If your child is absent from school for any reason, please can we remind you to ring the school office on 01302 722353 – option 1 and leave a message stating your child’s name, Crew and reason for absence.
This will avoid the Admin staff having to make contact with you and avoid any unneccessary home visits due to your child not attending.
We’ve made it through another lockdown! What an awesome effort to keep going and continuing to work hard, get smart and be kind! Today has been no different. From helping each other when we’re getting stuck, to some wonderful pieces of critique and support within the crew, it’s a great platform to push on for the rest of term, and the year!
Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9
Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.1
I wonder if…
I wonder if we can listen carefully tomorrow to ensure that we’re all working on improving our get smart scores.
Today’s HoWL Hero:
Our Get Smart HoWL Hero today is Melisa!
What a cracking day it’s been for Melisa! Her confidence is really improving and she has blown us all away with her focus and attention to detail. She hasn’t been happy with simply rushing the work and it’s been a great example for us all seeing her asking for help to ensure that she’s achieving her ME! Keep going, Melisa, and I love your storyboard!
Today has been named the ‘best day ever!’ in Crew Elmer! With having all of our members back in class today, getting to indulge in treats and receiving baby news! We have all had a very ‘memorable Monday!’.
Sooo happy to be back as a crew!
Star moment of the day: ⭐
Today there has been far too many ‘star moments’! Here are just a few…. we got to welcome back Ray, Lily-Beth, Esme and Skye into the classroom (whom we have missed so much!), we demonstrated an excellent understanding of area in Maths, we enjoyed some collaborative reading in our new reading groups and last but not least I revealed to the whole crew that I will be expecting another baby in June! 😁👍👨👩👧👦🤰🤱
Todays HoWL average is: 3.4
An amazing HoWL score! I believe that this is down to having ALL crew members in school today as well as children really following their HoWLs and trying to ensure that they got at least a 3. There were a few 2’s but luckily this was evened out by some 4’s. An amazing first day back! Well done Crew!
This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0
How can we develop this tomorrow?
Tomorrow, we need to make sure that we are all focused on our learning and that we maintain a positive attitude towards our learning. That way we can rule out the 2’s and ensure that we get 3’s.
Today’s HoWL Hero:
Today’s HoWL Heroes were Ray, Esme and Lily-Beth! These three survived their first full day back in Crew Elmer today! Miss Hart and I were blown away with how well these children adapted to school life so quickly. They followed the rules to keep us all safe, they completed what was asked of them and worked hard in every lesson that was taught today. Lots of crew members also praised them for just slotting straight back in! A great first day back you three! Well done! I hope that you all enjoyed your treats when you got home! 🙌😁⭐👏
What a wonderful day it was to have our crew reunited after lockdown 3. All the children have worked incredibly hard over the last few months
online and in school. We are super proud of everyone. All the children were rewarded with a certificate and a yummy chocolate bar. I’m sure they will be super kind at home and share it with you.
Highlight of the day:
In maths we used equipment to help us with repeated addition. It was lovely to see the children sharing the equipment and supporting each other with their number sentences. Keep up the hard work year 2!

Yay! We’ve finally got Crew Shields back together, a day that I’ve been looking forward to. We have missed our Crew members very much and it was lovely to see how excited they were to see their friends again. We’ve had an amazing day and the children have worked extremely hard. The children enjoyed our first hook for our new expedition. We got to explore the different types of teeth and their functions.
Crew Shields Average : 3.0

How can we improve?
To further improve, Crew Shields need work on ensuring they listen carefully to instructions so they can complete their learning.
Crew Shields Working Hard Howl Hero – RiRi RiRi has been working extremely hard in all areas of her learning. she is trying to take more care when completing her learning. As a result she is moving her learning forward by meeting the learning targets and I’ve really enjoyed reading her writing over the last few weeks.
I think today is a day that a lot of us have been excited about and possibly nervous about. However, I did not see many nerves from Crew Gerrard today. It has been such a fun day and I am so happy to welcome everyone back. You’ve had a great day catching up with your friends and being part of a Crew again. The highlight was the marshmellow towers that you were creating, with varying degrees of success. Our HoWL Heroes today are:
Work Hard: Ellie May for putting so much effort into being able to understand equivalent fractions 😁
Get Smart: Sapphire for being able to independently solve and explain how to complete equivalent fractions 😃
Be Kind: Jolie – we are very lucky to have such a caring person in our Crew 😄
Our HoLW average was 2.9 today and I wonder if we can show that we are ready to learn quicker tomorrow? 😆
Whilst nursery remained open during school closures, we welcomed a few children back today and are now a full crew again 💕 The children were thrilled to receive their certificates and chocolate bars for being so fantastic throughout these difficult times and working hard. They have certainly kept me smiling 🥰
🌟star moments 🌟
Today we went on a listening walk, practising using our listening ears and focussing on the sounds we could hear outside. We heard cars, birds, wind and Henley even said he heard a bird’s wings flapping 🌟
The children did write dance with Mrs Mason and did great at following the actions to the music. The next part is doing the mark making so watch this space for our beautiful work…
HOW Hero 🦸♂️ – Henley
Huge apologies, I forgot to give this out at home time but well done to Henley for fantastic listening on our listening walk 👂🏼🌟you are getting really smart at being able to identify sounds!
We have had a fantastic return today for all pupils. Starting off the day with working incredibly hard during phonics lessons through to finishing the day celebrating as a crew all our learning achievements. We have worked hard to get smart during expedition learning this afternoon to put together all our finished model pieces of Lincoln castle. We could then see which parts needed improving by praise, notice and wondering our work. We will continue working on our model this week and begin to add texture to the outside features.
Well done crew Y2 the model looks great.
Here are all the children celebrating their learning with a certificate and chocolate bar! Well done everyone, its lovely to see you all back. xxxx
We survived!! It has been so lovely to have our Crew all back in school and to see your smiley faces! We are more determined than ever to follow and excel in our HoWLs and be the best Crew we can be!
We have had a wonderful first day back with our full crew after lockdown 3.0! We are so glad everyone has re-joined us in school and we have worked so hard today on all of our learning! We even got a special certificate and reward for all of our hard work over the last lockdown!
Highlight of the Day:
Our highlight of the day was our writing lesson! There was an accident with Supertato in the classroom and we had to work out who we could ask to help us! We then practiced our medical skills on each other with bandages and discussed the actions that we were doing!
Howl Heroes:
Work Hard: This goes to Perrie for coming back after months of online learning and getting straight back in to her work – she was the first one to finish in every single lesson today, welcome back Perrie!
Get Smart: This goes to April today for consistently displaying green standard across all of our lessons today – keep it up April!
Be Kind: This goes to Debbie-Mae for sharing resources and waiting her turn to speak, well done Debbie-Mae and welcome back!
Howl Average:
3.2 – We have started the week off strongly, a few reminders given for listening ears but those children know they need to work on this, lets aim for 4.0 for the end of the week!
