Crew Boswell – 15/03/21

One of our best Mondays yet!  From experience days thinking about characters and their speech to thinking about how to form an investigation to support our expedition, it’s been a busy day.  The highlight has to be our work on fractions though.  They can be tricky at the best of time but that hasn’t stopped us, we’ve aced it!

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.3

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 2.9

I wonder if…

I wonder if we can really focus on improving our handwriting tomorrow.  We’ve started getting our own next steps so it’s time to act on them now.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Get Smart HoWL Heroes today are Bobby and Tia!

What a great day it’s been for Bobby.  Not only has he been working to green standard in his arithmetic and maths but he blew us all away in our expedition lesson by explaining what a control variable was and how we could use one for our upcoming investigation.

For Tia, it’s been a day of beautiful work and smashing her ME in maths as she hit her green target.  Awesome concentration to achieve this, Tia, but even better determination to achieve as much as you can and this was helped by some great listening!

Such a lovely start to our week!

The highlight of today was all the wonderful time we spent outside enjoying the sunshine! ☀️ We spent our whole afternoon learning outside. The children found bugs, practiced their name recognition and writing skills and built important sharing and cooperative skills that will help us learn.

The best part was enjoying our first afternoon snack outside! We can’t wait to do this lots more in the sunny weather!

Today’s HOWL hero is Charlie-Jade! She is always a kind and happy member of our crew and brings a smile to our faces! 😀

Crew Nicholson 15.3.21

This morning we enjoyed PE with Coach Dylan. We had so much fun pretending to be fish while Coach Dylan was a shark and we had to work hard to listen to instructions so that he didn’t catch us! 🦈 🐟

The sun definitely had his hat on this afternoon ☀️ We enjoyed an afternoon of sunshine and took our learning outside. In between finding worms, we did our name practice and practised writing the letter ‘a’ which is our sound of the week this week! We were getting smart by thinking about what objects we know that begin with an ‘a’ sound.

We enjoyed our first of the year outdoor snack time, it was so lovely to sit in the sunshine together 😍

Crew Shields – 15/3/21

Crew Shields have enjoyed an experience day in writing that has allowed them to generate ideas in preparation for their writing lessons this week. They have created a bank of synoyms for said and started to think about the characters in the story. It was a proud moment to see the children working collaboratively in their mini crews and ensuring everyone had a opportunity to partake.

Crew Shields Average : 3.0

Targets for this week : 3.2

How can we improve?

To further improve, Crew Shields need to ensure that are continuing to develop their independence and not relying on adult before starting a task.

Monday ✅

We’ve been working really hard on our handwriting today in Crew Welburn. We’re trying to make sure that our ascenders (d, t, k, b, l and h) are taller than our other letters, and the our descenders (p, g, f, j, y and q) sit below the line. We have seen some real improvements in some of the handwriting in Crew Welburn. Keep it up! 🌟

HOWL Heroes:

Work hard: Charlie👏

Get smart: Lylah👏

Be kind: Heartley👏

HOWL Score: 3.3 Well done Crew Welburn! Keep it up!

Magnificent Monday!

What a great start to the week we have had in crew. We are trying really hard in our writing lessons and our handwriting is really improving. The children even have a handwriting homework challenge this week. I wonder which children are going to win prizes!

During our writing session this morning the children worked together during a mini experience day. They worked as a crew to “orally” rehearse parts of a story to support their writing further in the week. They enjoyed this and even recorded their speaking parts! Well done everyone, I can truly see your confidence growing, its lovely to see.

Our Howl average today was 2.9

Well done everyone.

YAY! It’s FriYAY! 🙌We were all so happy this morning that it was Friday! This was the first Friday in school for many of our children since… I can’t remember! So today was a struggle for most this morning! However, all crew members have still worked hard and produced some beautiful work! 👍📝👏😁

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Today ‘s star moment has got to be our Hooked on Books reading lesson this morning! I was really blown away with how well the children were able to complete a range of questions independently using the knowledge that they had gained from lessons throughout the week! Amazing work my reading group! Well done! 😁👍

Todays HoWL average is: 3.5

WOW! 😁 What an amazing score to end the week off! Well done Crew Elmer! 👏

Next week’s HoWL target is: 3.4

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Next week, we need to continue to work hard, get smart and be kind!

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today’s HoWL Hero was Hannah-May! Hannah-May often finds it a challenge to keep quiet during lesson time when she should be focused on her learning and this often has a negative impact on the quality of work that she produces. However today she has been amazing! She has been really focused on her learning throughout the day and as a result has produced some great work! Well done Hannah-May! Now lets keep this up! 🙌🤩👏👍
