Crew Boswell – 12/04/21

Our day in a nutshell…

We’ve had a busy first day back today and thrown ourselves into our work on the Wizard of Oz.  The experience day for the Write Stuff was a highlight with some great work on the characters and thinking about how to describe them and some of their motivations.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.6

Our Weekly HoWL target is 2.9

I wonder if…

I wonder if we can all achieve a 4 for one of our HoWLs at the end of the day tomorrow and to support each other in our crew.

Today’s HoWL Hero

Our Work Hard HoWL Hero today is Ethan!

Ethan has had a great day today and this has been noticed by everyone in the crew.  It would be hard to single out one aspect of the day that Ethan has modelled brilliantly for us so I’ll go with what I’ve loved the most about Ethan’s day.  He hasn’t stopped smiling!  This clear positive attitude really showed us all how easy it can be to work hard.  Great work, Ethan!

Crew Gerrard (12/4/21)

Welcome back Crew Gerrard, it has certainly been great to see you all again!

We’ve had a really productive first day back and tried our best to ensure that we’re back into a routine nice and quickly. We’ve been looking into reading The Wizard of Oz and have started our exciting writing about the film Gravity. I know that we had some great discussions, which was a highlight today. I’m really pleased with how well we picked up multiplying whole numbers by unit fractions, as well – you were super stars! Our HoWL Heroes for today are:

Work Hard: Evie for showing such a fantastic attitude to her maths and listening well all day – well done, Evie! 😁

Get Smart: Chloe for being a whizz at the maths and for really challenging her learning – keep it up, Chloe! 😃

Be Kind: Kian for listening and being in such a great mood all day, you’ve had a fantastic day – good job, Kian! 😄

Our HoWL average was 3.2 today, so it was a good start. I wonder if we can ensure that we are all quicker to listen and with our readiness, tomorrow?

Crew Shields – 12/4/21

It has been amazing seeing the smiling faces of Crew Shields back in school. I know that the children will be glad of the routine and structure that school provides as much as I do. We have eased ourselves back in gently today in Maths and Writing. The children demonstrated worked collaboratively to complete some learning tasks. I was very impressed with how much they have retained from fractions and understanding equal parts. Some children started making links between fractions and division. Amazing!

Crew Shields Average : 2.9

Targets for this week : 3.2

How can we improve?

To further improve, Crew Shields need to ensure that they always demonstrating active listening so they know what they need to do.

Crew Shields Work Hard Howl Hero – Lacey
Lacey blew me away today with how much she has retained in RWI and also with her reading of common exception words. This was very impressive. Well done Lacey.

Crew Elmer Daily Blog 12.04.21

Welcome Back! 🖐 What a lovely first day back it has been in Crew Elmer!

Star moment of the day: ⭐

Today’s ‘star moment’ has to be our art work this afternoon. I was blown away with how hard the children tried with their designs. They used some really great patterns and thought about the different colours that complimented each other. Great work Crew Elmer!

Todays HoWL average is: 2.9

A great HoWL score for our first day back especially as we had a couple of absences! Fingers crossed we can get this to a 3.0 tomorrow! 🤞

This week’s HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

We need to make sure that all crew members are at school tomorrow and that we remember to try our best at working hard, getting smart and being kind.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Today’s HoWL Hero was Lacey-Niia! Lacey-Niia was chosen by myself and the rest of her crew for ‘working hard’ ALL day! From the moment Lacey-Niia entered the classroom this morning she was focused and on task. She has had an amazing day and achieved ‘Gold Standard’ in every lesson. I have honestly been blown away! Great work today Lacey-Niia! We are all very proud of you! 🙌🤩👏👍

The sun has been shining down on us for our first day back after Easter, and what a brilliant day we have had!

Crew Ferguson Daily Blog 12.4.21

Today has been a very manic Monday! We have welcomed all children back after not only half term but isolation as well. The children have worked extremely hard and have been a real credit to the school today.

They have reset their crew expectations and have spoken about how we can all work together to improve our daily HOWL score. We discussed working hard and getting smart during this last term within year 2!

Well done everyone. Bring on the half term and the great learning we are going to be experiencing.

HOWL Score: 2.9 We’ll try to work hard tomorrow.

Start and Finish Times- From Monday 12th April 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you are all having a lovely break with the children. I am just starting to plan for our return from Monday next week.

When we return after Easter we are going to trial the following times for start and finish:

Monday to Thursday:

Start: Children to arrive in a ‘trickle fashion’ between 8.25 and 8.35. Doors will close just after 8.35. Please ensure that your child is on time. We had a number of pupils arriving late and it adds pressure to the admin team.

Finish: Doors will open from 3.00 and again, children to be collected in a ‘trickle fashion’ between 3.00 and 3.10. Children should be collected by 3.10.

Friday:

Start: As above

Finish: Doors will be open at 12.45 and children to be collected between 12.45 and 1.00pm.
Childcare for working parents will continue to run until 2pm for those parents who have signed up for this.

Unfortunately, the only way for us to cover Teaching Staff planning time is by finishing slightly earlier on a Friday. In terms of cover, our staff team will be used to cover in another class if it really is needed. Due to having 15 staff out at the same time, we just don’t have enough staff to cover without moving staff about. We hope you understand the decision to continue with this for the next half term.

Please may we remind parents that in order to reduce the volume of traffic on site at any time, parents should arrive during the times outlined above and should not use the playground to wait for long periods of time. This was done really well before Easter- thank you for this.

Finally, may we remind parents that when dropping off/picking up, parents should come unaccompanied (you can bring younger siblings though). But we want to continue to avoid having large groups of adults on our site and finally, please remember to wear your face covering unless your are exempt.

See you all on Monday,

Miss Laing

Testing for Families…

Please see post below regarding testing for families with school age pupils if they wish. This is not compulsory but is on offer for families who wish to utilise the service.

This is not something that is going to be managed by school, therefore, please may we ask that you only contact school about this if you cannot access the guidance required elsewhere.

Thanks,

Miss Laing
