We continued with our DT case study by cooking a sweet potato and polenta bake. This dish required us to use a wider range of skills such as slicing, chopping, grating, mixing, reducing liquids and then assembling the dish in a similar way to how you’d make a lasagna.
When the dish was cooked, there were lots of reluctant children who would try it. However, with some encouragement they tried a little. Surprisingly, some of them absolutely loved it to the point they crowded round the dish with a spoon.
During this case study, it’s required children to push themselves outside their comfort zone and for some they have found foods they like that they’d have been unwilling to try before.

Last week, we baked some buns as part of our DT case study. We had to collect the ingredients we needed before weighing everything out. We worked in small groups ensuring that everyone was able to participate. This allowed us to learn the skills that we’ll need for the final product.
To finish our story we enjoyed a picnic watching the chapatti moon, just like in the story. We have loved writing this story because it has had so much action in. Finally, Mrs Kapoor got her chapatti!

What a lovely day weโve had in Crew Godley, weโve shown off our talents in arithmetic and expedition followed by lots of Crew building challenges. Weโve developed our resilience and collaboration skills whilst competing with each other to make a variety of items including a boat that had to float and a turtle with a shell. It was all great fun!

We also created our own crew signs to create a montage – weโll continue with these into the new year.

Today we have started our third case study, Hinduism. We have explored the key facts, did you know that hinduism is the worlds oldest religion? Most Hindu’s live in India, in Doncaster there are approximately 1,294 Hindu’s. We discovered that Hinduism is third largest religion worldwide, after Christianity and Islam. To finish off our first lesson today we carried out a Kahoot quiz to assess our understanding, needless to say, Leo had remembered lots of key facts!

U8 Fast Champ Winner at Icon 9 this weekend!!
What an achievement at such a young age, we are all so proud of you Aubree! We canโt wait to see where your dancing journey takes you!

Today we finished plot point 3 of our persuasive letter! We only have our conclusion left to write then we can send our letters to Mrs Atherton ๐

Our entry ticket allowed us to think back to our expeditionary learning and what Egyptians did for fun. We then used a partner read, echo read and an independent read to read the next part of the text. We unpicked the vocabulary as we read. Our reasons to read consolidated our understanding of the text and allowed some of our own opinions to be voiced. Our exit ticket allowed us to experiment with a range of the games and evaluate which ones we liked the best and why. We then worked on the speed of our reading, Mrs McClare timed us and we voiced how many words we had read in a minute.

Today we discussed the importance of good hygiene which linked to the talk we had last week with the school nurse. We watched a video clip then took part in a class quiz.
