Crew Flaherty 28.9.20

A marvellous Monday in Crew Flaherty today.

Highlights of the day:

Watching the children listening carefully to each during Crew this morning and showing each other support during lessons. The quiet, calm reminders you have given each other to meet the minimum expected standard has been lovely to see. You are being Crew.

Working hard in maths to compare numbers up to 100. You used the greater than and less than symbols confidently and you used the base 10 equipment sensibly to deepen your understanding. I am very impressed Crew Flaherty.

In book talk, we summarised our class text ‘The Wonder’ by Faye Hanson and you were able to confidently discuss how the boy might have felt when he had to show his teacher his art work.

HOWLs

HOWL average for the day is 3.8. Crew Flaherty you have made me proud today. What an incredible score.

I wonder if tomorrow, we can listen carefully to adults for the whole day especially in the afternoon.

HOWL heroes

Work Hard

Billy – for not only working hard in lessons but for writing a wonderful recount for his homework. It was lovely to read your work aloud in Crew this morning.

Get Smart

Jenson – for listening carefully and persevering when a challenge arises to produce beautiful work.

Be Kind

Raza – for being kind to his peers and using his manners.

I wonder who will be our HOWL heroes tomorrow

Crew Elmer Daily Blog 28.09.20

Magic Monday! 💥

Star moment of the day:

Today I was really blown away with the children’s ‘kindness’ in our Expedition lesson today. We were looking at Carcroft Primary School community and the people within it that help us. The children’s praises for the people that help them in different ways in school were lovely to hear. Such as ‘I praise and I am proud of Mr Hull because he keeps school a safe place, he locks all the doors and windows and fixes things when they are broken’, ‘I praise and I am proud of the cleaners because they keep everywhere in school clean and keep the cleaning stuff in the cupboard away from us as the liquids are harmful’, ‘I praise and I am proud of the people in the office as they give us lots of equipment when we need it, they sort the registers and they keep us safe by seeing who is coming into school’. We had lots of great sentences linked to safety. It was lovely to hear how much the children appreciate everyone in school and what they do for us all. Well done Crew Elmer! 👏

Today’s HoWL average is: 3.0

This is a great score for a Monday when we are all very tired and when we have some children missing from our class today. Well done Crew! 👍

This week’s HoWL target is: 2.9

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Elmer need to make sure that we are ‘being kind’ at all times, especially in the afternoons when we are a little more tired and irritable.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Crew Elmer nominated Frankie for being our class ‘kind’ hero 🥇. Frankie is always kind to others and today has shown just how patient, understanding and helpful she can be by supporting others with their learning. Several children nominated her today and I can see why! Not only are you kind but you make sure that we are all safe! Excellent work Frankie! Well done! 👏

Crew Longley – 28.09.2020

Star moment of the day:

Another great day in Crew Longley. Miss Holdsworth has chosen the star moment of the day. Miss Holdsworth was blown away by the power of Crew and how a member of our crew was honest enough to admit making a mistake and saying sorry. This really is a proud moment and shows how far we have come in Crew to build such honesty.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.7

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 2.7

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow, Crew Longley need to continue ensuring that we show a positive attitude towards trickier elements of our learning

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Be Kind hero today is Layton!

Layton has really tried hard today. We are loving his new learning attitude and I am sure he will continue to blow our socks off!

Crew Boswell – 28.09.20

Good evening,

Star moment of the day:

After a busy weekend and an unusual one for one of our crew in particular (they were attacked by a crocodile!), we have had a good day of learning today.  We think our star moment has to be the work we did in maths, especially with everyone taking part in our supermovers activity!  I’m sure if we carry on our learning with this much enthusiasm, we’ll be times tables experts before too long!  Ask your child to show you at home….

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow we will improve this score by taking more pride in our work.  This means that we will use our neatest writing, concentrate on our learning so that we make fewer mistakes and make sure that we write the date at the top of the page.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Get Smart – Tyler!  It was hard to pick out one reason why Tyler should be our HoWL Hero today so I will have to tell you them all!  He continues to focus on his own learning and this is clearly shown by his eagerness to answer questions during lessons.  He also takes on board what others say as well and his work has shown this.  Tyler is always kind to the rest of our crew and that’s before mentioning how much his handwriting is improving since September.  Watch this space to see for yourselves soon…

Monday ✔

Another busy day today!

Highlights from today:

Computing:

The children have been fantastic in computing today. They are really beginning to understand programming a Beebot and they have even started to write out their algorithms to show the directions they programmed in. The groups all worked hard as mini-crews to make sure everyone got a turn, and if someone was stuck, they all pitched in to support. This was lovely to see.

Our HOWL Heroes:

Work Hard: Frankie has worked so hard today to make sure that she has put her hand up to speak and share ideas, listened carefully to instructions, and has just been an all round super star.

Get Smart: Harrylee is our get smart HOWL hero today as he persevered when debugging his Beebot, showing that he was learning and remembering what to do to fix the errors.

Be Kind: Harry has had a smile on his face from the moment he walked in today which has made me and all of the children smile too. His kindness was definitely passed around the room!

HOWL average: 2.8. We can do better than this tomorrow Crew Welburn.

Crew Wilson Daily Blog: 28/09/2020

Monday ✅

We’ve survived the first day back! It has been a very busy day with lots of different types of learning going on in all areas of the classroom, check out the highlights below.

Highlights from today:

Maths: We have recapped counting ‘one less’ through some physical movement, and for our independent activity the Crew played ‘one less Bingo’. They have worked really well together, helping each other with the rules of the game and finding one less for some tricky numbers. We also love shouting BINGO!

Computing: This is the fourth week that we have used the Bee-Bots and laptops in computing and they Crew have remembered our previous lessons and applied their knowledge fantastically. We have worked well as Crew to move the Bee-Bot across a large treasure map, and we have had some fabulous collaboration on the laptops when technology failed us, well done Crew Wilson!

Howl Heroes:

Working Hard: This Howl goes to Stevie for working so hard in every lesson today. Stevie has consistently shown me she is ready today by looking forward, giving eye contact and not talking to others. Because Stevie has been concentrating fully, she has created some beautiful work, well done Stevie!

Getting Smart: This Howl goes to Tommy T as he has applied himself to all lessons and thought about what standard he is aiming for, he has tried his best all day and has been a great listener, keep it up Tommy!

Being Kind: This Howl goes to Dalton as he is another Crew Wilson Superstar! Dalton is always so sensible in both independent and group work. I know I can rely on Dalton to always be actively listening and engaging in his learning, but he also goes above and beyond to help others – Dalton is always thinking about how other people are feeling, and is the first to lend a hand if someone is stuck. Fantastic work Dalton, it makes me so proud!

Howl Average: 3.4

We have had a focus on ‘Be Kind’ today, and had some honest reflections regarding how we treat our classroom, our teachers and our school. Tomorrow we are going to work better to get those fabulous fours!

A good start to the week Crew Wilson, the only way is up!

Crew Mcloughlin blog 28/09/20

Todays highlights

This morning we discussed our project in Crew to show off our expertise on being kind. I had thought over the weekend of an original idea of how we could do this and also how to show kindness to the community. The children have added some amazing ideas to this project and are really wowing me with their kind thoughts already! So watch this space to see how we spread Kindness across Crew and Carcroft community.

In maths we looked at roman numerals up to a 1000! Massive well done to Logan C for helping the rest of the class with this as it does take a lot of attention and thinking to work out. We will consolidate this further tomorrow to ensure we are all amazing at knowing our roman numerals.

This afternoon we had our computing lesson and further discussed how to be the best game developers. We are using Scratch to create the online games and I know many children are eager to follow this up at home. So feel free Crew Mcloughlin to get a free account with Scratch and keep saving your game to then improve in lesson.

HoWL Heroes 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

Logan- Work Hard- Logan has been a maths superstar again! He has put so much effort into working hard today. The crew are super proud, well done!

Lacey- Get Smart- For producing beautiful work in The Write Stuff. Lacey has really taken on board using her ideas and imagination more to personalise her writing and produce a lovely chunk of writing. Keep it up!

Lucia- Be Kind- Lucia has been voted by her buddy today for always helping others on her table when they are finding work tricky. Well done for being a valued member of our Crew!

HoWL average= 3.0

Our HoWL target this week is to get 3 or above everyday

Crew Gerrard Blog (28/09/2020)

Hi everyone,

Today in Crew Gerrard we have settled into the new week. The day began by testing our knowledge of Roman Numerals. We’ll continue to improve and practice this tomorrow, to really consolidate our knowledge. Then we practiced our spellings, looking into the silent ‘T’.

We came in after break, eager to start our next plot point. We did a really good job and were focused as we wrote up the next few sentences. I love this attitude guys and can’t wait for more tomorrow. We then moved onto our new style of reading, which involves having even more specific focus. This was a challenge as it was our first attempt, but I am confident that, with a little bit more practice and perseverance, we’ll get there and keep improving our reading skills.

This afternoon, we looked into a SWOT analysis of Carcroft. This involved looking into the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats to Carcroft. It was fantastic hearing what the children want for their local community and we can’t wait to help out!

Today’s HoWL heroes are:

-Lucas for having such a brilliant attitude to his work and working really hard. You have had a fantastic start to your week and your determination has been really impressive. Keep this up!

-Ruby for being very attentive, listening carefully and trying her very best to get smart. You were brilliant throughout every and kept trying really hard. Well done!

-Sapphire for being kind. You are always kind to everyone and I keep saying it, but you are a tremendous role model to our Crew!

Our HoWL average for today was 3.0.

Have a great evening and I can’t wait to see you all tomorrow!

Mr G 😁

Crew Shields – 28/9/20

Hi all,

Star moment of the day:

In Crew this morning, we had the pleasure welcoming a new student to our crew. The children have taken him under their wing to ensure that he felt comfortable and knew where things were. The children introduced themselves and were able to share something about themselves. This demonstrates a positive attitude to Crew by ensuring they were being kind.

Today’s HoWL average is: 2.9

How can we improve this tomorrow?

Tomorrow Crew Shields need to continue ensuring that they listen and follow instructions as this shows they are working Hard.

Today’s HoWL Hero:

Our Be Kind hero today is: Jack!!

Jack has been a massive help today and been a great friends to our new Crew member. He has explained how we do things at Carcroft and shown him where things belong. This has definitely helped them settled in and feel welcomed in our Crew

Our Work Hard hero today is: Dairis

Daris has worked really hard today and despite only joing our school today, he has completed all his learning and followed instructions. Dairis has been polite and friendly towards his new Crew.

Crew Nicholson Daily blog 28.09.20

As we begin week 5, we had some tired children in nursery this morning! 😴 We woke ourselves up in our PE session with Kixx, where we imagined we were pirates! ⚓️ We moved different ways around our pirate ship, following instructions and building our gross motor skills! We also practiced our colours as we jumped from one colour to another! 🟣🔵🟢

This afternoon, we listened to the story ‘sharing a shell’ 🐚🦀🐙 We discussed the sounds we might be able to hear at the seaside and the children did some fantastic seagull and wave sound impressions! The children then had a fantastic idea to use the shells within the sand provision and took it in turns to listen in them 👂🏼

HOWL Hero

Working Hard – Addison-Jean

Whilst doing some phonics games, Addison-Jean listened so carefully and tried her best. She was focussed and paying attention, which is sometimes not easy to do! Well done!
