Crew Welburn’s Daily Blog 21.4.2021

Wednesday ✅

We have been mathematicians today in Crew Welburn. We have been working hard to use our number lines for subtraction within 20. We had to make sure we counted our jumps carefully to get the correct answer. ➕➖

HOWL Heroes:

Work hard: Darcie 👏

HOWL Score: 2.1 We are going to work on our HOWLs tomorrow after reflecting this afternoon.

Swimming Super Stars! 🏊‍♂️

Today Crew Gerrard and Crew McGloughlin went to one of their favourite sessions of the week. The children have learned lots of new skills to improve this week and we are seeing more and more move up groups.

Our Swimming Super Stars today were:

Alicia for growing in confidence to be able to swim without noodles/floats! 😁 (Crew G)

Jolie for being able to show her group fantastic swimming techniques! 😃 (Crew G)

Lucia for being a superstar at her first swimming lesson! 😄 (Crew Mc)

Lila for moving up a group in swimming! 😀

Well done guys! We can’t wait for next week! 😆

Crew Gerrard (21/4/21)

Wednesday is fast becoming Crew Gerrard’s favourite day! We started off with a fun swimming lesson, then when we arrived back at school, we worked hard on finishing our first paragraph. During maths, we were re-capping knowledge on decimals and are becoming much more confident with our knowledge and terminology. Our HoWL heroes today are 3 fantastic role models for Crew Gerrard:

Work Hard: Emily for being really focused on her decimal learning! 😁

Get Smart: Amelia for always making sure her work is beautiful and something to be proud of! 😃

Be Kind: Jolie for being someone who is always kind and considerate to others.

Our HoWL average dropped to 2.9! We have come up with ideas to be able to make sure our day is better tomorrow! 😆

Crew Shields – 21/4/21

Wonderful Wednesday! The children have really enjoyed PE this afternoon as they had an opportunity to develop their jumping skills and to demonstrate Sportsmanship. The children tried to be positive, encouraging and respect their Crew while completing their challenges. Working with a range of other peer members has allowed them to develop their crew skills and working together.

Crew Shields Average : 3.3

Targets for this week : 3.4

How can we improve?

To further improve, Crew Shields need to ensure they are responding to feedback without being prompted to do so.

Crew Shields Work Hard Howl Hero – Ava

Ava has had an extremely positive attitude to learning today and has worked hard in all areas of her listening. She has tried to increase her pace and has worked on her listening skills.

Sportsmanship in PE lessons

Starting this week, as a school we are beginning to look at sportsmanship. The children in their crew sessions are going to learn what sportsmanship is, what sportsmanship looks like, how we can change our mindsets about winning and losing and build on crew strengths.

What is sportsmanship? Sportsmanship is fair and generous behaviour or treatment of others, especially in sporting contests.

What are the 5 characteristics of a good sportsperson?

  • Have a positive attitude at all times during sports play
  • Give their best effort
  • Encourages and support their crew mates
  • Accept calls given by referees or coaches
  • Treat the opposition team with respect

The sessions have got off to a great start and the children have really thought about how they can show sportsmanship in their PE lessons. Look out for your children coming home with a Kixx sporstmanship certificate …

Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 20.4.2021

Another fantastic day in Crew Wilson!

Highlight of the day:

We have had a very busy day today and have squeezed lots of learning in. Our Crew highlight of the day was making it to the end of our Write Stuff lesson after writing six chunks! Our brains were exhausted by the end of the lesson but we were so proud of how much we achieved. Tomorrow we will work on completing our writing even faster than today, watch this space!

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: This goes to Stevie today for getting cracked on with her learning and exceeding her own expectations! Stevie missed our first Wizard of Oz writing lesson yesterday but didn’t let that stop her from completing her sentences today, keep it up Stevie!

Get Smart: This goes to Brandon for independently sounding out adjectives for his writing about the Tin Man today. Brandon is still relatively new to our crew but is proving how big his brain is getting by showing off his newly acquired phonics skills, well done Brandon!

Be Kind: This goes to April. April never needs reminders for being kind to both her teachers and her crew, and will always go out of her way to help others and find jobs to do, great stuff April.

Howl Average: 3.1 – a decent score – we still require some improvement from the Crew for listening skills but a better day in terms of attitude to learning, lets keep it up!

Crew Gerrard Blog (20/4/21)

We have had a whirlwind day today, in Crew Gerrard! We started off this morning discussing what sportsmanship is, during Crew. Then we headed into working on our decimals. After break, we then completed some reading around See you in the Cosmos. Before we knew it, we were then on with writing, Gravity. Our HoWL Heroes today were:

Work Hard: Kai for showing an improved attitude and determination to his work! 😁

Get Smart: Tyler for producing some fantastic writing (independently)! 😃

Be Kind: Alicia for helping keep her classroom tidy and being a fantastic role model to her Crew! 😄

Our HoWL average was 3.1 today! I wonder if we can show more resilience during our writing? 😆

Daily Blog Crew Godley 19.04.2021

Magnificent Monday!

Today we launched our new expedition; Who lives on Old McDonald’s farm? This meant we had some very exciting visitors in school!

Farmer Ian very kindly brought us lots of animals for to see! We met Fred the tortoise 🐢, Jessica the goat 🐐, Quack and Quackers the ducks 🦆, Meg the dog 🐕 and even Marshmallow who is an alpaca 🦙 as well as sheep, rabbits and guineapigs!

Farmer Ian taught us all about where the animals live and what they like to eat! We then got to brush the donkey and pony as well as play with Meg! She was very clever and knew lots of tricks!

Fred the tortoise was a big hit with the children. Farmer Ian let him have a walk on our field and we had to keep finding him in the long grass, can you spot him?

Make sure you keep your eyes 👀 peeled at the end of the week for This Week in the Phase to see even more of our very exciting day!

Today’s HOWL hero’s were:

Getting Smart: SJ

Working Hard: Teddy

Being Kind: Roseanne

Well done everyone ❤️ Our HoWL average was 3.1! Great start to the term Crew Godley 🙂
