See what the XP Trust have been up to this week. As always, itâs a pleasure to see our fab CPS pupils featured in the montage.
Chip Shop Lunches
As we are unable to take the kids to Cleethorpes like we originally planned, next week we’re treating them to a chip shop lunch (see days per year group below), they have already chosen what they would and the order has been placed. There will be no charge for this. If your child has packed lunch you do not need to send them with one.

Announcement
Dear Parents and Carers,
As you are all aware Miss Laing will be taking maternity leave from her role as Headteacher at Carcroft School. In her absence I will become the Acting Heateacher for the School, combining the role with my role as Executive Principal for the XP Trust.
For those of you who don’t know me, let me introduce myself. I am Neil Butler and this will be my fourth Headship. I have been a Head for over 15 years, leading schools in Hessle, Thorne and Intake. My teaching career also began at Askern Spa Junior School. As some may know my role within the XP Trust is to lead all the Headteachers and Principles in their roles in their schools.
Next year will be an exciting one; finally officially joining the Trust and developing further the great work on Crew, Expedition and Beautiful Work. I have been really impressed this year with the improvement in the childrenâs behaviours and attitudes to learning. The teachers have done a great job developing the habits of work and learning. Children really do work hard, get smart and are kind.
Next year we hope to welcome you back into school, to see your childrenâs great work and share their learning journeys. We have all been really frustrated with the governmentâs covid restrictions, although we totally understand why and support the measures, schools aren’t the same without positive parental interactions.
I will write again nearer the end of term to share our plans for the new academic year.
I hope your children enjoy the activities that the staff have planned for the children over the coming month.
Thanks for your continued support
Neil Butler
Welcome to the World

Sports Day
Dear Parents and Carers,
There have been a number of parents enquiring about sports day and the decision made by the school to close this event to spectators. We absolutely understand that not opening the day up to parents isn’t what you want to hear, however our main aim is to ensure the children have the best possible day and that our community is kept safe. The decision was made based on Government restrictions (no more than 30 people meeting outdoors socially) and our belief that managing this event and keeping everyone safe would be extremely difficult if spectators were able to attend. If a positive case were confirmed amongst our spectators, we would be required to inform everyone who attended to isolate, which would be a difficult and time consuming task. There have been references made about parents being allowed on school grounds when picking children up and that they are gathering in groups. As a school, we are encouraging everyone to socially distance whilst on school grounds and expect that parents should be on the school grounds for no longer than 15 minutes when dropping off or collecting children. If parents were to attend sports day, they would be gathering for over two hours and as there would be over 30 spectators, we would be breaking Government restrictions. We were unable to hold a sports day for the children last year due to lockdown and therefore this year, we want to make sure that the children experience this and have a great day. We will be taking lots of videos and pictures that will be shared with parents during and after the event, to ensure we capture the day for you.
We know this isn’t ideal and hope that you understand why we have made this decision. Hopefully next year things will have resumed and we will welcome you into school as we have done before.
Thanks CS Crew
Final word presentations – y6 parents
Dear Parents/carers,
During the next few weeks, our Year 6 children are preparing for their âFinal Wordâ presentation. This is a reflection on their primary school years whereby they reflect on their character growth, academic success and the beautiful work that they have produced during their time at Carcroft School. This is also a time to use their reflections to share why they are ready to take on their new challenge at their secondary school.
During their presentations, we would like to invite you to attend their Final Word along with their crew lead and a teacher of their choice. If you would like to attend, please fill out the form below by Friday 18th June so that staff can align times and dates for the year 6 pupils presentations.
Summer Term Plans
Following on from Boris’ announcement on Monday, we’ve made some alterations to our summer plans.
Cleethorpes
The trip will no longer go ahead, however we will be organising for our children to have fish and chips from the chip shop at the end of June.
Sports Day
Sports day will go ahead on Tuesday 29th June for F2, KS1 and KS2 and Wednesday 30th June F1, however unfortunately parents will not be able to attend. We will make sure we have plenty of photos and videos to share with you.
Summer Fayre
We won’t be able to hold our usual summer fayre so instead we’re going to have CS fun day, with bouncy castles, games, and treats. As we’ve had so many donations for the tombola and raffle we will still sell raffle tickets which we’ll send home with children if you want to buy any.
Flamingo Land – Year 1 & 2
This trip will go ahead as planned on Tuesday 13th July.
Year 6 Prom
This will go ahead as planned on Wednesday 14th July.
End of year parent picnic
Friday 16th July – We will still have non uniform day for children and have a picnic, however unfortunately parents will not be able to attend.
