Today the children have shown real resilience as they were given a challenge of creating a drawbridge for our Lincoln castle model. It was the only part which was missing! After learning all about pulleys, wheels and axels they worked in mini crews to explore the equipment needed. They then followed instructions to ensure the drawbridge could be lifted and lowered using a pully system. All the crew truly impressed the staff. They did not give up trying to succeed. Each drawbridge created not only showed the children had listened carefully to instructions given, they showed how hard the children had worked to get smart. Take a look at our creations!
Today has been a lovely day in Crew Elmer! We have been very busy of course but the children have been amazing and worked really hard to produce some beautiful work!
Star moment of the day: ⭐
Today ‘s star moment has got to be spending some time with Mr Hull this afternoon to discuss planting some new trees on the school ground. The children learnt the names of the different trees that we have available to plant as well as the purpose of trees for our school environment. The children have now been set some questions to investigate such as:
How tall will each tree grow?
How much space does each tree need to grow?
Who are the Woodland Trust?
Todays HoWL average is: 3.6

Today’s HoWL Hero was Harley! Harley was chosen by Miss Hart and I. I chose Harley for his hard work in Hooked on Books this morning. Harley was incredibly focused on his learning and this allowed him to get super smart! Miss Hart praised Harley for his stamina this afternoon whilst completing some assessments on the Ipad; he never gave up! A great day Harley! Well done! 🙌🤩👏👍
Highlight of the day: We have had a marvellous maths lesson today exploring number bonds! The Crew had think about lots of different ways to make the numbers and write them in number sentences – they collaborated so well together, great work!

We started our day with Dough Disco, the children focused so hard on developing their fine motor skills. This will really help us with our handwriting and mark making.
We started to explore the number 3 in our maths groups and started our new story in Write Dance! Our busy day of learning was finished off with an afternoon in the sunshine which is our favourite!
Today’s HOWL hero is Lacey. She tried so hard with her name writing ✍🏻 as one of our littlest learners this is amazing to see!
What a wonderful Wednesday we’ve had in Crew Welburn! We finally got to post our letters to Zog and the Flying Doctors and we started to design our castle by thinking about the scale of each aspect.🌟

Star moment today was seeing the children be scientific when setting up our science experiment. Over the last few weeks we have been learning about what teeth we have in our mouth. Our experiment is going to look at tooth decay and how different liquids can cause this. I cannot wait to see the results every week.

How can we develop this tomorrow?
Crew Marsh’s target for tomorrow is to make sure that they are putting their hands up if they need something, we are starting to get out of our seats again far too much. Make sure tomorrow… hands up!
Crew have had an enjoyable afternoon while continuing their skills in hockey. We have been refining our passing, dribbling and shooting skills to ensure we were successful when they played a match. We have had a big focus on being kind to each other and this is especially important during PE lessons. Coach Shelly was very impressed with how well they conducted themselves.
Crew Shields Average : 3.0

How can we improve?
To further improve, Crew Shields need to work on our pace especially in writing.
Crew Shields Work Hard Howl Hero – Jack Jack has done a great job in PE today. He doesn’t always find it easy but was chosen as the sports person due to his resilience and sportsmanship with the rest of the crew.
We have had another whirlwind day in Crew Gerrard. A highlight of today was our determination to make sure that we improved our writing. We tried our best to make our handwriting look like something that we are proud of. Our HoWL heroes for today are:
Work Hard: Hassan, you really gave it your all to produce a factual non-chronological report and produce his best handwriting 😁
Get Smart: Zane for thinking about your handwriting and making it clearer 😃
Be Kind: Brayden for helping to cheer me up after a tough couple of days 😄
Our HoWL average today was 3.1. I wonder if tomorrow we can listen carefully and show better listening skills? 😆
Today, we have been discussing our presentation and handwriting in our Get Smart crew! Over the next few weeks, we will be really focusing on how we can craft beautiful work.
