Crew MI finish their art slice

Today we finished our art slice and I am incredibly proud of every member of MI. We found this piece of art extremely challenging however we showed great resilience and continued to keep going. We have really developed our skills around critique, giving others feedback that can then be used to improve their work. We gave some great praises, notices and wonders which has helped us with our final piece. The improvements we made after practising different parts of the picture were incredible and we learnt that art takes lots of time, dedication and commitment. We learnt that taking our time is key and that this is ok. We look forward to our next art slice and continuing to build on the skills we have developed during this piece. Well done everyone, I am super proud of your final pieces.

Artist Critique 🎨👨🏻‍🎨

Crew Hamill have continued with their art work this week, creating a second draft based on peer critique. We looked at our first drafts and gave our peers a praise, notice and wonder for them. We then used these to begin our second draft, ensuring we responded to our critique to make improvements.

Peer Critique in Art

Today in our art lesson we did our first and second drafts of our Pablo Picasso snowmen. We thought about the features of a snowman and then how we could use the shapes we had seen in Picasso’s artwork to make our own cubist snowman. After our first and second drafts we worked in pairs to offer critique that was kind, specific and helpful. Well done Crew Robson, I can’t wait to see your 3rd drafts tomorrow!

Amazing Artists!🎨🧑‍🎨

Last week, Crew Hamill began their Art Slice, focusing on the use of watercolours to create a background. We looked at 12 different watercolour techniques including flat wash, gradient wash and splatter.

Today, we have continued with our watercolour painting, focusing on the four sections we need for the background of our work. We used flat wash and gradient wash to get the desired effects and experimented with mixing colours in order to get our desired shades.

More art in MI :)

Today we have practised some of the images that we will apply to our final pieces. We used some of the acrylic techniques that we looked at last week as we practised. We then gave our partner some critique based on their images. We then had a further practise where we applied the critique we had been given to improve our work. This really helped us with our Christmas trees for our final draft! There were some great praises, notices and wonders given out today that really made us think about how we can make our work better. We look forward to using our critique and adding it to our next draft.

Gallery Walk for Christmas Artwork

Today in Crew Robson we began our Christmas Art Slice with a gallery walk of artwork by the cubist artist Pablo Picasso. We shared our notices and praises and then moved on to look specifically at the shapes he uses in his artwork.

“I notice his eyes are two different sizes” Alissia

“I notice his face is lots of different colours” Teddy

“I wonder why some of the face is missing” Evesham
