to one another. We then started to learn our new song ’I Wanna Be In A Band’.

Servants in Crew Marsh

In Crew Marsh as part of our castle learning and to answer ’what lies within the castle walls?’ We learnt about servants and their job role.

We completed the following jobs:

  • collected fire wood
  • cleaned tables
  • served food and drink
  • followed instructions
