Crew Shields have completed a Children’s University learning activity today to further explore teeth. They worked in pairs to complete the activities and earn themselves a certificate. I will ensure these are sent home over the next few days. It was lovely to see the children supporting their peers and helping with things like reading and understanding.

Maddie is a member of Crew Shields that can always be relied upon to listen carefully and complete her learning. She tries her best in everything she does and is polite and helpful to her peers.

Another busy day, looking at multiplying and beginning to write our new story ‘The Incredible Book Eating Boy!’ We have had some challenges along the way, but are working hard as a crew to meet these.

We can’t believe what a windy day it has been!

We have really focused on getting smart today! We have been talking about our mummies and special adults we have in our lives ready for mothers day at the weekend. 💐

In reading we talked about this weeks class text ‘There’s an Alien in your Book’ (we really love this one, especially all the fun actions) and drew a house with Mr Jones for the alien to live in while he stays on earth 🌎

We have also been hard at work creating some beautiful gifts for the special ladies in our lives but we can’t show any pictures of these, we don’t want to ruin the surprise! 🌺

Today our HOWL hero is George! George spoke so clearly today, shared lots of lovely ideas and even began to speak in longer sentences by using ‘because’! 🌟

Tiring Thursday! 💤 Today has been another very busy day in Crew Elmer that has left us all feeling very tired! 💤

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Today ‘s star moment has got to be our Expedition lesson this afternoon. I was blown away with how well the children had retained their knowledge about the tooth structure from Monday’s lesson and were able to apply this to create some amazing teeth structures using marshmallows! Today’s HoWL Hero was Ray! Ray was chosen by myself for HoWL hero due to how well he has settled in this week. He has worked incredibly hard in all lessons and has even tried hard in lessons that he hasn’t enjoyed completing showing that he is a good role model to others, maintaining that positive attitude to learning at all times. Excellent work Ray! Well done! 🙌🤩👏👍

Thursday complete after another busy day in Crew Gerrard. We started off today by writing a section for our Expedition blog (keep your eyes peeled 👀). We have also been working hard on equivalent fractions, so that we can become really secure for the next steps. After that we began writing our non-chronological report. This afternoon – the highlight of the day – we looked into how day and night occurs, pretending to be the Earth and the sun. Our HoWL Heroes were:

Work Hard: Evie for thinking carefully about how she could solve equivalent fractions. 😁

Get Smart: Jolie trying hard to improve her listening skills to ensure she was able to learn her best. 😃

Be Kind: Belle for respecting other people’s feelings and being considerate of others. 😄

Our HoWL average was 2.8 – luckily we have tomorrow to be able to improve that score! I wonder if we can all show that we are listening carefully? 😆

Star moment

Star moment today was seeing the children create their teeth in a mouth, the children used marshmallows to create the different teeth and were able to show all of their learning by labelling them. Well done Crew Marsh! Your knowledge about teeth has really impressed me! 😁

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Crew Marsh’s target is to make sure they are concentrating on their learning and not as much talking, today this seems to have been all day and I have had to constantly remind children about what working hard and getting smart looks like.

Harlie has worked really hard all day today. She always makes sure she applies herself to her learning and listens to all of my instructions.

Highlight of the day: We have continued exploring materials and their properties today in expedition, so we can decide what we will create our final product from. We collaborated brilliantly, and even a surprise visit from Miss Laing didn’t distract us from our learning – well done Crew Wilson!

Today, we have been testing materials to see which material would be the best to make our model castle out of next week. We tested them to see if they were light, strong, easily joined and easy to paint. It was really fun! 🌟
