Crew Elmer Daily Blog 16.03.21

Tiring Tuesday! After today I don’t think we can quite believe that it is only Tuesday in Crew Elmer! We have absolutely worked our socks off today and gone home feeling very tired! 💤 I hope you are all getting an early night so that you feel well rested and fresh to start again tomorrow morning!

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Today ‘s star moment has got to be our maths lesson today! I was blown away with how well children quickly grasped tenths. They were able to order them, add them, find them, shade them in and much more. The majority of the crew also whizzed through the ‘diagnostic 5’ questions and even completed all of the reasoning and problem solving questions! WOW! WOW! WOW! Definitely a highlight of today! Well done Crew for blowing my socks off as Harley would say! 🤣

Todays HoWL average is: 3.3

Another great score Crew Elmer! 🙌👏👍

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.4

How can we develop this tomorrow?

We need to work as a crew to ensure that we are all securing those 3’s as a minimum tomorrow! Lets stick together and get us all there! I know we can do it!

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today’s HoWL Hero was Laila. This girl received the most praises from her crew members today for being super kind at crew playtimes as well as for helping her crew members with their work during lesson times. Her crew members also noticed how hard she had been working throughout every lesson. Miss Hart and I also praised her for just ‘getting on’. Laila was also asked to complete some extra tasks today and again she just ‘got on’ with them and never moaned or complained. She is a very happy and super lovely girl who very much deserves to be HoWL hero today! Well done Laila! 🙌🤩👏👍

Another lovely day working hard!

We are focusing on our names and letter formation this week! The children have been working so hard to recognise and write their names and it is all paying off! Not only do lots of us now recognise our names but some children have also moved on to writing their names without their name card! We are well on our way to creating beautiful work!

We have also been getting smart in phonics! You won’t believe how amazing some of our children are at knowing their first sounds! Keep your eyes peeled for This Week in the Phase/Trust to see our hard work!

Today’s HOWL heroes (we couldn’t choose one) are George and Sophia! My socks were knocked off by their phonics today! Amazing work 👏🏻

What a brilliant Tuesday we have had!

We have had great fun in our expedition session this afternoon, creating outer walls and “bumpy” grounds for our castle model to sit upon. We used the printing technique to create brick prints and paper mache to create our castle grounds. We worked as a crew to ensure our model was securely fastened to the wood base and wouldn’t move or become damaged in transit when it gets delivered to Lincoln Castle itself!

The children loved this messy activity and even the grownups had a go 🙂

Enjoying the mess!

Our Howl point average today was 3.1 Well done for the improvement Crew Ferguson! x

Crew Shields – 16/3/21

Crew Shields have enjoyed preparing and setting up a scientific experiement. Over the next few weeks, children will be exploring the effect that sugar has on our teeth. An egg shell is the closest material to the enamel on our teeth so we have immersed boiled eggs in a range of drinks. We will observe the changes in the next few weeks.

Crew Shields Average : 3.1

Targets for this week : 3.2

How can we improve?

To further improve, Crew Shields need to work on our pace especially in writing.

Crew Shields Work Hard Howl Hero – Esme
Today was Esme’s first day in crew Shields. She has settled quickly and had a positive attitude to this move. We are so glad to have Esme in our Crew.

Star moment

Star moment today was seeing the children play a hockey game using the skills that they have learnt. It was great to see how they all played as a crew and made sure that they cheered each other on if needed. Coach also said that our sportsmanship had improved since September. This is a real positive Crew Marsh, Well done! 👍👍

Average is: 2.7 – This has dropped today because there has been so much chatting in the crew today!

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Crew Marsh’s target for tomorrow is to make sure that they are putting their hands up if they need something, we are starting to get out of our seats again far too much. Make sure tomorrow… hands up!

Howl hero:

Get Smart hero today is Lottie!

Lottie has made sure all of her learning has been incredibly neat today. She has also made sure that she has concentrated on her learning and got smart today. Well done Lottie! 😁😁👏

Tuesday✅

What a terrific Tuesday! We have all really enjoyed writing and maths in Crew Welburn today. In maths, we were exploring adding two numbers together and showing this using a tens frame and the practical resources. We then got really smart by applying this onto our sheet independently! In writing, we were practicing producing beautiful work that we are proud of as we wrote up our letters ready to send to Zog!🌟

HOWL Heroes:

Work hard: Charlie 👏

Get smart: Heartley 👏

Be kind: Frankie 👏

HOWL Score: 3.0 Well done Crew Welburn! Keep it up!

Happy Monday! 😁 Today has been a fantastic start to the week for Crew Elmer! 👍

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Today ‘s star moment has got to be our ‘Write Stuff’ lesson. Today was an ‘Experience Day’ which involved us all partaking in a number of activities ready for our writing lessons this week. We enjoyed completing ‘role on the wall’, punctuating speech, listing and acting out different speech verbs and predicting alternative endings through drawings. It was a very productive lesson with us all achieving Gold Standard and I am sure it will be very beneficial for our writing lessons this week! 😁👍

Todays HoWL average is: 3.3

A great score to start the week! Well done Crew Elmer! 🙌👏👍

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.4

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Keep up the great work so that we can secure those 3’s and 4’s! A few of us also need to make sure that we are being ‘positive’ at all times.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today’s HoWL Hero was Harry! Harry was praised by several crew members for being kind and helping others with their work today. He was also praised for being kind at crew playtimes and for working hard in all lessons especially Expedition this afternoon. For this reason I couldn’t not choose Harry for HoWL Hero today! For working hard, getting smart and being kind you are our well-deserved HoWL Hero today Harry! Well done! 🙌🤩👏👍
