Crew Longley – 15.04.2021

Another busy couple of days. We have been reading, working on fractions and working on the Wizard of Oz writing.

Our HoWL score today was: 3.0

Our weekly HoWL target is : 3.0

We need 7 more ‘3’s’ to earn our Nelli day! 🐶🐶

Today KAYDEN was our HoWL hero. He really impressed Miss Holdsworth with his maturity in crew this afternoon. Well done!

Crew Thiede 15.4.21

Another lovely day! We’re definitely back in the swing of things now!

We have continued with our Wizard of Oz theme with our mark making! The children thought about what a Wizard looks like, we used shapes to help us with our drawing. They had some fantastic conversations, I was blown away with how much everyone remembered!

One of our favourite activities today was our whip around. Each crew member added their own action to a sequence until we had 20 actions! This really tested our motor skills, memory and concentration but most of all we grew as a crew and had lots of fun.

We also made puppets to help us retell our story. We used our cut and stick skills to make our puppets before taking them all over our environment to retell the story!

We also had a birthday in Crew today! We celebrated with cake and singing. We really liked seeing Hunter blow out his candles! 🎂

Today’s HOWL hero is Messiah! He has worked so hard today! He’s been telling stories using the Wizard of oz puppets, joining in with all the activities and encouraging his friends.

Highlight of the day:

In our Write Stuff lesson today we were word collectors, using our knowledge of the characters in the Wizard of Oz to find lots of adjectives to use in our writing next week. I was blown away with some of the words that were given by the crew and we all worked really hard to make sure we had plenty ideas to help us with our writing!

Howl Heroes:

Work Hard: This goes to Jake, Daisy and Aleks for their brilliant contributions in Write Stuff – they all provided so many good describing words for each of the characters in the story, well done!

Get Smart: This goes to Luke and Perrie for their effort across all of our lessons today, they have both listened carefully and gone above and beyond in our tasks today, great work!

Be Kind: This goes to April for keeping her group on task in expedition and organising a cleaning squad to keep the classroom tidy, well done!

Howl Average: 3.4 – a slight dip from yesterday but targets have been decided for the crew to achieve those fab fours tomorrow!

Crew Gerrard (15/4/21)

Today has been another jam packed day and there was no tiredness from swimming yesterday! We started the morning thinking about what Crew means to Crew Gerrard and it was pleasing to see that we all feel like we belong. We powered on through our reading of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, through our spellings and into a creative writing session. Admittedly, we did find maths tricky, but we know that we will get there with it, if we persevere! Throughout the afternoon, we completed Plot Point 2 of our letter and I am impressed by how hard Crew Gerrard worked, which enabled them to get smart. Our HoWL Heroes are:

Work Hard: Zane for showing tremendous enthusiasm to his writing and thinking of what he wants to write about. He also was very careful with his handwriting! 😁

Get Smart: Tyler who has been thinking carefully about his letter. He came up with some fantastic sentences and was very persuasive! 😃

Be Kind: Crystal for being able to help her friends make the right choice (Mrs Gilliland) – well done, Crystal! 😄

Our HoWL average was 3.3 today, which was definitely earned. I wonder if we can make sure that we continue to show that positive, working hard attitude tomorrow to help with getting smart! 😆

Crew Fox blog 15.4.21

Today, we have worked our socks off! I am so impressed with how well all Crew Fox reached reasoning level in maths to solve equivalent fractions and percentages. This usually takes a few lessons to grasp, but today we smashed it! Lots of hard work – resulting in getting smarter!

We were rushing at the end of the day today, but our HOWL score today was absolutely 3+!!

Crew Marsh:15/04/21

Star moment

Star moment today was the children in crew at the end of the day – it was good to hear the children give reasons as to why they think they have scored themselves what they have. This something as a Crew I really want to work and improve of the coming weeks.

Average is: 2.8!

Our Weekly HoWL target is: 3.0

How can we develop this tomorrow?

Crew Marsh’s target for tomorrow again is to make sure that they are listening to every instruction and following it. We are really trying to make sure that everyone in Crew Marsh can follow an instruction to a T.

Howl Hero:

Our Work Hard Hero today is Sophia!

Sophia worked so hard in our writing lesson today! Her writing was amazing and it was great to see that she applied the different skills like she had learnt. Your similes were great Sophia, keep it up!

Crew Ferguson Daily Post 15.4.21

Today has been a sad day in crew today. We are saying goodbye to our student teacher Mr Marshall. He has been a great support over the last term and has supported the children and staff greatly. We have given him a little present and a lovely handmade card from the children whilst also having a little celebration to say thanks. We wish him the best of luck for the future. Thank you Mr Marshall.

The children have completed another section of the Wizard of the Oz text in writing. They used adjectives and conjunctions to tell the reader all about Dorothy and her feelings. They then impressed Miss Ferguson when they also included speech marks to show the reader when the characters were talking and shouting.

A lovely day in crew. See you all tomorrow.

15.4.21 Crew Flaherty

What a terrific Thursday it is!

We have had a lovely day in our crew today. We have wrote the next plot point in our narrative. We have learned all about odd and even numbers in maths. This afternoon, we spent some time in the afternoon saying a farewell to Mr Marshall who sadly will be leaving us tomorrow. All the children and staff in year 2 wanted to say a massive thank to him for all his help and support since January.

HOWL average in our CREW today is 3.4
