Praise for our community 🌟

Final post for tonight. I’d just like to praise the following before we finish for today…

🌟I want to praise the amazing work of the CPS staff team today. They have worked so hard to identify pupils that are eligible for a place in school and have worked with parents to ensure that this is communicated quickly.
🌟I want to praise support staff for embracing the world of technology we now live in and getting devices ready for children to loan for the next 6 weeks.
🌟Staff have embraced the challenge of another last minute change and although some have some anxieties regarding their own health during this time, have ensured that that they put these aside and put the children at the forefront of all they do 🙌
🌟Finally I want to praise you at home for your patience in bearing with us today whilst we got our provision turned around after the late announcement last night. Also for persevering with some of the technical glitches this morning… we know it can be frustrating but really do appreciate your patience

Feeling proud 🤩

Thank you all 🙏🏻

Lockdown 2- Learning Provision January 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please find attached a letter which outlines the details for our learning offer over the next 6 weeks (until half term).

This letter provides details for parents whose children are attending in-school provision and those accessing remote learning provision.

All children will continue to access the same lessons, whether they are in school or are at home. The vast majority of children will be with their current crew leader too. Unlike lockdown 1, the Government have made it very clear that all children at home should be accessing learning and we want to ensure that we fulfil this commitment to the best of our ability. Therefore, we will be offering ‘live’ lessons for pupils at home, so there is less pressure placed on parents/carers in comparison to lockdown 1.

Live learning will commence for pupils in Year 1- 6 from tomorrow, or whenever you manage to get your device. Foundation Stage will hopefully start this next week, we will be in touch regarding devices.

We still have some devices waiting for pupils to collect here at school. Please can you come and collect in the morning from around 8am. Just ring the school office when you are here and we will bring the pack out.

Please let us know if you have any questions or queries after reading the letter, we are here to help.

I am sure that we will have some hurdles to overcome, but like last time, I am sure we will come together in an amazing way and once again get through this strange and rather difficult time.

Regards,

Miss Laing

Remote Learning for Tuesday 5th January 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

Firstly, I would like to thank you for your kind words and support regarding the current situation. Like you, school leaders and staff were only informed of school closures by Boris Johnson at 8pm last night.

In order to organise school places for all our children of critical workers and vulnerable pupils, and to have live online learning up and running from Wednesday 6th January, staff will be spending today calling families to ensure each and every child eligible for a place in school is offered the opportunity to attend and delivering laptops to those children who will be learning from home who do not have access to an appropriate device.

Today, work will be uploaded to Google Classroom which all children can complete at home without direct support from their class teacher. All children have logged in to Google Classroom in school and should be familiar with how to access the learning set. For those who are unsure or who are having difficulties, we have created a ‘How To Guide’ which you can follow by clicking the link at the bottom of this message.

Your child’s username and password for Google Classroom will be sent to you via Class Dojo this morning. If you do not have access to Dojo, your child’s Crew Leader will contact you by telephone to provide their log-in details.

Last night, an online form for critical workers to complete to request a place for their child/children was sent to parents via ParentPay, Facebook and the school website. This survey must be completed by 11am today so that we can organise in-school bubbles and confirm places allocated to children this afternoon.

A letter will be sent later today via ParentPay, Facebook and the school website confirming plans for in-school and online learning moving forward and families of children who will be attending school will be contacted. We will ensure this is done as soon as practically possible.

Finally, I would like to thank you again for your ongoing support. During the last national lockdown in March, our community came together and proved just how special a place Carcroft is. We are confident that we can do the same over the coming weeks.

Kind regards,

School Closure January 2021

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement we have been notified by Doncaster Council that we now have to move to remote learning immediately.

We will be in contact tomorrow morning with details of the remote learning provision for Tuesday 5th January (this may be mid morning as Teachers may need to adapt plans before uploading learning).

We will soon outline the booking system for critical key worker children as required by the Department for Education.

School will make contact with parents of pupils deemed to be vulnerable who are also eligible for a place within school during the lockdown period. These will take place during the day tomorrow.

We will send further details out in order to confirm final lists for critical/vulnerable school places later on Tuesday 5th, ready to commence on Wednesday 6th January.

We will also then send out a revised longer term plan for remote learning which will take place for those pupils not in school from Wednesday 6th January.

Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding during these difficult times.

CPS closed to pupils on Monday 4th January 2021

Dear all,

Please find a letter attached from our Director of Education for Doncaster and Public Health England.

As a result, Carcroft will be closed to pupils on Monday 4th January and will reopen to all year groups on Tuesday 5th January at the agreed times adhered to prior to the Christmas break.

We are keen to ensure that our staff feel as safe as they can returning to work following the break and will ensure that tomorrow we review our risk assessment in order to ensure that we do everything in which we can in order to ensure that school is as safe as we can possibly make it for our families returning on Tuesday. We can’t wait to have the children back with us.

There will be no online learning set tomorrow, however, if you would like to set your chid some homework, please could we ask that they practise some quick Maths skills including their timestables recall and basic skills such as mental addition and subtraction (doing this in their head nice and quickly).

We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday morning,

Miss Laing

Happy Christmas to everyone in our CPS Crew

Yesterday was such a fun day! The children had their party clothes on and all had a fantastic day playing games dancing and having lots of treats!!

The staff also enjoyed an afternoon of a chippy lunch provided by Mr Petru, from Skellow Road Chip Shop, it was a delicious treat for all of our hard working Crew! Very much appreciated Mr Petru 😁

Some of the Crew enjoyed making wreaths in hall to put up at home. Check out Shindig Event Styling on Instagram or on the link below. A huge thank you to Cristel for showing us what to do and being patient with us for being so slow! www.christmasshindig.co.uk

Don’t forget to keep in touch about any Covid related news. Email [email protected] if you need to report or inform us of a positive case.

We hope you all have a lovely Christmas and New Year

Whats is the most valuable gift you can give?

Above All Compassion – What is the most valuable gift you can give?

Across the Autumn term, children in Years 3 and 4 from Carcroft Primary School began working on their XP style learning expedition entitled ‘What is the most valuable gift you can give?’.

Crews started off with a Christmas dinner in school with presents to start the children thinking about why we give presents and why. A range of presents were used to present each child with the opportunity to think about how they feel when they receive something that’s different to their peers. From here crews moved to look at how often, the act of giving doesn’t need to cost us anything. Using pumpkins, we showed that we often carve pumpkins for one night but do we really think about what we do with the insides.

From here, we started to look at who William Booth was and how he followed his religious beliefs to start to provide assistance to his community. His gift was soup, soap and salvation and so we have explored what this meant to people at the time as well as how it is still a valuable gift in today’s society. This naturally led us to the origins and work of the Salvation Army which provided us with the opportunity to link back to our pumpkins and how ‘waste’ can actually be valuable to others less fortunate than ourselves. This is especially true when we consider the current circumstances surrounding Covid restrictions and how lives have changed for a great number in our society.

The crews across school truly embraced the tradition of the Salvation army in order to collect food to aid the local food banks helping families less fortunate than others.

This linked well into looking at the Sikh beliefs and what they teach us about wealth and poverty. We focused on how selfless Sikhs are and ways that they support those people who need it. Sikhs give to charities, provide food for communities, raise money, volunteer and much more. All gifts that we can consider. We looked in particular at the ‘Langar’ and how Sikhs have created this to support those that need it (hungry, safe place, warmth, community feel, someone to talk to when lonely etc.).

After looking at the Sikh religion, we then compared this to the Christian story of the Three Wise Men and how they each gave a gift to the baby Jesus with what they felt was the most valuable gift they could offer….

After considering how we can help those less fortunate, we encouraged the children to think how they view the world and this was the foundation to creating stained glass to use as artwork for cards and as a design for a Christmas decoration to donate to the residents of China Cottage Care Home.

Each child across the Key Stage designed and made a stained glass effect Christmas decoration as a gift for others. The children were so proud to be able to provide a gift for others and truly embraced the Christmas spirit.
