Crew Frost have loved being outside this week so much that we decided to make it bright and colorful with our mark making skills. The children have loved making lines, circles, and various shapes such as circles and hearts! We have shown great control keeping within the brick lines and using our imagination to create figures like our grown ups or our pets we care about.

This week in crew Frost the children have been learning how to use scissors. The children first discussed how to use the scissors safety and what items we cut. We then practiced how we hold the scissors for moving around the classroom and when we are ready to cut. We then challenged the children to follow the patterned lines on the sheets. The children astonished us how they were able to maneuver their way around the task following the patterned sheets. We can’t wait to keep practicing this fine motor task.

We have loved our learning about primary and secondary colours this week! We used powder paints to make primary colours and then mixed these together to make secondary colours. The children absolutely loved listening to calm music as we got busy. What a lovely Wednesday!

Today I spotted Alissia’s beautiful home learning. She has clearly taken alot of time, to ensure that the work in which she produced was of high quality. At XP Trust, we call this Craftsmanship and Quality. Alissia is a fabulous role model to all. We are so proud of the girl you are Alissia.

In Expedition we are learning about The Great Fire Of London and understanding people that help us in our community. The children have used their cutting skills to cut out fires, paint fires and paint their hands to make our firefighters to put the fires out!
Crew Ramsay and Crew Barber had a very special visit from our local Firefighters today! We learned about their Firetruck and even had a go sitting in the cabin! This was a lovely ending to our first case study about Firefighters!

During this week the children have began the next stage for their final products. We learnt how to mix colors creating the desired effect for our skin tones, so they are ready for the next step using shapes to create our facial features. We are so excited to see how these portraits will look within our banner.

During our current expedition Marvelous me, we have been working very hard in crew Frost learning how to create a self portrait, as you can see the children have been learning how to use shapes to form the features of their face, such as a circle for the face, lines for eyelashes and hair. Whilst developing new language such as “dot or wavy” for the nose and lips. The children have particularly liked learning our little parrot rhyme to help our pen grip. We cannot wait to see all the images brought together in our celebration of learning!

Today in expedition we have been artists. We have worked really hard to use charcoal effectively to create our own sketch of Carcroft School. We had a practice of using different skills and techniques before applying this knowledge to our learning. Miss Holdsworth was really impressed that we remembered some of our key words when praising each others work, such as blending and outline. We were so proud of the beautiful work we produced, we showcased this by completing a gallery walk.
