Crew Kent Blog 1.3.21

Today, we could’ve given everyone HOWL hero… but the lucky 3 were:

Work hard: Sophia – for great effort in improving her writing.

Get smart: Chloe –  for working independently on her math’s.

Be kind: Grace – for assisting the teachers.

🤩 We are super proud to say that our HOWL average today is 3.0! We’ve worked super hard to achieve this and we’re really now thinking about what each HOWL really means.

Daily Blog Crew Godley 25.02.2021

What a whirlwind of a week it has been!

Today’s highlight:

Today in writing we were developing our beautiful work, we thought carefully about how we could make our work beautiful when writing. Shania exclaimed that she wanted to create beautiful work so ‘I can get a good job when I am bigger’. I love that our children are taking pride in everything they do.

I’m sure of you ask the children they will be able to tell you what makes their writing beautiful – some of us are even using capital letters! We tried really hard  to ensure we used finger spaces, our letters were all the same size, we wrote the sounds we could hear and added a full stop to out sentences. I was blown away by some of the writing produced.

Today’s HoWL hero was……

Getting Smart – Kyla. Kyla worked so hard when practising her letter formation. She started in the right place and took her time to ensure she wrote her letters the right way round. Well done Kyla!

Crew Wilson Daily Blog : 25.2.21

Another whirlwind day in Crew Wilson today, where has the time gone?

Highlight of the day:

Our highlight is this afternoon’s expedition lesson where we consolidated our knowledge of castles onto a timeline. We had to identify features of the castle and explain why changes were made. We had some fantastic discussions and the Crew have really taken on board what they have been taught, well done everyone!

Howl Heroes:

🟥Work Hard: This goes to Toby for his brilliant writing about the King for his non-chronological report, well done!

🟦Get Smart: April for consistently showing green standard and listening carefully to instructions, great work!

🟩Be Kind: Tia for keeping her group on task in writing today, well done!

Howl Average:

2.9 – we’ve ended the week on a lower score than we started with, so unfortunately we won’t get a spin on the reward wheel this week, but we have been very reflective with our scores today and know that as a Crew we all need to be listening carefully to teachers instructions so that we can work hard and produce beautiful work. We will be continuing to work on this next week, and hopefully our scores will reflect an improved commitment from the whole Crew.

Crew Elmer Daily Blog 25.02.21

Thrilling Thursday! 🤩

We have finally made it to the end of our first week back! 👏 Lots of children are very pleased about this as it has been a long and tiring week for some after a relaxed week off last week!

Star moment of the day:

Today’s star moment has got to be our ‘Write Stuff’ lesson. I was blown away with how well the children were able to identify a range of key features of a playscript. Children annotated their own copy of a playscript really well, using clear labels and a range of colours. The presentation was amazing! I was further impressed when we did ‘popcorn’ and all crew members could list at least one feature of a playscript as well as some children being able to explain the purpose of the listed feature.

Todays HoWL average is: 2.9

Yay! We have finally got our score back up! This is down to lots of children working really hard in Crew Elmer today! I am also pleased that we have managed to achieve this score despite several crew members still being absent, so well done Crew Elmer!

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this next week?

Crew Elmer need to make sure that they all attend school next week or that they access the remote learning being offered so that we can avoid those 1’s. Crew members also need to ensure that they are trying their best to achieve 3’s (minimum expectation) for their HoWLs.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today’s HoWL Hero was Rowen! Rowen was praised by several crew members for his hard work in reading today and for his confidence in reading aloud in front of the whole class. Rowen also did incredibly well on his Salford Reading Test and made massive progress which we are all very proud of! Rowen also earnt the HoWL hero for working really hard when completing his maths work this morning! Well done Rowen! An amazing day for you! 🙌😁⭐👏

Crew Shields and Crew Longley – 25/2/21

The children have been continuing with their Art case study today by sketching a Roman helmet. This really put our resilience to the test as we had to be patient and precise with our drawing. We used a step by step model which allowed all the children an opportunity to produce beautiful learning. We are looking forward to completing our Mosiac art piece next week and I’ve no doubt they will be amazing!

Crew Longley Average:  2.9

Crew Shields Average : 2.7

Targets for this week : 3.2

How can we improve?

To further improve, children need to ensure they are listening carefully to instructions so they can give their learning 100% effort.

Crew Shields Work Hard Howl Hero – Lacey
Lacey blew my socks off in RWI today. She is trying extremely hard to use her fred talk to read but also when she is writing. This is fantastic to see and she should be very proud of herself.

Crew Longley Work Hard Howl Hero – Lydia
In reading, Lydia has been working hard to take on board our focus area each day. She is increasing her WPM score and starting to read with some beautiful expression. I really enjoy hearing her read!

Crew Marsh: 25/02/21

✨Star moment✨

Star moment today was seeing the children annotate a playscript, it was great to see the children use previous knowledge to unpick the different features that you would find in one. I cannot wait to start writing them next week! 😁🙌

Average is: 3.0 – what a nice way to end the week!

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Crew Marsh need to think about how they can be a better crew, at the minute we are quick to upset each other rather than being kind and building each other up…. food for thought. We have done a lot better with this today, let’s keep it up next week!

Howl hero:

Get Smart hero today is Mark!

Mark did fantastic in his rapid read intervention, Miss Smith and I were so impressed with his reading and the confidence he built! 🙌✨😁

Be Kind her is Harper!

Harper has made a real effort today to make sure she was being kind to everyone in her crew. Your kindness really stood out, well done!  👌💕

Crew Gerrard Blog 25.2.21

Be kind: Lucas – for looking out for his crew.

🤩 We are super proud to say that our HOWL average today is 3.1! We’ve worked super hard to achieve this and we’re really now thinking about what each HOWL really means.
